Very fitting. 2015 is an end of an era on so many levels.

But onwards and upwards. We'll have more stars and world class players, although not many will touch the level of Stevie G

well said mate  :bowdown
Gerrard has earned his place alongside the likes of Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish and Liddell as people who have defined this club. When he was in his 20's and had the world at his feet his decision to continually turn down the biggest and richest clubs in Europe in order to stay at his hometown club will never be forgotten in this city, ever.

Don't post much these days but had to pop in and pay a tribute to our captain. Having done that I'm not certain there's any words that can be said that justify the contribution of Steven Gerrard to Liverpool Football Club - or the appreciation I have for the man.

All the best in LA lad, there's always a place in Liverpool for you

Steven Gerrard - You'll Never Walk Alone

All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Today was purely about giving a glorious send off to one of the finest players ever to grace Anfield ,and sadly the only ones who provided this were the fans.
Grown men cried in that Kop earlier ,and those too proud to weep fought a running battle with a lump in their throat the size of a beach ball.
I've seen many players depart Anfield ,but this has to be one of the most emotional experiences ,this was 'special', a send off reserved for Liverpool's favourite son.

We the fans have been blessed to share such joyous moments of sheer genius with our captain ,and since he first stepped onto Anfield's lush turf as a precocious
teenager its been a complete privilege to watch him evolve into the legend he became.

I wouldn't put myself down as an emotional football supporter at all, but there's been a few occasions these past few years seeing Kenny coming back and then go again, Carra leaving and perhaps the biggest of all y'day. I can't believe that I have cried the amount of times that I have so far over someone I've never met and never actually seen play in person...v. weird. The walk out onto the pitch first time around, twice during the send off and then I had to turn the TV off when the last montage from Sky came on...couldn't handle it anymore. Watched it this evening and went again....am too scared to watch MOTD...ridiculous really. What an amazing amount of goals that they had to choose from and boy oh boy am I and we going to miss you Stevie.
