Peter crouch - Crouch deal agreed for seven million

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I cant recall any previous players, that lanky who were any good.
maybe nial quinn for man sh*tty in the 80's is the only beanpole I can think of, an I dont think he could head the ball.

I dont think being 6ft 7" is that much of an advantage, as an awful lot of defenders are 6ft +.

maybe Crouch can scare the defences with his ugly mug??

hands up who' getting "crouch" on the back of their home shirt?

I dont know...

we always make fun of the bitters because of "bent"...

but thats actually because bent doesnt score, so if crouchy performs well, I wouldnt mind wearing a "crouch" shirt.

Apparently he's starting against Olympiakos, so we'll get a chance to see him real soon.
From the Daily Record"
FOOTBALL: PETE RED TO START
Jul 21 2005

PETER CROUCH should make his Liverpool debut in a friendly against Olympiakos in Liechtenstein on Saturday.

The Southampton striker became Rafael Benitez's most expensive signing of the summer yesterday when he completed a £7million move.

Manager Benitez said: 'I'm delighted we have signed Peter.

'He is a good player with a lot of qualities and his arrival will give me more options up front

He's going to be used in away games to hold the ball up.  Last season we didn't have anyone who could do that and look how few chances we created.  If we play the ball up to his feet (and not in the air!) and make runs from midfield we'll create a lot of dangerous situations.  I can see him laying it off for Gerrard, Garcia, Alonso, Zenden etc, who'll be almost impossible to track.

if he balances the ball on top of his head, no one will get it. he could just head towards goal and score!!
