We are in my own humble opinion, now merely paying the price for employing a manager who is completely devoid of any real passion or commitment . Two qualities that both English national and league sides have been built on over the years. Passion and commitment are what the English do best. We're not brought up listening to samba beats on the radio and playing footsal on the beach! We never will be! We should play to our strengths and get a manager in who understands just what the strengths of English football are!

I am of the opinion, and have been since the european championships (when we limped out) that we need someone different managing England.
I know you hear it all the time but this imo is the best group of players we have had together since 66.
I was always worried about the keepers, but Robinson has stepped up.
Neville we all hate him, but he is as steady as they come at RB, Ashley Cole brilliant coming forward and although not the best defender his pace will get him out of trouble 9 times out of 10.
CB quite clearly with Terry Carragher Ferdinand King Campbell and even Woodgate, the envy of world football.
Midfield Fat Frank Gerrard Beckham Wright Phillips Joe Cole, even Downing.
Then the strikers Rooney potentially the best in the world.
Owen Englands 4th highest scorer of all time (i think) with Defoe and even Crouch supporting them.
That team should of walked through the qulifiers scoring plenty of goals, instead its 14 in 8 games...thats not even 1 in 2.
They are so negative and tactically its a shambles, i know this is a LFC forum and that is no1 in all of our thoughts, but last night for england was the most embarrasing night i have ever witnessed.
The only plus points were Carragher playing brilliant and the fact that he and stevie never got injured.

excuse number 1 : Foriegn coach

Keegan, Hoddle, Taylor, Venable, Robson were all english. Trophies won: 0
Also LSanchez is foriegn to the N.Irish.

excuse number 2 : formations.

rooney play front left for MU
Lampard play in a 3 at chelsea
gerrard roams for Liverpool too
Becks plays in the center at real.
SWP play right wing for CFC etc etc.

excuse number 3: lack of passion from the manager.

(when questioned as to why he doesn't look passionate)
raphael Benitez quote:
"i have to remain foccused and concentrated so that my players  follow my example, ... passion? that comes from the fans, "

Good luck in WC 06

Oh, and of course we never see rafa gesticulating wildly from the edge of his technical area do we???

Positively rooted to his seat he is!!

Passion can be summed up by O'Neil running around like a mad man  when his Celtic use to score.

Gesticulating during a match is part of a managers job to communicate tactics.

Dont confuse the two.

Good luck in 06 BTW

I´m just glad that we (Sweden) haven´t got Sven-Göran Eriksson as manager. The 1-0 win away at Hungary means that we are just one win away from the WC. Germany here we come!, and this time we are really digging for gold :buttrock

confusingly you mistook "gesticulating" as showing passion.

You tried to put me in my place, but failed.

Once I explained the difference
Passion can be summed up by O'Neil running around like a mad man  when his Celtic use to score.

Gesticulating during a match is part of a managers job to communicate tactics.

Now you've tried to go back on your words, in your last post.

you are even more confused (and contradictive) than i thought.

Good luck in 06.
