Won't ever understand that.

You'd happily support Torres for Spain but spite Gerrard (and Johnson now) for England? Makes sense ??? Not

Fair enough you have no allegiance to England, so that should just mean you support ANY country that includes a Liverpool player.

Do the money men who run football want a rich big country with 50m people and world famous players or a small bankrupt country with no world stars.

The stitch up was obvious when they changed the rules at the last minute. If we won 2-1 tonight they'd probably have changed the away goal rule to a home goal rule.

They have organised the world cup to get America, Australia and other "growth potential" countries to get there.

STITCH UP

Gallas was offside too and Dunne was fowled - stitch up

It was supposed to be an open draw so we'd have a decent chance of getting greece, ukraine or another team which  aren't much good.

How can you change the rules at the end to ensure we get a big team?

You really think if that had happened at the other end we'd have got it? you think FIFA didn't care which team won?

Henry blatantly cheated and should be called out for it. Feel sorry for the Irish, but slightly annoyed about the hypocrisy that goes on in football.

Diving is cheating, handballing is cheating, but so is deliberately fouling someone, pulling someones shirt, blocking a player of in the box and the most dishonest thing claiming throw ins when you know its not yours.

All the above is a form of cheating, but people do not complain. I played football till I was chucked out at youth level and played county rugby before that. I can honestly say I have never deliberately cheated in any match I have played. Yet I dont understand why other forms of cheating

deliberate fouls
pulling shirts
claiming throw ins
faking injuries

are accepted.

Fifa are never going to give a European minnow a fair crack at the whip, so they'll invariably stick the big fish in with one to more or less garauntee the big guns are all in there. The silly w@nkers bit off more than they could chew and they never deserve to be there. Never! F*cking outragious. There were two French players offside when the ball was clipped in and no one is going to tell me that linesman, who was looking right across the line, couldn't see that. Then comes the first handball with Gallas thinking he could catch the ball falling, then Henry thinks he's playing basketball by blatantly keeping the ball in play with his hand, not once but twice. Seriously shocking, and easily one of the worst decisions I've ever seen since Roy Carol for Man U against Spurs that time the ball went behind the line about 3 yards and the goal wasn't given. F*cking disgrace. We're never going to win the WC, but the :censored: have deprived us of a good time all the same when it comes around next year, which is what its all about for us.

Well put Emerald Red

I have nothing else to add.

I honestly dont think i felt this bad even after we lost the CL Final to Milan in 2007.

Its just a horrible horrible way to go out. Id prefer if we lost 5-0 tonight and everyone was laughing at us. I was numb at the final whistle and didnt speak for about 30 mins. Henry has gone way down in my book after tonight and for me he will always be remembered for this.

I think I now know how England felt in 86

Im away to bed :(

Holy fecking hell I've just seen the replay and the word shambolic doesn't begin to do it justice.  The Irish were well and truly violated with that goal (several times over) and it's another in a long litany of bad decisions these days that makes you wonder about the integrity of the sport.  Absolutely pathetic.
