Ola Mr Benitez wrote:I thought Villa looked amazing ( I never thought I would write that phrase down), but I thought Silva looked lightweight.  I don't follow the Spanish league but I have seen a lot of praise for Silva on this board recently.  Was he just having an off day, coz I just don't think he would be up to the premiership battering he would get on last nights performance!

Haven't seen much of him myself, TBH, but he's widely touted.  My comment was somewhat tongue in cheek in that we can't afford to pay top dollar so let's go for the guy who didn't light up the pitch last night. :D

Let's see...he's publicly man-humped Torres and now he's grateful to Xabi and Pepe for getting him his match ball.  Sounds like he's Liverpool bound to me! :D

From .tv:

VILLA GRATEFUL TO XABI AND PEPE
Steve Hunter 12 June 2008
Spain hat-trick hero David Villa has thanked two of Liverpool's stars for helping him claim the match ball.
After his treble saw off the challenge of Russia in Spain's opening Group D game of Euro 2008 on Tuesday, the Valencia striker was left disappointed after being told by the referee he couldn't keep the match ball.

However, the intervention of teammates Xabi Alonso and Pepe Reina changed Austrian official Konrad Plautz's mind.

Villa said: "The referee said he couldn't give it to me because of a UEFA rule but Pepe and Xabi Alonso talked to him in English and managed to get the ball for me."

Spain are next in action on Saturday when they face Sweden in Innsbruck at 5pm GMT.

Heard a rumour today that Rafa has already spoken to Villa & Valencia and he will sign after the euro's and the fee is 18 million.
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.

please wake up people. Anyone who thinks for even one second that we might sign David Villa this summer needs their head testing. Not a chance.

Don't waste the money on barry, maybe we can afford David Villa. Who knows?

In Barcelona rumour has it that Villa will end up there.

And they use other photographs to back their feelings

They're quite confident because Villa apparently always had a soft spot for Barcelona since his town mate Luis Enrique joined Barcelona.

And, considering that they have Ronaldinho to sell, it seems they'll also have the required money.  :glare:

I'm definitely a gazza bazza fan but i hate oneill as much as he seems to hate us so lets unsettle him and leave him to rot instead of forking out £18m!!!

As for villa and silva if we bid we'd just get priced out of the market especially at the speed parry moves to complete transfers besides this story says their both not for sale:
