What stood out a mile to me comparing this game to the Boro' game was the wide play.

Insua and Aurelio probably had similar performances but Masch, Benni and Reira were infinately more effective than Skrtle, Babel and El Zhar at the weekend.

The latter three were probably the worst perfomers on Saturday but in stark contrast, the three who played today were arguably our best performers............and what a difference it makes to our play. Even though Sunderland were stubborn and did their best to defend we had a threat about us all game tonight and to me, it all stemmed either directly or indirectly from our wide play.

Just makes it even more frustrating that we effectively rotated ourselves out of a potential 3 points at the weekend as this team would've won comfortably IMO.

Good 3 points though.........bring on Madrid

Good post, you read a lot the boards mate but you post little!

Bring more posts.

Agreed. Would have loved Yossi to have played at the weekend.

Some positives from tonight. Stevie seems to be coming back to full fitness. Mascherano did well at right back - although Downing would have been a different test entirely. Insua looks like he has the makings of a great player - hard as nails. Reira had one of his better games. David Ngog (why does everyone call him Egg Nog?) looked bright and his confidence was high - I think it's too early to judge him yet - he's only 19 and looks like a kid.

Body language of who Lynds, Rafa or the players? Gerrard did look to me like he'd found a tenner and realised it was Turkish Lira, but then he always looks a bit like that.

about the performance. It was one of the best our performance this season. Also this game showed that I was right about everything I was saying last months. I said several times that we will not play good game till we are out of the title race. It is Rafa`s system that put us down season after season. But when Rafa cancels his system,we are probably the best side in England. I saw today our players changing positions, making difficult passes, driving with the ball... We can see that when benitez drops his ego and let our, more than good enough players to PLAY some footie.

Ciggy, I reckon Rafa's looked a bit dead man walking for a while, is that how he looked tonight? I havent watched the match

Cheers for the goals Dundalk :)

Good result and decent performance if a little wasteful in front of goal if I had to be critical. We never looked stretched after Jones had that early chance and the only threat we had was whether or not we'd shoot ourselves in the foot....again.

Egg Nog looked decent and showed some nice touches, he took his goal well after Gerrards headed cross (off his 50p head  :D ), whether he's got the ability to become a future star for us, it's too early to say.

Rafa for once got his league tactics right. No argument that he's a master tactician but tonight his approach was to go for the goals first and then shut up shop. Too often it's been the other way around, if he'd have had this approach more often this season then maybe the Mancs would still have been playing catch up. ???

THought we were woeful overall.

5/10 whole team.

N'gog had a tap in but was mediocre overall. he cant take people on and beat them full stop.

Kuyt. the same.

Benayoun was prob man of match or Carra.

Jones should have buried that for Sunderland. we would have seen different game.

Disapointed overall. we played like a team that has lost direction.

Jamie Redknap said it all at half time.."Rafa has had 190 million to spend and that is all we have got on bench...Hyypia, El Zahir, Lucas and Babel! ???" when Utd have got " Berbatov, Rooney, Tevez, Scholes Etc".... Im afraid that tells the whole story.....

Rick Parry is not the only man who should be looking for a new position come the summer IMO.

That sounds like you dont want him to either CIggy.

I personally have my doubts....

who is Rafa gonna buy in summer to make all the difference?

thats what u as an LFC need to ask yourself.

How does a smiley sound like things?

After seeing him tonight and on saturday I think he is gone, and no I am not happy about it.

If anyone thinks for one minute a new manager is going to come in and turn our players into world beaters then they are wrong, we seriously need investment in the team our squad is sh!te. But its not going to happen is it? When we are feckin skint. Thanx Moores & Parry.
