N'Gog has really come on of late.  I know Wolves do have some good attacking talent, but I think he would be a regular at most bottom third of the table clubs in the prem next season.  I think it was important for him to spend his first season with our first team though so that we can coach him in our way in the way we want him to develop.  And of course we couldn't even consider loaning him out unless we brought in some more experienced strikers.

The point I was trying to make with bav is not that Wolves are one team that might not use N'Gog, but I think you'll find he's about mid-lower table Championship regular material at the moment. He's not looking like scoring 10+ a season in our side let alone a weaker team. Harewood, experienced Premiership striker, was loaned to Wolves has made little impact (five apps, zero goals) Premiership strugglers aren't likely to want to take risks with a striker like N'Gog who has no real experience of scoring goals at any level. They could probably borrow better strikers from rival Premiership strugglers or Championship sides. They might even be better off bidding for Fryatt or Beckford from league one who may not have much/any Premiership experience, but are goalscorers and more worth a punt than a top Premiership side's occaisional cameo appearance sub with two goals this season.

N'Gog might get games at the bottom of the Premiership or top of the Championship, but if we seriously want him to be a 1st team regular then we have to be realistic where he is likely to be one of a club's best 2-4 strikers and he's only on our bench because we haven't got 3 strikers. I think you sometimes seriously overestimate our younger players. How many times have you forecast Nemeth and others like him to play or simply be in the 1st team squad and how many times have you been right?

other people have been much more adamant about playing people like Nemeth and Spearing than me, especially this season.  Also Gary Ablett has said that the plan for Nemeth was for him to be involved in some first team games after his 6 week loan spell. But he broke his cheekbone and hasn't found any form for the reserves since he has been cleared to play.  I also never forecast what the team will be, I give my opinion on what I might do or just offer up a viewpoint that I haven't seen posted.  And I probably would have included more youngsters in league cup or occasionally on the subs bench, just because they don't make it does not mean that I am "seriously overestimating our younger players."  I am just saying that in the past 2 months, everytime I have seen N'Gog he is either scoring or looking like a much improved player or both.

"Benítez, the Liverpool manager, had offered Hyypia a one-year extension to his deal, which expires at the end of the season, in addition to a prominent coaching role with the reserves, given that Gary Ablett is to leave the club."

Anyone know why Ablett is leaving? I was hoping the recent turmoil was over.

YAY!!! something to smile about!
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road
