Also they are able to replace expensive flops more easily. How much did they pay for Veron? And those 2 Serbain lads. One of them was 15Mil and isn't another one out on loan (12Mil).

Fergie rotates but they have the quality in depth to be able to do that. Even if Rafa got 30mil to spend it wouldn't be enough as chances are he would also be shifting some deadwood so we would only be strengthening our first team as oppose to building strength in depth. He has been on a shestring budget for far too long.

I don't buy into this nonsense that he could have bought better for a smaller amount here and there. It's too easy to judge in highndsight and come up with names when in reality it would probably never work out that way, the fee could have been inflated ect... And how often do we miss out of primary targets? Far too often, and this is down to us not being able to spend with the likes of the teams above us. Even Spurs have spent more than us.

Juventus Meet Agent Of Liverpool Coach Rafael Benitez - Report
The Bianconeri have begun the first contacts with Benitez's entourage...
By Salvatore Landolina
Apr 13, 2010 12:50:00 PM

Juventus president Jean-Claude Blanc has met Rafael Benitez's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon to discuss the Liverpool coach's availability, according to Tuttosport.

The two men spoke about his future during a day-long meeting in Milan. And the main agenda related around Benitez's option to rescind his contract with Liverpool by paying a €16 million clause.

Quilon and Blanc also spoke about Benitez's plans and set out a policy to discuss future transfer objectives. He likes Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko and would likely bring him and Fernando Torres to Turin.

Furthermore, Juve patron John Elkann wants the best for his club, and he is ready to provide extra transfer allowances to accomodate Benitez's arrival. He has promised a cash injection to ensure both Juve and Benitez get the best deal.

Reports have previously suggested that Juventus are not in a financial straitjacket, and they have around €80m to spend following a new sponsorship deal.

The club are also prepared to pay the Spaniard €4m per annum plus success-related bonuses.

I'll be surprised if Rafa goes there, why would he want to go to Italian football? I just cant see him in Italy, good luck to him if he does tho

Lakes said he was in talks with two clubs, I'm waiting for the second to come through before I say he's right :D

Italian clubs are typically more defensive-focused than PL clubs though, so I think he'd possibly have a little more success....or at least not be lambasted as often for his negative tactics...

I actually do think he fits in italian football. Seria A use a very tactical approach and Rafa's methods will be a success there. I can see him being a top class manager for a team like juventus.

If Rafa is indeed talking with other clubs isn't that tapping up on their part?

As for Torres he has said in the past he would like to play in other countries but could they even afford his transfer fee?

This club is falling apart and RBS are happy to give twit and :censored: more time!!!!

If Rafa was here for another season the Mancs, Chelsea and Arsenal fans will be delighted.

That sums up his reputation in England.
AND HERE COMES AVI COHEN!! OH I SAY - AT THE SAME END HE'S GOT ONE BACK!!!!!!!!!!

:D  So we could end up getting more money for Rafa than any one of all but three of our players.   :buttrock

and ofcourse this post

its all old news make, what has happend is that all of a sudden the press feel its safe to start reporting the stuff they have only been talking about behind closed doors.

as i said a few weeks ago if you talk to anyone in the meadia of ex players that still go to the club they would have told you he has a job lined up....but as i posted today that might be the case anymore.

Mate Rafa called the other clubs....they did not call him.
as i said to you in a pm a few weeks ago , the press have been a bit funny about reporting it as they could end up in court, even more so if Rafa got the sack for it.

Even under the assumption that Rafa going to Juventus would save the owners having to shell out a compensation package (they'll probably ASK for compensation) I just can't see them letting Rafa go. He's a walking security blanket for them, on the one hand diluting criticism which would be coming their way, and on the other splitting the supporters down the middle.

Equally, given his record in the transfer market recently there can't be many people who take his "I need four more 20 million pound players" line too seriously. I'm not saying they wouldn't be handy to have because they would, but surely even the most ardent Rafa fan would find it hard to argue that they blame the owners too much for not giving him wads of cash to spend. For the owners it's all about adding value to the club before it's sold, and only players which are worth more after you've bought them than they were before you bought them can be said to be adding value, on recent record as I say there haven't been too many of those.

So my guess is that if there is any susbstance to the rumours (and sorry Lakes but I don't think there is), it won't be long before the owners are releasing press statements saying just how much they back Rafa and how much they want him to stay at the club. As I've said before, the day Benitez leaves Liverpool would be a disaster for these two, and they'll do everything in their power to ensure it doesn't happen.
