Apparently we've placed a five million bid now.

well hes a has been cause if u look after he left arsenal, hes been utter ****** to be honest, real madrid one of the biggest clubs in the world, he flops, im unsure about him, i wouldn't like to say no way, but surely we can do better than him

Does it look like we have a hell of a lot of cash right now? Furthermore most class strikers are too expencive and already cup-tied. So we narrow it down to Morientes and Anelka.

I think Real should give us £1 million plus Morientes in exchange for Nunez.

After all they did value him at £6 million didnt they?

You are joking? If Juve wanted a 0-0 draw they could get it, they have let in 1 goal so far in the competition I believe, in a 1-1 draw.
Shaky defence? lol

Quote from The Daily Mail

Reds face battle for Morientes

17:22pm 20th December 2004

Liverpool will face competition from "several European clubs" as they increase their interest in Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes.
Reports suggest the Anfield club have already had a £3.5million bid for the 28-year-old turned down, but the player's agent, Gines Carvajal, insists he knows nothing of specific offers.

However it is believed Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has registered his interest in Morientes with the player's representative.

Carvajal said: "It is certain Liverpool are interested in the player but I don't believe there have been any concrete propositions for a transfer.
"Morientes only wants to play and today this is impossible in Real Madrid. The player is a great striker and there are several European clubs interested in him."

Doesn't say who the other interested parties are !!!!!!!

Probably because there are none, he's cup-tied most clubs wouldn't buy him.

i know we dont have alot of money to spend but morienties is one player i want cup tied or not, but yes i see what you mean, woulud be nice to get someone for the champions league as well, hard though to get that, i'd be quite happy having the same team to play the rest of the champions league, and buy quality players cup tied or not in january

A think a lot of clubs would be interested in a striker of Morientes' quality cup tied or not. Certainly it would be a consideration but not if your looking beyond the various cup competitions .Clubs are still battling through their respective leagues remember.

Morientes would certainly be in demand when he becomes available, as there are plenty of big clubs who can afford him who aren't in Europe.

There are also a number of clubs who would sign him regardless. Last summer half of Europe wanted him.

I like the idea of having a main strike pool in Baros ,Morientes, Anelka  and Cisse.
Midfield is looking good , Kewell showing signs of playing his way back to some form. If we could sign a bit more quality into the defense we could be very solid outfit .

There are a couple of reasons why I think Morientes would come here:

a)Rafa Benitez and the rest of the Spaniards in our club
b)Liverpool is a big name and the Premiership is a popular league so what better way to establish yourself in one of the best leagues then by joining a club that currently has Spanish influence.

I think we are probably two class players away from being fairly competitive woof, although we probably need another 2 on top of that to really go for it.

i agree with you JBG, that we could make a push for the forward with 2 other key signings as well as the strikers

Morientes all the way. It does not matter that he is cup tied in the Cl, we do not have enough depth in the squad to win it this year with the League and FA cup as well as the PL.
He could score the vital goals which help us get in there with a great chance next year though.
