Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Nice work mate.
Surprised Coutinho came 4th in the player ratings (though to be fair the 2 CB's did have decent games, United barely had a chance).

Cheers yakka

Liverpool v West Brom Oct 22nd

Karius - 5 - not much to do but wasn't at all convincing when involved. Should have done better not to concede the corner that resulted in a goal
Clyne - 7 - up and down the pitch all night, did well in defence and helped the attack when needed
Matip - 7 - calm and composed defending, unlucky not to get the clean sheet
Lovren - 7 - ditto
Milner - 6.5
Henderson - 7 - thought he was one of the better players in the second half when WBA were threating. When everyone seemed tired he looked like he just came on
Can - 7 - played well, would have been a higher ranking if not for the missed chances
Lallana - 6 - not as involved as he's been lately, but guess that's to be expected considering he just came back from injury
Mane - 7 - good goal and worked hard
Coutinho - 8 - definitely motm, worked hard, passed it really well and scored a good goal
Firmino - 7 - like Can, would have been a better rating if he didn't miss so much

Subs:
Wijnaldum - 6 - did well when he came on
Lucas - n/a
Origi - n/a

KARIUS - 6 thought he looked a bit more composed than he did against United, West Brom's set pieces are hard work for any keeper to deal with so I'll give him a bit of leeway.
CLYNE - 7.5 athletic display, fine performance
MATIP - 7 solid and composed on the ball, had a good game
LOVREN - 7 rock solid in open play
MILNER - 6.5 reliable as always, you wouldn't know he's a converted midfielder (which says it all really)
HENDERSON - 7 distributed the ball well today I thought (on top of his usual energy)
CAN - 7 energetic performance, tried to do a bit too much early on but settled down and ended up having a good game, should have scored though
LALLANA - 6.5 ran out of steam a bit (which is to be expected) but still played well, his pressing and energy is central to everything we do.
COUTINHO - 8 MoTM display
MANE - 7 great goal and fine performance
FIRMINO - 7.5 great link man and hard worker, like Can should have scored but played really well.

Karius - 5 - Didn't have a lot to do and when he did I thought it was less than impressive. Early days but for me so far the fella isn't looking like a step up from Mignolet.

Thanks mate.

LIVERPOOL v tottenham hotspur.         (EFL CUP)

MINGOLET - 7 made some crucial saves especially in the last quarter of an hour
ALEXANDER-ARNOLD - 7 great job on Nkoudou who can be a handful on his day, looks a real prospect and loved his celebration when Sturridge scored his first.
KLAVAN - 6.5 solid performance but passed back to the keeper a bit too much
LUCAS - 7.5 penalty aside thought he was outstanding
MORENO - 6.5 had a good game but went AWOL at the end when that young lad had a chance to equalise.
STEWART - 7 works hard this lad and wins a lot of tackles
GRUJIC - 6.5 did well
WIJNALDUM - 6.5 thought he was slightly leggy but great assist for Sturridges second.
EJARIAH - 6.5 I like this lad, very composed and got great vision
ORIGI - 8 big, strong, quick and skillful, caused Spurs no end of trouble with his powerful runs.
STURRIDGE - 8 scored 2 but maybe should have had 4, scoring 2 goals in 1 game takes a bit of doing though!

Mignolet - 7 - had some important saves in the final minutes, especially the one he caught from Wanyama's shot
Alexander-Arnold - 6.5 - seen a lot of praise for him but I thought he was just OK. Pretty good for a debut though
Lucas - 7 - captain's performance, very good game, but very nervy in the final 15 minutes and gave away a needless penalty (although soft)
Klavan - 6.5 - was OK but kinda nervy for an experienced player
Moreno - 6
Stewart - 7 - thought he was pretty good protecting the back 4. Somewhat limited player but does a very good job when needed
Wijnaldum - 7 - played ok and a good assist for Sturridge
Grujic - 6.5 - has potential this boy
Ejariah - 6.5 - another lad with potential
Origi - 7.5 - the constant singing of his name and the standing ovation at the end said it all really. Unlucky not to cap his performance with a goal or an assist
Sturridge - 8 - maybe not as good as Origi performance-vise, but, as usual, his two goals won us the game

Subs:
Ings - 6 - happy to see him finally get back on the pitch
Clyne - 6
Can - n/a

Karius - 6 - had a few good interventions. Not much he could do about the goals, would be harsh to put blame on him for the first one
Clyne - 6.5
Matip - 7.5 defended well and scored
Lovren - 6.5 - handled Benteke well for most part of the game, scored a goal, but should have done better for both their goals
Moreno - 6.5 - got forward well in the first half but did his usual antics at the back
Henderson - 7 - played well for most part of the game I thought, and nice assist for Firmino
Can - 7 - average game mostly but good goal
Lallana - 6 - not up to speed yet
Mane - 6 - played OK but missed a few good opportunities at crucial times
Coutinho - 8.5 - unplayable when in form
Firmino - 7.5

Subs:
Wijnaldum - 6
Origi - n/a
Klavan - n/a

KARIUS - 6 no chance with any of the goals and made some decent saves, his distribution is a bit iffy at times though
CLYNE - 6 had a decent game
MATIP - 7 played well and great goal
LOVREN - 5.5 awful mistake for their first, beaten in the air by MacArthur for their second but did show a lot of character to go down the other end and score. Defending improved second half too.
MORENO - 6 good going forward and some nice cover work at the back but one or two erratic moments in there too
CAN - 6.5 good goal and worked hard, needs to let the ball do his running for him sometimes though
HENDERSON - 7.5 put out a lot of fires with some great tracking back, nice through ball for Firmino as well.
LALLANA - 5.5 worked hard but one of his quieter games
COUTINHO - 7.5 played well
MANE - 6.5 decent game but missed a sitter
FIRMINO - 7 worked hard and beautifully taken goal

Are we scoring out of 8....

Some very mean marks here lads. 7.5 or Couts - he was a 9 for me. 5.5 for Lovren - had a cracking game and made up for a daft mistake - 7.5 for me

Karius 7
Clyne 7
Moreno a surprising 7.5
Lallana 7
Mané 7.8
Firmino 8
Henderson 8 excellent captains job today - growing into the job
Can 7
Matip 8 loving this lad and he cost nothing
