I don't think Fulham are game for a top four spot. That result was only good insofar as it extended Chelsea's lead over the Manc's.

Spurs look the team most likely to get fourth, IMO. They look a cracking team all round. Villa do too but they don't have the same level of firepower. City are a little harder to gauge given their defensive lapses even though they probably play the best attacking football of the bunch.

We have to raise our game tenfold if we're going to usurp that bunch and given what we've seen thus far it really does look like a stretch to see how we're going to do it. Tomorrow could either see us plunged into serious - arguably irretrievable - sh!t if we were to lose, or we could draw or win and keep ourselves in the hunt. Either way we'll still have it all to do.

Well obviously Chelsea beating Fulham was an excellent result for us (I never thought I'd hear myself say that). Birmingham winning was a bit of a blow, but it does now look like Sunderland and Stoke are falling by the wayside a bit so we ought to be able to get above them Ok.

On the downside of course, Mancini is proving to be a bit of an inspiration and looks like he knows what he's doing, which isn't that surprising I guess since he won the title three years on the bounce with Inter Milan and won the Italian Cup with three different teams. They've now won both games over Christmas, while Spurs are also looking like they aren't just going to go away without a good reason either.

I simply cannot believe that Birmingham can carry on as they are (although it has to be said they have been excellently managed so far), but Villa probably will go on for a bit. As I said earlier we probably can't afford to lose this one otherwise we are really in the sh!t.

mick you seem to have gone totally the other way lately, in that i mean the fact that you are looking at only the negative.

Man city's fixtures over xmas of stoke at home and wolves away where bound to yield 6 points.

The credit that i feel your given Mancini now is something that usually you would have passed over as it being the italisn league being easy or something.

Anyway i could be well wide of the mark but i just think that with this one but i just think that you are looking at the wrong thing all the time.
City under Mancini so far havent been great, wolves where the better side until the lucky goal.

if we only get a draw then we have a big problem, looking at the games coming up and the way we are playing we could end up 10 points off 4th.

You would expect us to improve so I think the question has to be whether we can improve by enough of a margin to leapfrog three 'very legitimate' teams (to use Joe's phrase). We'll probably need between 70 and 75 points to get fourth spot with the way the competition is this season and that means at least another ten points on top of the 30 we accrued in the first half of the season, i.e. 40. That's almost title challenging form.

spurs and city are the obvious threats. villa are overachieving in my book. they've been really fortunate with injuries over the past couple of seasons and as soon as they get a few key injuries they'll struggle imo.

Spurs are the most inconsistant team in the history of the game, city will hover around and prob finnish 5th/6th and Villa have absolutely no subs bench and arent that great. We will have Mash back fresh, Aquilani with games under his belt and players' quality like Gerrard and Torres will only improve. We'll get better, sign a new striker in january and will hopefully sort out our home form. Were too good not to finnish forth.

Imo when all is said and done we'll be challenging for second. Weve had a blip but were through it. Chelsea will prob loose the same games we have and the same goes for utd. We've been really unlucky. The birmingham game etc and Utd have been sickly lucky. Winning against city and winning like 4games this season fro own :censored: goals. They've played :censored: this season and worse than us its just they've hade luck.

Are things really that simple? Then we have nothing to worry about then. :eyebrow

i see as a villa, even with a key player out i think the can still be a big danger, i think they have been unlucky not to make it into the top 4 over the last few years.

Man city will be am even bigger danger after the window opens, i am sure we will se new players going in.

the big fear is what the prem is going to look like next year, we might not ever talk about the top 4 again, it might be the top 6 for a very long time, lets hope we are in that.

well the man city job has gone and Spurs will not have him so the onlt club that he would get is Liverpool.
