Apparently Hicks only has 90 days first refusual. After that it's anybodies guess. (that's word from my brother anyway)
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Liverpool's focus on Inter hit by sale veto
Oliver Kay in Milan

Preparations for Liverpool’s biggest match of the season, against Inter Milan at the San Siro this evening, were overshadowed last night by the latest twists in the Anfield takeover soap opera, with Tom Hicks angrily terminating his negotiations with Dubai International Capital (DIC).

Rafael Benítez, the Liverpool manager, said that he and his players would think only about booking their place in the Champions League quarter-finals, with his team 2-0 up from the first leg. But the latest development in the takeover saga has shocked the club’s hierarchy, with Hicks, the co-chairman, deciding to veto the decision by George Gillett Jr, his co-owner, to sell the vast majority of his 50 per cent stake in the club to DIC, the private-equity investment arm of the Dubai Government.

DIC remains hopeful of buying Gillett’s share and ousting Hicks in the long term, but the tone of Hicks’s statement suggested there would be no more amicable discussions after negotiations in Dubai broke down.

“I have decided to terminate any further discussions with DIC regarding their possible purchase of a minority stake in Kop Holdings and in turn the club,” Hicks said. “DIC made it clear that if they invested in the club, they would want it managed by committee.

“Based on my 13 years of successful experience as an owner of professional sports teams — and based in particular on the situation at Liverpool over the past year — it is clear that such a committee approach would not be in the best interests of Kop, the club or the club’s loyal and passionate supporters. Accordingly, I have decided to exercise my right . . . to veto any sale of any portion of Kop and the club to DIC.

“I and my colleagues and representatives will continue to explore a number of other options with regard to the ownership of Kop and the club.”

DIC has privately questioned the legitimacy of the Texan’s power of veto, but sources close to Hicks said last night that “the veto is watertight. It was in the shareholder agreement and, as far as Tom is concerned, that is the end of the matter with DIC.”

Benítez, whose employment prospects at Anfield remain unclear, said that the news would not distract his players from the task in hand against Inter, but his preparations have been disrupted by a disagreement with Xabi Alonso, the midfield player, who stayed in Merseyside yesterday to be with his girlfriend, Nagore, who is about to give birth to their first child.

Alonso had hoped to fly out this morning if the baby was born in time, but Benítez said no, putting further pressure on their working relationship, which has become strained over the past two months.

because it doesn't matter how many people stand outside, there's still going to be 20  thousand people sitting inside anfield giving that fat  their  money.

I don't go the match and think "oh I'm paying this fat  his trip back to coocoo land." I go the match to give the players my  support. Like the rest of the 35%. I won't stop supporting this club just because some  owns us, and I won't stop going the match. My support along with every other fan who genuinely loves this club sinks into the players and they know they're playing for fans who won't accept failure. Whereas the rest of the "fans" don't care because if Liverpool don't win, they just go up the road and buy a  united shirt.

so you can go  yourself mate if you think I was referring to scousers alone, because that's  ridiculous.

Listen sunshine you referred to 'forigners' AGAIN, insinuating them as a blight on the Club, and it isn't the first time i've read that from you. In this post you have almost made sense when trying to explain why a boycott might not work, and fair enough, without for once referring to the 'Chinaman' watching a game....god forbid eh? maybe you should read your posts out loud before you submit them. Its enough on the matter.

Care to explain which mintel report you got the 35% from?

pinpoint where I've said it's only forigners who don't love the club? Please do so.

And if you think that 35% is an exact figure then you're even more backward than I already think. It's a rough guess at how many fans of this club are actually genuine and haven't jumped on the bandwagon of the most successful club these shores have seen.

50% of the shares has been agreed to DIC if Hicks cant match the offer of offer more, imagine he gets Bush to come in FFS he is pulling in some favours this fecker.

I cant understand how he came in at the last minute yet has all to say, when Gillett was the one that wanted to buy us yet no one knows where he is.

Gillett is in hiding. No doubt when DIC are putting pen to paper Gillett will come out of his hidey hole and say "I don't want to sell now, it's back to 50/50 with me and Hicks"

Mr Gillett was ready to accept DIC’s offer of more than £80m for 98 per cent of his half-stake in the club, with the remainder of his stake going to Mr Hicks to give him a 51 per cent holding in Liverpool.

With DIC taking on the £350m debt in Liverpool, the investment arm of United Arab Emirates made it clear it expected to buy out Mr Hicks at a later stage for a similar amount to that offered to Mr Gillett, making their projected takeover worth more than £500m.

But it believed it was reaching an accord with Mr Hicks by agreeing to his demands that he retain a majority stake for the time being.

DIC, which earlier in the day said it was in “advanced discussions” with Liverpool’s co-owners, declined to comment.

A person close to the situation said Mr Hicks had begun discussions with other business partners about buying out Mr Gillett, without specifying which partners.

I'm getting really p*ssed off with this pr*ck, he rolled into town last year claiming he was going too put the fans first, "this is your club" he stated. Now its all self self self. He is just a greedy fat b*stard who is ashamed to lose face.

JUST F*UCK OFF YOU W*NKER :veryangry  :veryangry  :veryangry
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.
