Had our legitimate goal stood instead of being ruled out then we could have scored a few like the mancs did - or simply won - but the point is they got the early goal and took the poke out of Stoke.

I think so too...... an early goal is the key to whether the game is a comfortable one for us. Leave it late and it could become cagey as we push forward for a goal.

I'd guess that Rafa'll line us up like this.

                 Reina

Carra   Hyypia    Agger       Aurelio

Kuyt     Lucas     Mascherano      Riera
                Gerrard

                  Keane

I get a feeling that both Skrtel and Torres aren't going to start as they're probably not fully match fit yet so they may be used off the bench for Hyypia and Keane a little later in the 2nd half. May even see Babel or Benayoun for Riera.

C'mon lads!..... Time to pull away a little... The mancs are playing chelsea and hopefully a draw is on the cards. Arsenal are playing their traditional bogey team in the form of Bolton. No better time to show our full intentions. If and when we win..... the pressure will be on both the 2nd and 3rd placed teams to keep up which hopefully will result in either a draw or a victory for Chelsea.

I'd go with that apart from Torres for Keane upfront.

With Man Utd and/or Chelsea guaranteed to drop points we simply have to take advantage and win this game.

I feel a lot more comfortable when we are away from home with Mascherano in the team. He is a key player for us. Not always recognised as a match winner but we need him in front of the back 4.

Although if Stoke sit in an defend and try to make it hard for us then he may be sacrificed early in the 2nd half in favour of a 2nd striker.

ya really think stoke would come out and attack against a liverpool side thats top of the league with the best striker in the world back in the side ? home or away they'r always gonna park the bus and look to hit us on the break or from throw ins... cant believe im saying this but yea,,, we gotta look out for the throw ins... especially with no fuller (their only good player) they will pprobably just hit it long and try to win as many setpieces as possible

Their two main players, Fuller and Delap are both out so I'm going for a comfortable win. Infact I see the game being very similar to the Preston match but lets hope this time we put our chances away.

I fancy us to win this and for Chelsea to beat Manure, not too bothered what Arsenal do, more concerned with Aston Villa these days to be honest.

I don't quite care the manner we win this.. but it MUST be a win.

I hope Chelsea can draw or win on Sunday bcos I really believe they won't last the race this season. But unfortunately, I can't see it happening.

thrilling eh :D

That means me getting a load of abuse then Judge  :sniffle
Going to the game but have to stand with the stokies - feeling really excited about seeing the Red Men in action but how will I cope with not being able to react and respond to the game, my son always tells me shouting at the TV doesnt make any difference (we know its does though dont we !) Just dont know how I'm going to not do it with them a few feet in front of me!!!!    :wwww

Someone on RAWK has said Hyypia, Keane and Alonso will not be playing tommorrow, I didnt expect Alonso to feature anyway but if its true im suprised at that Hyypia and Keane arnt travelling.

Of course it maybe bull like.

I saw that, too.  But I'm not sure if that lad had any sources.

This match is made for Hyypia.  With Fuller out, Sami can defend against Stoke's long balls and size upfront without worrying about a lack of pace.

And if Keane doesn't feature, Torres has to play upfront, I feel.  But I really don't want Nando to get the lumps kicked out of him.

MUST WIN GAME... would be stupid to leave Keane out of this one if he aint injured... absolutely ridiculous if true...las time out the fckers held us only because our attacking play was lacking... Torres and Keane should start upfront with Riera and benayoun down the flanks... gerrard and mascherano through the middle... attack them from every part of the pitch id say... have agger in there as well to make the runs through the middle and open up spaces... just go out attacking from the go...

this is where the season starts for us.. manutd playing chelsea and we have an easy game in our hand...

go out and beat them and extend our lead in the top of the table...

all players had plenty of rest over the last couple of weeks and im guessing even torres should be back to full fitness by now... start him i say then take him off or not depending on how things are going..

3-0 torres, keane and gerrard(pen).

Ace, I'm loving your formation.  But I have a strong feeling Kuyt will start.  If he does, I'd rather have him up front, but we all know it will be on the right  :(

Yea im pretty sure he'll start as well...
not so sure about wanting him playing upfront though... with keane and torres we have 2 quality forwards who can score AND contribute to general play higher up the pitch.. meaning in and around the opposition box... Kuyt can score the odd goal here and there but besides that his contribution when we have possession of the ball is almost nonexistent if not detrimental...

Key in this game might very well be how our forwards move without the ball.. how they open up spaces for other players to exploit, and also how they link and open up play from deep within opposition territory... suits keane way more than it does kuyt imo..

Having said all that if he was to play, id much rather it be down the right flank for benayoun rather than upfront for keane.. at least he can then stick to his overly simple passing style without causing much harm and he can also come in from the far post when the ball is played from the left to utilize his decent heading ability...

I’d much rather he doesn’t start in the first place, but then again the chances of that happening are slim, and that would be an understatement.
