I though the draw was more because of too many of our players having off days and the wrong substitutions at the wrong times than how Everton set up.  They pressed us well but offered nothing as an attacking threat.  They were there for the taking imo.

Don't understand how Can is getting so much praise.  He had some good moments on the ball but took far too many chances and Skrtel was right to bollock him 2nd half for overplaying it.  He was poor overall considering he was picked as a centre half, not a fu.cking playmaker in the defensive third.  Could have cost us the game.  Sakho on the other side had a nightmare and but for Skrtel we would have been in real trouble.

Moreno did nothing, Henderson was average, Allen lost his personal battle with Naismith and was poor overall, Sterling and Coutinho were below par and Gerrard didn't influence the game.

Everton only opened up last 15 minutes and that was our chance to win it.  But instead of capitalising on the gaps opening up with our fast players, we had withdrawn Coutinho and Sterling (granted they weren't at their best but could have done some damage) and left a front 3 including Lambert and Gerrard.

Plus points were more minutes for Sturridge, a good performance from Ibe, a good performance from Mignolet (when called upon - great save from Coleman late on) and another clean sheet.

In terms of manager v manager Martinez won despite them being the home side. Everton lined up to not lose and they got a draw and a clean sheet.

As someone else mentioned he changed the players for layers less suited to that role and Rodgers still attempted to play the same way.

Sterling has become too greedy and needs a bollocking for the constant times he had a team mate in a better position but still shot or tried running through a player.

Sakho had a poor game and if it wasnt for the great perfromance by Can i think we could have conceded.

Creativity was poor and the limited shots we had was poor

Good point about Sterling, it's starting to become a feature of his game now, he had a great chance to put Gerrard through one on one with Cortouis when we played Chelsea and he had at least two opportunities yesterday to put a team mate in but chose to shoot instead. There's nothing wrong with having a pop at goal when the shots on but Sterling is shooting from all sorts of angles and in situations where there's a low chance of success.

I wouldn't even class it as shooting, I have seen harder hit back passes

On one occasion where we conceded a corner he over played but but overall Can was very good and having a couple of players at the back who can play football has gone a long way to stopping the panic that we saw earlier in the season.

On Sterling I've also noticed occasions where he will square a ball rather than play a team mate through. It was against Bolton a think when Sturridge was clean through if Sterling played it, but instead he gave it square to feet and ran through himself. Sturridge can't have been happy as he didnt play it through either. As selfish as it is, it does display some football intelligence that could be nurtured.

As others have mentioned too the substitutions didn't help, Gerrard spent most of the second half walking about and he should have well been dragged off, when you have someone on the pitch doing so little in terms of basic graft it just piles the pressure on others to cover even more ground.
Lambert coming on made the situation even worse, that meant that basically 20% of our team were doing f**k all when Everton had the ball, no wonder they came into the game late on and might have even won it.

Exactly, if you f*ck up like that and want to make it up, you need to win the harder games, especially the ones where you have a good chance of winning.

I honestly thought that Everton were there for the taking. It wasn't them that canceled us out, it was ourselves being bad. We created very little, and when we did have a chance we screwed it up in the worst way possible (Sterling I'm looking at you). In fact, they actually had the best chance of the game and they would have won it were it not for a wonder save by Mignolet. Worst of all is that it looked as if we were happy with a draw. I don't think Brendan realizes how much he ***** up in the first half of the season and that he either has to make it right or risk losing his job.

This is the crux of the problem mate ,I think like myself  when the line up became known you must have been slavering at our attacking options ,but the manager
really hasn't the slightest igloo about maximising their undoubted potential ,on paper we have a team that would have most managers drooling with the possibilities
of tweaking the system to alter the course of that game ,but Rodgers just went along with the same mindset ,even when he changed the personnel he still couldn't
see the frailties he had afforded the teams overall attack and still persisted with what's starting to look like the only tactics he knows 

Tactically inept ,and terminally predictable ,against the worst Everton team  I've seen for some considerable time.

LFC1990 - you claim Martinez came out on top because he played for a draw and got one! You'll be telling me next that if he played to lose and they lost he would be the better manager! We weren't great but you only have to look at at the stats to appreciate just how big the fkg bus was that they were prepared to park. Why adopt such pathetic boring tactics given their league position? Martinez due to his recent awful run of results was petrified of losing this game and if Everton fans are happy with getting a point then good luck to them!

On a bright note I thought Ibe looked really useful. And thank goodness Mignolet made a fantastic save from Everton's one shot on goal in the 86th minute.

On the current form of teams in the league we are one of the better playing and winning teams.

Everton and Martinez more importantly would have seen the way we've been playing and the teams we have beaten and probably thought if they attempted to win this game we could have given them a spanking especially as Sturridge has just come back

Terrible derby and a poor game TBH.
We should have wiped the floor with them given their form of late compared to ours but that's football for you. They set out not to get beat and we couldn't tactically break them down. We should have scored from the chances we created but yet found our goalkeeper having to keep us in it at the death.
Coutinho should have never been taken off especially if the plan was to bring on sturridge.
Could have been worse but should have been better

Joe Allen is a hinderance and Gerrard again picked on sentiment and the sooner that is taken out of the equation the better now.

Lambert cannot do a single think right and Sturridge looks some way short of full fitness.

We can look sensational in patches and usually dominate the ball but our lack of cutting edge is still a real concern.

I think we need to get back to playing Coutinho and Lallana in behind Sturridge with Sterling and Markovic/Ibe out wide.
That way we get plenty of creativity and pace into the team, yesterday we ended up with 2 of the least dynamic players in the entire division playing in our front 3 so it's no great surprise we looked so flat in the second half.
