Babel and Johnson having an excellent matchup so far in the england-netherlands friendly.. Babel looks pretty good and Glen Johnson going in hard on the guy at the moment... hope we see much more of Babel this season hes looked very good in preseason so far... deserves a chance imo

I agree and think this could be his year. I just have this feeing thate he will click into place. Not sure whether he's a winger, striker, attacking midfielder or what but I think he will get more games under his belt this year and finally play like his potential suggests. I hope to see him batteling Riera for the left wing slot and stepping upfront in a 442 every now and then.

By the way. 1-2 at the weekend for me.

               Riena

Johnson  Carra Skrtel   Insua

               Masch
Kuyt        Lucas        Riera

              Gerrard
               Torres

(note my slight change in formation putting masch behind Lucas rather than Masch alongside Alonso (as it were) this is to encourage him to get forwards more :)

Come on red men, hit the ground running please.  :buttrock

Going to be a tough match! But i think we'll win 2-0! But i think we definitely need to win. Hopefully when we play at home Aquilani will be watching so he can see how we play and get the feel of LFC!

Kuyt, Riera, Torres all scoring midweek can't be bad, would take one goal from each on Sunday.

We're gonna kick start the season with three points. Spurs' back line is very thin while our injury concerns are easing up at the back.

3-1 easy for the Reds.

Look like King will start and Bassong has only been there 5 mins. We must take advantage of their weaknesses at the back and do at them from the start. They have enough of a threat going forward and could easily nick goal. Its going to be a tough opening game but think we will sneak it 2-1

Tricky start to the season away to Spurs.

Pity we didn't grab Defoe from Portsmouth, he would have been a quality addition to our strike force.

We may pay the price for not having a decent back up striker but hopefully Babel get his act together this season and offer us a potent goal threat.

Definitely is. Infact looking at the last three seasons, on the first day we've had villa (a), sunderland (a) and spurs (a). On the other hand united have had reading (h), newcastle (h) and birmingham (h), and chelsea have had birmingham (h), portsmouth (h) and hull (h). ???

Anyway I'm excited and nervous at the same time, only because I don't think we're ready. Once Sunday is out of the way and done and there's a home game I'll probably be fine. The most scrappy and uninspiring 1-0 win would do me just fine on Sunday.

A few of their defenders are out so I'm hoping Nando's gonna rip em to shreds, can't wait for this!

Im goin for a 3-2 thriller (win obiously) with the amount of centre halves not available for Sunday it'll be our attack vs attack, and while all 57 Tottenham 1st team strikers can cause us problems on their day they dont have Nando, Stevie and Diggler who will be chipping in with a goal each
