Also he is hardly likely to come out and say to the press.
Its not the players fault the manager has left the squad bare in key areas and sticks with players that are out of form and formations that are not suited.
If he did that - which i think he probably believes, he would get slaughtered by everyone for not helping the club and making things worse.
So he makes the traditional we're to blame statement - that all struggling clubs players meter out and everyone believes that thats his actual opinion.
GET REAL

I would have posted a smilie too, but I wasn't sure which would be the right one to use.
feck off saint, any chance of a balanced view from you is gone since you were one of the five out of hundreds that voted me "baddie of the forum". You said (threatened) you would ignore me and I had no objection so give it a try. I responded to a non football post in the same manner yet you have no problem with the original post because you agree with it. Practice what you preach and ignore me, I'll live don't worry.
Mick is a big boy and is quite happy to antagonize, and responds very quickly to my posts (in his usual eloquent way), so why the velvet glove treatment. He is hardly a victim. Or is it you that is the victim for having to read it, because if it is there is an option (something to do with ignoring and poster)
I think its you that should feck off. I offered to ignore you .... not threatened, but your pathetic stalking is spoiling more and more threads, so like it or lump it I will be commenting on it.
I also said that I thought you were a decent poster when you bothered to post about football rather than Mick, maybe I was wrong and all you can do is stalk people rather than join in the football discussions?
Why don't you try using the ignore option yourself and ignore Mick , me too if that helps.
It doesn't matter whether I agree with Mick's comments or not, I certainly don't agree with your pathetic stalking.

Chelsea have now lost their big guns, Utd are constantly playing utter garbage and we have the potential to go on a run after the Villa game and sign a few good players like Maxi etc to deepen the squad. Also Aquilani is playing decent enough and Masch will come back fit.

Steven Gerrard has delivered a hard-hitting assessment of Liverpool's disappointing season, insisting he and his team-mates must take responsibility.
The Reds' campaign can already be described as a failure following their exit from the UEFA Champions League at the group stages.
Rafa Benitez's team are also in a fierce battle to qualify for next season's European Cup as ahead of Sunday's crucial meeting with fourth-placed Tottenham they trail Spurs by four points.
A number of poor displays have led to suggestions that Benitez, who guided Liverpool to second in the Premier League in 2008/09, could be facing the sack, but captain Gerrard is in no doubt as to where the blame should lie.
"People have said our position is puzzling after last season's success. It's not puzzling at all. The table never lies, we haven't been good enough," he told Zoo magazine.
Big belief
"We are in this position for a reason and it tells us that we really haven't been good enough, and the players have to take responsibility for that.
"All us Liverpool players have got to look at our league position, roll our sleeves up and get this football club back where it belongs, as far up the table as possible."
He added: "It has been hard to take this season, yes. We're all very disappointed with the way things have gone, especially after finishing second last campaign.
"There was a big belief we could go all the way. But now is not the time for hiding. We have to look at ourselves and put it right.
"We must aim for the top four, and that is something big to play for still. It's a priority now, as it always is at this club, for financial reasons and because all top players want to play in the Champions League, me included.
"I still think we can turn the corner. As captain, I've got to make sure that happens. It's fine looking at why it's happening, but we need to put it right on the pitch."

Clearly he is a "real fan"
"We are in this position for a reason and it tells us that we really haven't been good enough, and the players have to take responsibility for that. "
Not the manager then..?
