Excellent news. A two year deal with an option for an extra twelve months.

Fully deserved. There aren't many better out there.

I dont think hes put a wrong foot in since hes been here and he had improved so much under Rafa. Hopefully he can take his form into this season.

many people on this site doubted him at the start, as did Rafa but big Niall always knew that he is quality.

in all fairness though, he had a lot to live upto after babbel left. babbel was a phenomenal player. after finnan's first season there was a lot of talk about him going to spurs.

I think the same could be said for most Liverpool fans when he came in the squad. It was always going to be hard to emulate Babbel but hes done bloody well.

Steve Finnan is absolute quality. A true unsung hero, but I think he likes it that way. A lot like Carragher is in terms of keeping a low profile, rarely puts a foot wrong and works his socks of for the club day in day out.

i think finnan is hugly underated, not from us liverpool fans but from around europe in general. since his arrivel i havent seen one bad performance from him and i rate him really high

He has always been quality, I first saw him long before Rafa came along.

You notice when he is missing how much we miss those crosses being whipped in.

I think if he played for a big country he'd get a lot more attention - see Roberto Carlos for details.
