FULHAM VS LIVERPOOL - Saturday 31st october – 3.00pm

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Cool Hand Luke » Thu Oct 29, 2009 12:47 am

This one is a 3.00pm kick off at Craven Cottage and with Fulham already out of the League Cup they have had the whole week to prepare. Our squad is looking a lot stronger now that our injuries have cleared up. Gerrard and Aquilani are likely to in the squad but both may not be ready to start the game. We don’t play Lyon until Wednesday so best team out for both games.

Goalkeepers: Reina, Cavalieri
Defenders: Carragher, Agger, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Johnson, Degen, Aurelio, Insua, Dossena
Midfielders: Aquilani, Mascherano, Lucas, Gerrard, Kuyt, Benayoun, Babel, Spearing
Strikers: Torres, Ngog, Voronin

Injured: Riera and Kelly

I would go with the same team that beat Man Utd and have Gerrard and Aquilani on the bench. We rushed Gerrard back last time and he had a setback so we should ease him back in or we may lose him for a couple of months.

                        Reina

Johnson   Carragher   Agger   Insua

                 Masch    Lucas

            Kuyt   Benayoun   Aurelio

                       Torres

Subs: Ngog, Babel, Gerrard, Aquilani, Skrtel, Degen, Cavalieri

It's tempting for a lot of us to want to see Aqua more and get Gerrard back in there but I agree with being safe on this one Luke, we don't want to rush either back too quickly because in the long term it may do us more harm. Leave them on the bench and if they're needed then fair enough, but as far as I remember they're not on the greatest of runs or anything, Fulham that is. So I'm gonna say that we'll win this 3:1
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Nervous about this one. Fulham have not been bad this season.

It is true, they have not lost in over a month and they're playing at home.

However, I'm hoping that with our added confidence from the Man Utd. win and potentially Gerrard and Torres back in the lineup that we have what it takes to show these guys who is the better team.

No more :censored: around from here on in. We have to be pounding forward to get back to the top of the league.

Last five at Craven Cottage :

08/09 Fulham 0-1 Liverpool
07/08 Fulham 0-2 Liverpool
06/07 Fulham 1-0 Liverpool
05/06 Fulham 2-0 Liverpool
04/05 Fulham 2-4 Liverpool

04/05 was the comeback from 0-2 down after 30 mins to win with a not so likely scoring trio of Biscan, Alonso and Baros to add to a Zat Knight own goal

Fulham home form

09/10 P4 W2 D0 L2 F4 A4 PTS 6
08/09 P19 W11 D3 L5 F28 A16 PTS 36
07/08 P19 W5 D5 L9 F22 A31 PTS 20

Pretty good last season, the last seven visiting sides to beat them are :

09/10 Chelsea, Arsenal
08/09 Liverpool, West Ham, bitters, Blackburn, Hull

Not quite the impressive list I was half expecting, so far this season both of the 'big four' visitors have taken the points, but last season, despite a big home record reputation, they lost to a right mixed bag, albeit Hull, Blackburn, bitters and ourselves won there from March onwards. They also suffered a 0-4 defeat to the mancs there in the FA Cup, also in March.

Given our recent form there are no certainties. A win of any kind would be welcome, let's hope Rafa is prepared to a) put Aquilani on the bench, b) make substitutions when they are needed not on some kind of preset schedule and c) bring on Aquilani as early as possible without being overdramatic if it could swing the game (depending on how we're playing, the score etc)

Can't wait for this one. Torres and Gerrard have been rested so I expect both to start. Aquilani should get another stint so it looks like it will be pretty much full a strength team. My prediction 4-1 to us.

Anyone else here going to the game? Let me know and we can meet up before hand.

Agreed. No need to change a winning team. The Lyon game is crucial and will need Gerrard.
