What do you make of Al Fayed on SSN yesterday about Roy?

He said mark Hughes is better looking than him and Fulham will beat us because Roys our manager   :D

This is the lot behind the Heung bid

China Investment Corporation (CIC) is a sovereign wealth fund responsible for managing part of the People's Republic of China's foreign exchange reserves. CIC was established in 2007 with approximately US$200 billion of assets under management, making it one of the largest sovereign wealth funds.[2][3] Since then, CIC's assets have grown to $332 billion at the end of 2009.

Revealed: The other two bidders vying with Huang for control of Liverpool

Published 23:00 03/08/10
By David Maddock

Liverpool will consider at least three proposals to buy a controlling stake in the club, as they look to make a decision over a preferred bidder within the next 10 days.

As we revealed yesterday, chairman Martin Broughton will meet personally with Chinese businessman Kenny Huang within the next few days to discuss a £320million proposal to buy out the current American owners.

But Broughton has also been in talks with the Rhone Group , who had a bid to by 25 per cent share in the club scuppered only three months ago.

And the chairman, along with Barclays Capital, has also had contact with the super-rich Al Kharafi family from Kuwait in recent weeks, as they explore the possibility of resurrecting their own interest in buying the club.

Huang is considered a credible and serious bidder for the club, and even though his current valuation is considerably below the asking price of owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, the Anfield board are treating it seriously.

Talks will move swiftly to identify any prospect an agreement that will satisfy the chief demands of finding an agreeable price and key terms for the future of Liverpool, which include the removal of debt on the club and financing of a new stadium.

Broughton will decide which bid ticks the right boxes to take the club forward, and has confirmed he is in a position to accept the best possible option for Liverpool, even if it doesn't satisfy the Americans.

The US-based Rhone group are trying to revive their earlier offer for 25 per cent of the club for a figure of around £100million, which would value the club above the offer of Huang.

Kuwait's billionaire Al Kharafi family were close to an agreement to buy Liverpool earlier this year, but then withdrew from the process without explanation.

While they have yet to make any formal offer, it is thought contact has been resumed in recent weeks, and Broughton will now decide on which of the competing parties is the preferred bid by next weekend.

The club will then hope to complete negotiations before the end of August, allowing a new regime to assume control for the new season.

Huang has offered support to new manager Roy Hodgson, and has also pledged funds to the Liverpool boss, while confirming he would remove the debt from the club and finance the build of a new stadium.

The Chinese investment expert would front a small consortium of super-wealthy businessman from his country, who are thought to be backed the state-sponsored sovereign investment fund.

In a statement released overnight by his public relations company the Canadian-based businessman said he had reached agreement on a price with the Americans and that a formal purchase agreement is being prepared.

According to the statement he has promised to clear Liverpool's debt with its bankers and to provide the investment required to build the new Anfield in Stanley Park.

The statement said: “Yahya Kirdi, who represents a select group of investors from the Middle East and Canada, confirmed today that his group is in advanced negotiations with Thomas Hicks and George Gillett, co-owners of Liverpool Football Club, to purchase 100% of the Club.

“Agreement has been reached on all major terms including the purchase price, repayment of the existing bank debt from RBS and Wells Fargo and financing of a new stadium in Liverpool’s Stanley Park. A formal purchase agreement between the parties is in the final stage of negotiation.

“Mr. Kirdi is a resident of Canada and a former Syrian National Football Team player who oversees investments in Europe and North America on behalf of his investor group.

Mr Kirdi said: “Liverpool is a massive football club with passionate and proud fans in Merseyside and in every part of the world. With additional money to improve the squad and financing in place to build the new stadium, LFC will be on a solid foundation to compete in the Premiership and in Europe for years to come.”

Kirdi’s public statement of is an intriguing twist in the battle for control at Anfield coming three days after Chinese businessman Kenneth Huang made his bid for the club public at the beginning of the week.

Kirdi has previously been dismissed as a serious bidder by the club, but when his renewed interest was reported in a Sunday newspaper last week it prompted Huang to go public with his bid.

Tellingly Kirdi claims to be in negotiations with the American owners directly, rather than in talks with club chairman Martin Broughton and Barclays Capital (BarCap), the investment bank appointed to oversee the sale of the club.

Huang by contrast initially approached the club’s bank RBS, which has lent the club and the owners £237m, in an attempt to force a sale on the Americans. He then opened talks with Broughton and BarCap.

claiming he had initially approached the club’s bank RBS before opening talks with Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton and Barclays Capital, the investment bank overseeing the sale process.

Broughton and BarCap were appointed in April after RBS demanded that the Americans sell the club as a condition of extending a financing agreement.

That extension expires in October but Broughton is hopeful of completing a sale this month. Kirdi’s statement will be dismissed by some as an attempt to drive up the price being offered by Huang, but the owners and Broughton have always maintained that there is more than one interested and genuine potential buyer.

Rumours that the people behind the potential takeover have already contacted some players agents about possible deals. #lfctakeover

i wouldn't be at all surprised if any one who is serious about making an offer to buy the club is also doing a bit of forward planning as regards new players. if things move as quickly as they seem to be doing - or as we want them to - then a buy out could be completed before the transfer window shuts, but only just. a new owner will be painfully aware of the need to invest in the squad to get us back into the top 4 at least, so they'll want to get good players in quickly. judging by the way these transfer negotiations can sometimes drag on, if i was in there position i would be trying to get some progress made before i'm actually ready to do real business. i would at the least have a couple of 'my people' ringing the agents of players i was interested in and outlining my plans to them.
