we need to win this for a confidence boost.
it will be interesting to see how we fair out there after the league encounter where we again dominated and couldnt score.they will set up the same against us as well so lets hope we learned our lesson.
ive given up trying to second guess a score as i think we have no right to automatically assume a win.

Tough game, be very interested to see the team Kenny picks.

Lucas will play I hope, would like Agger, Carroll and Maxi in for Skrtel, Kuyt and Downing who are on the bench.

Our finishing or the ability to kill off the opponents is one of our weaknesses. At the moment we lack a quality striker in the class of Rooney, Hernandez, Drogba, Dzeko to do it. I am concerned about the outcome.

That looks pretty good to me.

Gonna be a hard one. Away to Stoke just like earlier in the year. Both sides will be playing strong lineups.

the last thing we want here is extra time and penalties.

i fully expect kelly, coates, spearing, henderson, maxi and carroll all to start.

We want to win this cup and we couldnt beat Stoke with our first 11 a few weeks back so almost a full strength team for me minus Suarez, who needs a rest.

Won't be an easy game by any means. But if we create half as many chances as we did against Norwich we should win.

We need to put out a strong side but we also need to give some of our more established substitutes some game time. For me, Kuyt, Adam and Suarez should be dropped to the bench for this one. Bellamy, Henderson and Carroll can come in and try to prove their worth. Ideally, we'll try to give as much playing time to our strongest back 5 so expect all of Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger (assuming he is now fully fit), Enrique to start here. Down the middle, Lucas should be back and Gerrard needs more time.

Leaves one big question mark. Downing or Maxi ?

Downing has been disappointing recently but then again hes been played out of position often. Also, he is arguably our best bet for crosses from wide areas and his partnership with Enrique showed promise early on.
On the other hand, Maxi has been inexplicably shut out of the first team this season despite impressing at every chance since Kenny took over. He HAS TO feature in this game at some point.

Id swap Bellamy for Kuyt. Bellamy should be starting all league games, Kuyt shouldn't so it's a good chance for him to get some game time.

I like your lineup, however, I would like to see Agger back there instead of Carra or Skrtel.

Maybe give Coates a game.

Anyways I predict a scrappy 2-1 win for us
