Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Benny The Noon wrote:In a statement released overnight by his public relations company the Canadian-based businessman said he had reached agreement on a price with the Americans and that a formal purchase agreement is being prepared.

According to the statement he has promised to clear Liverpool's debt with its bankers and to provide the investment required to build the new Anfield in Stanley Park.

The statement said: “Yahya Kirdi, who represents a select group of investors from the Middle East and Canada, confirmed today that his group is in advanced negotiations with Thomas Hicks and George Gillett, co-owners of Liverpool Football Club, to purchase 100% of the Club.

“Agreement has been reached on all major terms including the purchase price, repayment of the existing bank debt from RBS and Wells Fargo and financing of a new stadium in Liverpool’s Stanley Park. A formal purchase agreement between the parties is in the final stage of negotiation.

“Mr. Kirdi is a resident of Canada and a former Syrian National Football Team player who oversees investments in Europe and North America on behalf of his investor group.

Mr Kirdi said: “Liverpool is a massive football club with passionate and proud fans in Merseyside and in every part of the world. With additional money to improve the squad and financing in place to build the new stadium, LFC will be on a solid foundation to compete in the Premiership and in Europe for years to come.”

Kirdi’s public statement of is an intriguing twist in the battle for control at Anfield coming three days after Chinese businessman Kenneth Huang made his bid for the club public at the beginning of the week.

Kirdi has previously been dismissed as a serious bidder by the club, but when his renewed interest was reported in a Sunday newspaper last week it prompted Huang to go public with his bid.

Tellingly Kirdi claims to be in negotiations with the American owners directly, rather than in talks with club chairman Martin Broughton and Barclays Capital (BarCap), the investment bank appointed to oversee the sale of the club.

Huang by contrast initially approached the club’s bank RBS, which has lent the club and the owners £237m, in an attempt to force a sale on the Americans. He then opened talks with Broughton and BarCap.

claiming he had initially approached the club’s bank RBS before opening talks with Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton and Barclays Capital, the investment bank overseeing the sale process.

Broughton and BarCap were appointed in April after RBS demanded that the Americans sell the club as a condition of extending a financing agreement.

That extension expires in October but Broughton is hopeful of completing a sale this month. Kirdi’s statement will be dismissed by some as an attempt to drive up the price being offered by Huang, but the owners and Broughton have always maintained that there is more than one interested and genuine potential buyer.

What about investing in the squad?

And why are they tallking with the yanks and not Broughton?

If the Chinese get it then G&H make no money. thats why they are trying to get the other offers in.

there is talk that the Chinese bid might not be what it seems anf might not be great for the club and could see us sitting there in the same place as we are now for another year just with no bank debt.

there is a big chance that iF the board push down G&H and let the Chinese buy the debt them we could end up in the high court with the board trying to get shot of G&H and making them give up the club.

not good.

I hope it will still be a full buy out but G&H will also make money from it and some are not going to be happy with that but it could see the deal done and dusted in days.

and as long as the Middel east money dont go tits up we will be ok.

It seems that the chinese bid is the preffered bid due to their track record in investing in sport - one of the stipulations in the bid is that Liverpool must start up a far east academy based in china and hong kong . Since the two parasites handed over control legally to Barcap then they no longer have final say in matters and only have one vote each on the board - they are bringing in these other bids to try and persuade the board to accept the Syrian bid - the Syrians have spoken to the yanks directly and they have agreed a fee which would clear debt and give them profit but the final say will be down to the board - CIC have all the backing and credentials - the syrians guy credentials are very cloudy .

Old reports back in April suggest this Kirdi with backers from saudi's group are worth £19 billion. Roman is worth £11.2 billion. Whilst Huang says he will invest heavily on the squad, I don't know if this kirdi dude will spend as much. Arghhhh!!! Bet we have another new name in the next 2 days.

Kenny sounds a safer bet to me at the mo. And there is wealth there to which will easily enable him to back us up good and proper IMO.

Stear clear from anything accross the otherside of the 'pond'.

And I'd highly doubt to coin a phrase Chinese money will go "t.its up". I don't think anything even like the great depression would affect Liverpool's sustainability if we were backed by Mr Kenny and his Chinese friends. And as you said Benny, he has a proven track record in the industry. Just my own opinion like...

Spot on mate - Chinas money is no way going to go tits up - they even managed to make massive profits from the Olympics - the first county to do so in a while and the soverign wealth had a big helping hand in the games - helping fund the building of some of the stadia - Im pretty sure they would be the ones to bring us success both on and off the field . My mate who works on the stock exchange has said there is nothing but good about these guys and they love their sports and football - namely prem football is their next big target . There was rumours that they wanted to buy out either arsenal or man utd at one stage over the years but since 05 Liverpool has been their only target but they had to wait until the Olympics were out of the way .

How come last week there was no buyers, Rhone & Kirdi where lashed months ago now all of a sudden this Chinese fella appears and now Rhones back in along with Kirdi, the whole thing stinks to high heaven of stalling tactics from twit & tw@tter so they can get another re-finance in October from the banks and try ride it out until this new TV deal happens.

Ive never hated two people so much in all my life.
They would sell their kids, wives and grannys if they had to just for an extra buck or two untrustworthy b@stards.

Broughton better swerve that Syrian he's bessie mates with Foster & George Gillett the last thing we need is getting rid of Hicks and Gillett staying, or getting rid of Gillett with Hicks staying with Rhone  :no

here is another thing, he is going to BUY the debt, he is not going to PAY OFF the debt,
say this happens, G&H now own him the money for the club, now if they have a fit over this they could get very funny and hold back the shares of the clun, buying the debt in the eyes of the law dont give you a stake in the club, it give you control of a loan.

say to got a loan from RBS to buy a car, RBS sell your debt to me. i can not then come and take your car, i can ask you to pay the loan off and if you can not do that then go to court to get the car from you.
