Brendan Rodgers thread (signs extended contract)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If we don't beat Reading this weekend, there will be stronger calls for Andy Carroll to be recalled from West Ham. Brendan Rodgers is just being stubborn because he doesn't want to admit he made a mistake in letting him go. He really is making the manager's job harder for himself than he needs to.

Bollocks.

We will beat Reading. We have enough ammunition to do that. It is the games after Reading that I am concerned about.

thought he spoke well yesterday. he stands up for the club and the players. a million miles away from hodgson for example.

it must be tiresome for him when the media just ask the same old rubbish week in week out.

So I can't wait till January to find out whether it's true and if so, who BR will bring in. As far as strikers are concerned, I don't think any star names will want to come because we'll be a relegation fighting side by then. So we can only attract the not so brilliant strikers but can still bang in the goals given the chance and Sturridge from Chelsea will fit the bill.

f*ck me, cheery chappy you are.

As annoyed as I am at Suarez, there is definitely an agenda against him. I think the best thing for him is to try and remain on his feet at all times. Taking a tumble in the box sees his reputation stay in tact and it also gives those who want rid of him from the Premier League more ammunition to use against him. Diving is not solely a problem with South Americans or Europeans, it's problem with all nationalities, the best diver in the league is Ashley Young closely followed by Gareth Bale, because they're British, they get a free pass it seems.

The youngsters did well today, but I dont see man city or united , or chelsea for that matter, starting matches with three youth players.

Thats why the score today was 1-0 and not 5-0.

We will get found out, dont worry about that. We are leaving too much to "chance".!

1-0 or 5-0, it doesn't matter to me, all that matters is the result and maximum points.

Broken record... Man City and Chelsea has multi billionaire owners, if that's what you want maybe you should go and support them. United's position and ours are totally different. United has been at the top of the PL for a decade and a half and they have had one manager ie continuity. They can afford to add just one/ two players every season and improve incrementally. We on the underhand are in complete re-building stage. BR is having to build the team from scratch. Players like Gerrard and Carragher are but remnants from another era. They are not for the future. The sooner people realise this the less tiresome this forum will be...

Let's be honest and upfront on this, if a side is fielding youngsters,it means they have a thin squad, which we are. I have many, too many in fact criticisms of FSG and BR for Liverpool's results and in the transfer market since the summer. The summer transfer activities was a cruel joke TBH. But I'll give them time and see if FSG in particular are serious in bringing the glories back to Liverpool. They've taken the first step in planning to rebuild Anfield, that's good and so let's see how they move from there.

I congratulate Brendan for his first win at Anfield but for everyone's sake, FSG and Brendan, please do all you can to get that prolific striker in January. Otherwise, the best we can do is play like Barcelona and end up losing or drawing. If we had a Torres/Owen/Fowler playing against Reading, we would won by at least a 2 goal margin instead of a nervy slim victory.

I think we do have some depth.

The likes of Cole, Downing, Carroll The differance is Brod rates Suso, Barnes mk2 and Borini higher.

We need a STRIKER no a forward but an out and out goal getter.

He is doing ok with what must be the tighest budget restrictions imposed on a
Liverpool manager in the last 30 years.

With ground redevelopment rumoured to be close you cannot see that changing
much with money likely to be even tighter, so unless the owners are prepared
to dig deep into their own pockets he will have to get used to working on what
are relatively small budgets historically for Liverpool.

At this point we are fielding a side made up of an even split of youth team and
first team players which would be a tough ask for any club in the Premiership,
even the elite squads.
