Mick, they´re all pawns - Purslow, Rafa, Gerrard, Torres, Broughton, RBS, BarCap etc....   Its a fluid game and they´re all in play.

He's a walking security blanket for them, on the one hand diluting criticism which would be coming their way, and on the other splitting the supporters down the middle.

Equally, given his record in the transfer market recently there can't be many people who take his "I need four more 20 million pound players" line too seriously. I'm not saying they wouldn't be handy to have because they would, but surely even the most ardent Rafa fan would find it hard to argue that they blame the owners too much for not giving him wads of cash to spend. For the owners it's all about adding value to the club before it's sold, and only players which are worth more after you've bought them than they were before you bought them can be said to be adding value, on recent record as I say there haven't been too many of those.

So my guess is that if there is any susbstance to the rumours (and sorry Lakes but I don't think there is), it won't be long before the owners are releasing press statements saying just how much they back Rafa and how much they want him to stay at the club. As I've said before, the day Benitez leaves Liverpool would be a disaster for these two, and they'll do everything in their power to ensure it doesn't happen.

What a load of f*cking sh*te. If Benitez is to the detriment of this club, and if the Yanks are trying to raise the value of it, then it makes no sense whatsoever to keep a manager that is failing to keep them in the CL and bring in players that are, in the long term, valuable assets to them to bring the value of the team up. Surely you need to spend money these days to do that. You've got to spend money to make money. Simple economics. Your rant doesn't add up at all.

Just lovely to use Rafa as an excuse for the owners not to spend money  :no

Not sure about that.  She might play two up top at home against lesser sides.

I'm being 100% serious now . I hope he goes now and enjoy's the rest of his life with his family and get's back to being a manager again . He doesn't deserve the disrespectful bile that's being spouted by some . There's only one manager in the history of LFC that deserves the :censored: Rafa is getting and that's the That Rag loving c.unt souness. Hopefully Rafa will be remembered fondlly by supporters and we'll all move on . We'll get a new manager and we'll see where we go from there . Just my humble opinion like , but we'll never do better than Rafa, and whomever comes (big name manager or middle of the road good manager with no budget) in next will have a job and ahalf on there hands to please our fans. We don't know what the summer will bring regarding the owner situation , but it's looking more and more likely that there going . So the next owners and next manager will have a good setup to inherite (good setup .i mean first team and academy ) and if they've got a few bob they can invest in some world class players to make a challenge . If not then god help em .

Really hope he goes now in truth .

Maybe he likes the club and Liverpool ? Maybe he thinks the manager may leave? Maybe he likes the money?

I haven't seen the pm so no idea what was said, but its not impossible for  player to dislike a manager but love the club etc.

If fairness mate, most of the verbal pollution and tantrums against Rafa come from web forums, not from fans in the stadium. I sincerely hope Rafa is unaware of the tirade of abuse he gets in places like this.

I understand your feelings mate, and we all know whoever is manager will be handicapped as long as the two tw@ts are here, but I cant agree with this bit "we'll never do better than Rafa". We have had better managers before and we will have better managers again mate....... I just hope our next manager is one of them!

I just don't want Torres to leave. The club should start proceedings to take legal action with Juventus tapping up or whatever..

I hear ya mate, it's just annoying that a story like this comes out. If it was a normal BS story fair enough but to be saying they have already sat down is just a step too far imo and completely disrespectful.
