Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby The Manhattan Project » Mon Mar 10, 2008 10:26 pm

I ate some stew while at lunch with Mr Parry and Mr Hicks.

Hicks had a steak, but couldn't afford to pay for it.

So he took out a loan from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

He'll repay the steak with 29M pounds interest a year.

I did feel the anger towards Moores originally was a bit unfair but now when you think about his nice £80m profit he has to snuggle up with at night and Coco has his nice shiny new Ferrari to comfort him you realise how much they've fucked the club over.
The following quote really does make me wonder if Parry is some sort of Hicks trained bullshit artist:
“Be assured the only thing David Moores is concerned about is the club being in the right hands for the future. You can be certain he has done his homework carefully and will make a decision in the best interests of the club. The fans have trusted David to do the right thing in the past and can be sure that’s what he’s doing now. If they thought the Dubai bid was good, rest assured he is now considering a different course for the right reasons.”

I'll let you all stew on that one for a bit!!

Thats the bit the :censored: wound me up the most with

ERM the club was run by a commitee for years its what you call in England a board of directors you sad greedy :censored:

And how dare he speak of whats in the best interests of the fans , Whats in the best intrest  of the fans is if you do one simple as

The United States has a very high IDV (individual/collective index) of 91, meaning that in our culture big decisions are put into the hands of 1 rather than a collective. Sounds kind of strange since our government is supposed to be about balancing three different branches, but it is definitely true

Joe he needs to understand this is Liverpool were we do have boards and not just one person making the decisions i reckon he :censored: himself and backed out cause he knew once DIC came in it would only be a matter of time before he was a gonner .

IMHO hes holding out for more money hes seeing how far he can push them

at this point I don't know what to think, but it seems like a vast majority of the fans have formed their opinion, or at least the vocal ones. And one thing seems pretty clear, people's minds are not going to change. I think Hicks probably has to look for a way out now. I hope its Mark Cuban  :D   then there will be a positive attitude towards yank owners, but I guess DIC would be ok too.  I think I have too much respect for a person's property to demand that a person sells something that he owns.  I would totally be behind a fan takeover, and I think that would scare hicks a lot more because the group could easily threaten to boycott and ride hicks of his income because they would in essence be the main source of it and show power through organization.  But I wouldn't feel right in trying to demand that one person sell something that he owned to someone else because I didn't like them.

I've constantly tried to defend Moores, because he always did his best for the club he loved. I can't believe that he'd purposely put this club into :censored: but the more that these :censored: are in charge and embarrass the club we've all grown up to love the more I feel Moores is to blame. He was all set to sell to DIC until an extra 8 million quid was forked out by the yanks. Now obviously Moores didn't know what was going to happen, which is why I try and not blame him as much but I'm coming round to the idea that blame falls on him as well.

Tom Hicks has broken off talks with DIC because their leadership style would not be in the interests of: "Kop [Holdings], of the Club, or of the Club's loyal and passionate supporters."

Let's look at this. Why does Mr Hicks put Kop Holdings first? Doesn't this reveal exactly where his priorities lie? How many times do the man's priorities have to be revealed to us? It's wonderful of him to emphasise what we already know. The interests of Kop Holdings and Liverpool Football Club are not one and the same. Kop Holdings needs Liverpool to come fourth every year and get a stadium built and then it makes a billion pound return without ever investing a penny. Liverpool Football Club demands greatness. Liverpool Football Club should be the jewel in the crown. Not another stepping stone for an obscenely rich man to make more money he doesn't need.

Mr Hicks is remarkably presumptuous if he feels he knows what's best for Liverpool Football Club and its supporters. The very supporters who distrust him entirely. The very supporters who have made their feelings known again and again what's best for them.

Mr Hicks should listen to Liverpool's supporters. They've repeatedly tried to tell him what's best for this club. On the whole it can be summed up as follows:

What's best for this football club isn't being in exactly the same position as we were fourteen months ago but with £350m of debt.

What's best for the football club and its supporters is that the man who has publicly stated he'll siphon Liverpool's money off to his other sports teams, hasn't pledged to buy the club one way and then do the opposite, has promised stadia yet has failed to raise the money and still hasn't started digging, has offered the manager's job to a total novice in club management terms – how exactly was that in the club's best interests Tom? - and then discussed such a foolish move in public, leaves and never, ever, ever comes back.

What's best for Liverpool Football Club is that the man who has dragged this footballing institution through the mud, who has classlessly tarnished the family silver, who has shown such disdain and disrespect to the very supporters he now claims to act in the interest of accepts the healthy profit he has been offered and shuts the door behind him.

How many times do we have to tell him he doesn't know what's best for LFC? He doesn't know what's best for the supporters? Well, let's keep telling him and let's tell him louder.

Before the Reading game. 15th March. The Olympia. Noon. Let's tell him again there and then let's tell him outside the ground and then let's tell him inside the ground and keep telling him and the world that he doesn't know best. Only when he steps through the exit door will he have shown any intelligence, any class and any understanding of what Liverpool's supporters want.

One way or another, on the 15th of March, let your voice be heard.

Spirit Of Shankly

Great sentiments from SOS, but it doesn't make a bit of difference.  Tom Hicks is not arsed if we shout bad things before, during an at the end of matches.

HE DOESN'T CARE.

We sold our soul to the devil and he has all the aces in his hand.  We can't do anything.. well thats not totally true, but no-one seems to have the balls to do the one thing that will make him sit up and take notice.

Its been said many times, the only way to kick him in the balls is to stop going to the match.  Well..  stand outside the ground whilst the match is on.  Imagine the effect..,  No money made and the team hearing us cheer them on from outside.  35,000 people OUTSIDE Anfield.

News crews circling overhead in helecopters, Front and back page on every newspaper, and most important Hicks sitting on his office on Monday morning and asking fo his spreadsheet for takings over the weekend and then asking his PA to "check the figures for Anfield"..

BUT, there are too many people who are not prepared to "abandon" the team for a few weeks.  For me its about protecting the club now and in the future..  but both Hicks,  and I, know it will never happen..

So he has won
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

What's the point of not going to games? All that will happen then is more and more "fans" will come over and still sell out the ground. Our fanbase is to big for Anfield not to be sold out, even if the diehard supporters who go week in week out decide to stand outside. Also standing outside gives the impression he has won anyway, because he gets the comforts of Anfield without the grief from the fans.

I won't stop going to the match just because of some :censored: yank. It makes me more dertermined if anything to go the match and support the lads. I'm not supporting him, but rather Liverpool Football Club. So I think that not entering the ground on matchdays, is a pretty silly suggestion.

He may be the legal owner of the club, but it doesn't belong to him, clubs have and always will belong to the fans. Since it's he who is jeopardising the future of the club, fans have the right to demans he sells up. If he had honoured his word, and acted more responsibly as a true 'custodian' should, fans wouldn't be pining for him to sell up.

Nanny there's no point to it. Alls that will happen is more forigners or less passionate fans will attend the games at Anfield. He won't lose out a great deal, unless the 35,000 decide to stop anybody who even tries to enter.

It wouldn't hurt him as much because people who don't get to go week in week out, would jump at the chance and buy everything because it's a one off thing. He'd probably get more money.

I'm not happy giving it to him, but it doesn't make a difference if it's me or some chinese fella who's come over for a one off game does it? He's still going to be picking up the money. Plus the chinese fella because he doesn't get to Anfield often will be buying 5 programmes for his wife and kids, replica shirts, key rings, this that and the other. So in fact Hicks would be picking up more and more money if genuine fans stop going to the match.

INTERESTING :D

Associated Press - March 10, 2008 4:55 PM ET

MANCHESTER, England (AP) - Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks said today he had ended talks with Dubai International Capital, which has been negotiating to buy most of co-owner George Gillett's 50% stake.

Hicks said in a statement that Dubai International Capital "made it clear that if they invested in the club, they would want it to be managed by committee."

The company made no official comment, but a person close to the bid told The Associated Press that the company is looking at weaknesses in Hicks' power of veto over Gillett's ability to sell. The person spoke of condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.
