The Worst Team Of The Season

Goalkeeper

Manuel Almunia only plays for Arsenal because Arsene Wenger is too stubborn to sign anyone better and has probably been wasting his time looking for a 17-year old shot-stopper in the French second division. With a proper keeper, Arsenal may have won the league.

Defence

West Ham's error-prone Jonathan Spector gets the nod at right back. People will keep signing these Manchester United rejects and expecting them to be good.

At left back, Liverpool's Emiliano Insua has no real pretenders to his throne. He has somehow managed to play 30 useless Premier League games this season and continues Rafa Benitez's proud tradition of terrible signings.

At centre back, Arsenal's Mikael Silvestre has proved to be a worthy successor in the number 18 shirt once worn by Pascal Cygan and is another beneficiary of Wenger's weirdness.

Alongside him is Porstmouth's Ricardo Rocha. I understand that they had no money, but surely they could have done better than someone who was clearly hopeless when Spurs signed him three years ago. Rocha marked his return to the Premier League by getting sent off twice, in his first three games.

Midfield

Tottenham fans have always been split on Jermaine Jenas. There are those who despise him and those who merely hate him. Would this be the season that he finally fulfilled his potential? Nineteen anonymous league games suggests otherwise. Destined to sign for Aston Villa in the summer, to become the new Steve Sidwell.

Which bring us to... Steve Sidwell. Has anyone profited so much from a single, better than average season at a newly promoted club? First he got a move to Chelsea, where he wasn't good enough, and now he's not good enough for Villa. Mid-table teams with a few bob to spend should be wary.

I was sorely tempted to give Theo Walcott the right midfield position, but instead I'm going for Rory Delap. A throw-in does not make a footballer and I sense that Tony Pulis will find it increasingly difficult to justify Delap's place in the Stoke team, despite his freakish talent.

On the left I'm going for Stewart Downing. He cost Villa a small fortune and though he hasn't been absolutely terrible, he's certainly been very bland indeed. What's worse, he's often forced the brilliant Ashley Young out of his best position. Villa are 11.5 to finish in the top four.

Strikers

Is there a less threatening sight than Bolton's Johan Elmander clean through on goal? The Swede possesses silky skills, but sadly the ability to finish isn't in his arsenal. Elmander has scored just three league goals this season.

Still, there are some strikers who can only dream of scoring so many and Wigan's Jason Scotland is such a player. Scotland has scored one league goal in 31 largely barren appearances.

Manager

Every team needs a boss and no one has failed more spectacularly this season than Rafael Benitez. If the Spaniard had any money to spend, he would end up buying the players in this team.

Some if not most must have read we have agreed to sign that lad from Charlton Jonjo Shelvey. The way I see it Rafa is planning for next season, why else would he be looking to bring in a youngster. Sound plausible?

Rafa has every right to leave his options open and talk to other clubs I would do the same under these circumstances surrounding the future of this club.  I would want to know if twit & tw@t are staying how much is there to spend and which players are planning on seeking pastures new.
And he is the whipping boy for nearly every b@stard journo and some of our fans I wouldnt blame him for leaving for a second.

Please tell me that statement about the press having guts is a joke? They are sh!tstirring b@stards the lot of them!!!

Max Beesley who writes for the scum said on sunday supplement please stay Rafa, Please stay the other fella who was a Fulham fan said whats Wenger won in the last 6 years?
He soon shut up, if Rafa left who could they write about?
Ok I am not happy with the way things have gone this season far from it, but I will be damned if I will let any liverpool fan, any rival fan and any sh!tstirring journo abuse Rafa Benitez, complain about the results and tactics by all means.

But this taking the p!ss out of him has to stop and that goes for our fans aswell !!!

From the Independent

Benitez free to pursue potential Juve move

By Sam Wallace and Mark Fleming

Wednesday, 28 April 2010

Rafael Benitez will not face opposition from the board if he wants to leave

The attitude of the Liverpool hierarchy towards Rafael Benitez is that they will not stand in his way if the well-trailed offer from Juventus is finally put to their Spanish manager, but both parties regard that situation as still a long way off.

The pressure has been building this week, with more leaks from Italy suggesting that Benitez, who has four years left to run on his Liverpool contract, will be the subject of a £16m, four-year deal from the Italian club. While the Italians are not yet near to putting a formal request to Liverpool there is the sense that the move will speed up over the next few weeks.

Senior figures at Liverpool have indicated that – unlike in the past when Benitez has parlayed his popularity with the fans into improved contracts and greater influence at the club – this will not be the case should Juventus's offer turn out to be genuine.

Benitez was in a much stronger position in March last year when he signed his existing deal at Liverpool – a four-year extension to 2014. With the club's American co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks desperate to keep some semblance of stability to attract potential buyers, Benitez was regarded as untouchable 11 months ago.

His agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, is considered by the club as a prime mover in the attempts to broker an agreement with Juventus, although not everyone in English football is really convinced that they have the resources to complete the deal. It is likely that there will be some interest from Real Madrid in Benitez this summer, although the Juventus president, Jean-Claude Blanc, would push for a quick answer should the club put together an acceptable deal.

Benitez is still planning for next season with Liverpool, having expressed an interest in Rafael van der Vaart of Real Madrid. The 18-year-old Charlton midfielder Jonjo Shelvey also had a medical at the club yesterday before a possible £1.7m move to Anfield. Shelvey first came to prominence during the Addicks unsuccessful fight against relegation from the Championship last season and last summer was reported to have turned down a move to Chelsea.

If not i will continue to dismiss the utter bull the press say as it will once again turn out to be false just as it always has done .

You carry on believing the red tops and phone ins.

bloody hell mate, i have been telling  you all before Xmas that Rafa agent has been meeting other clubs about him leaving us.

i think thats posting something solid.

what would you like me to post, Rafa has a sh1t every 2 days and shaves every moving....well part shaves.

all i can tell you is based on what i have been told or sent, and that is Rafa agent and his PA have been working hard to find another club for Rafa.

I have posted about fights on the training ground and team busts up, all have later been reported in the press, i have posted about buyers pulling out of talks well before the press have reported them........i think i would give up if it was not for the fact that i dont care what most think.

I have given most members on here the chance to get to know me better and only a few have taken me up on that, them that have seen that i a a truthful preson.

I watched a bit of the sunday supplement the other day and seen that fella say that about Rafa.
While i dont like seeing people taking the p!ss out of anything to do with us.
I think he probably meant it. I think he thinks that with Rafa in charge we are less of a threat than if we got someone new in.

And to be honest - while i think he is a horrible smarmy arrogant c'nt, he has a point.

RAFA INTERVIEW

Last question was "does that mean you are staying then?"

Rafa's reply...... "It means our next game is against Athletico Madrid"  :O

He has had numerous chances to clarify his position yet doesn't ........ and still people think he is some sort of fecking saint.

Fabio Capello has turned down the chance to take over at Juventus to concentrate on England’s World Cup campaign.
The England manager was contacted earlier this week by the Turin club, but immediately rejected the approach.

Capello, who still has two years left on his contract with England, made it
clear he is totally focused on leading the country to South Africa this summer.

Thats the way to do it....
