FACT FIVE . This is all my own personal opinion and not the opinion of SOS .

well, by all means, carry on as you were then. I'm just saying how it is. SOS has no PR plan and that is one of the main reason it isn't working.

Your not just saying that are you . You are saying sos is racist , is condoneing racism . Your saying that SOS have to some how stop fans from doing what they want to do i.e burn flags . HOW? Your certainly more @rsed about SOS than the very future of our club . No national journo is going to be involved with SOS . Really ? I know of atleast 3 paid up members. If you are going to rant about something you know nothing about . Try atleast to get some facts in there somewhere .

That's how it comes across, pure and simple.

i am a member of SOS and regularly receive emails about meetings and activities (i can't make it to meetings myself because i'm not based in liverpool anymore). i have also had a good read of the website and discussed things with other members. i just rechecked the website to make sure and i'm damned if i can find anywhere in any of these lines of communication where it even suggests that the issue is the nationality of the owners. surely if it was the cornerstone of their message it would be leaping off the page at me, right?

to be more precise, point number 3 in the 'why should i join?' section says

"We are not against the current owners because they want to make money from the club, or because they are American, or even because they have no understanding or concept of our history and traditions."

not quite sure where you are getting your ideas from...

if you read back you'll see i'm talking about the protests and media coverage. Almost every SOS related image i've seen has anti-american banners or sentiments.

It is the image they put across and they seem happy with it.

That's not true. There are going to be Hicks and Gillette banners banded about at the world cup and I know for a fact that those who made it were keen to keep any mention of American out of it as it was a world cup and USA fans could be offended.

But in regards to the flag burning incident, pull your skirt up will you what's the matter with you? Are you really that upset about a little flag? The club is getting killed from the inside here and your worried about the thoughts and feelings of people who don't even give a flying feck about the club?

However, the image it portrays to potential investers upsets me greatly. Read my locked thread if you want to know why...

Aye, like a couple of Arabs have never sparked up star spangled one before, right? Secretly, some billionaire arab might have seen that and thought to himself that this club is his cup of tea. Would be an absolute f*cking geg if the cause of us being bought over by some mega rich arab was because of some bloke purely venting his anger by burning a flag.

Another thing: strange how those that are gurning about the flag burning are the same people who were gurning about Benitez. You're either with us or against us? If you're with us, back up the cause. Against us, you can f*ck off! Plain and simple. People have a right to be angry, and a right to vent that anger in any way the deem necessary, so long as it's relatively peaceful.

Well junior, the big :censored: problem is that when you burn the flag of a country, don't assume that everyone who sees that isn't going to take it as a direct insult.  Don't asume that it won't be taken as an insult to those it wasn't meant to offend.

I've stayed away from this subject for a bit but I've had my fair share of biting my tongue.

I fully understand that the flag burning was meant for two idiot dipshits but the thing that really bothers me, the two idiot dipshits who that was a signal to couldn't give a damn about the flag burning.

Instead of taking the easy way out and doing the cliche' thing of burning the American flag, why not show some :censored: creativeness and come up with something that shows the character of LFC and the creative nuance that the rest of the world associates with the city of Liverpool?

I understand why it was done.  But as a US Veteran (and fought right along with Englishmen), I won't for a second deny that It didn't severely disappoint me in seeing something related to a club I love insult me, even if it wasn't intended to.

Ah, well. Flag burning tends to happen when you worm your way into other people's traditions and customs, steal from them, then p*ss all over them in the process. Some people are naturally going to take offense to those kinds of things. Nothing you can do about that. I'd have thought you'd have gotten used to the notion of your flag being burnt by now. I know I'm used to mine being torched, but it doesn't offend me.

Well I'm glad you got the general gist of my post.  However the thing that really matters, is that it only :censored: off people that it wasn't intended to :censored: off.  Gillette and Hicks couldn't care less about it.

Good to here your opinion mate, I'd like to hear more from you and other Americans on this. TBH I've not fully made up my mind on the flag issue yet but I'm siding with it being an ill thought-out idea overall.

I've read quite a few other good, longterm, US Liverpool supporters posts/ articles expressing their disappointment at having their nations flag burnt by other Liverpool supporters and I can understand that. Why should you be tarred with the same brush as Hicks and Gillette?

Probably best to discuss over in the flag thread. Was there much coverage about this in America?

you know what The good yank i can fully understand how it might upset a few people but so is this whole saga, whilst they might of just been venting off when they burnt the flags if it ends up hightlighting are cause over there in the USofA and then that brings the spotlight more on G&H from where they probably think there away from it all then it might end up doing some good afterall.

I watched on the news some Americans burning the Union Jack in relation to BP's oil spill and I must say I was offended. I know it was in reaction to the name BRITISH Petroleum but I was still offended (and I have been to college in the United States and know most Americans have an affinity to the British). Watching your own flag burning is offensive, and I am not sure you rationalize that "it is not personal".

I am not sure burning the US flag helps our cause one bit, but having said that I can see the frustration and since they are labeled as the "Yanks" it is always going to come into play. Need to avoid it however.

Can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm in complete agreement with Kazza here

I think we all need to move on from the flag debate now, some fans from Texas Rangers have been intouch on RAWK and they are going to organise something on their side of the pond for the 3 clubs hicks is screwing over The Rangers, Stars and us. What Hicks has done to the Rangers he will do to us.

Also this silence from Gillett has me worried that Hicks has more control over us than Gillet.

*cries*

Tom Hicks and George Gillett, the club’s owners, have vowed to sell their stakes in Liverpool, though it is believed that is likely to be a rather longer process than first anticipated, with estimates now offered in years rather than months

Yes 6/4
No 1/2

Torres to be at Liverpool next season:
Yes 4/6
No 11/10
