Good point Sabre, it is because we are Liverpool supporters and we give our players the benefit of the doubt. It is what real supporters will do. As long as they are giving their best to the team, they are entitled to my support.

I think he has looked class from what i have seen so far, Great to see him go out wide, do a few players and still get a ball in, Who cares he he doesn't score that many as we have Torres,Gerrard,Keane and Babel for that.

He was solid today, showed some good touch and good passing.

He also has great vision as well!

Improved fitness will come, he needs to still fully adjust to the pace and exursion of the PL, hes going to be a solid player for us, nothing like a superstar but defo a future fans favourite, I would also like to see him on the left and Babel on the right....that would in theory be lovely :D

Not gonna get too excited with Riera as too many times(especially under beneitz era), players have deceived to deliver.

Riera looks to be classy...and is intelligent (ie...he knows when to put in high crosses or low crosses). I am just happy we got him instead of barry....who would have been a disaster as he isn't the type of left winger we need in this team.

Examples of players who started well but then turned out to be sh1t or average...

Josemi - Sh1t

Gonazales - Sh1t

Kuyt - No comments.......don't wanna start another flame war here

Luis Garcia -  average...but he started so well that when he left it was sort of an anti-climax as his last 2 seasons he was kinda of average.

Sissoko - Average

Morientes - Average. Didn't start well...but he scored 2 superb goals against boro when the match was headed for a draw...i thought he would go on a roll....but the rest is history.

Note...i didn't add alonso to the list because i am pretty sure alonso is not playing to his full potential due to beneitz. He plays attacking midfielder for spain...but he is playing a holding midfielder here.....Alonso ain't no holding midfielder.....

He have a great vision of the game and he only need more time for adpatation to the English style that is very different of the Spaniard league. I am sure he will be a great star and I would like to see him playing 90 minutes.

He looks good till now, though switched off in some parts of the game, but again his touch and passing were quality.

Has shown in the few times ive seen him (UTD and Everton) that he has the basics for a very good player on the left side.

Hes had a bit of a baptism of fire for his start with us and has come out looking good, its early so I wont judge but I think he will be a good signing for us.

And he will score about 5 goals all fairly important!  :eyebrow

While Kuyt remains favourite on the right, and Rafa usually favours bringing on a wide player around the 60-70 mins mark, then that isn't that likely

So alonso doesn't play as a attacking midfielder for spain ? He doesn't play closer to the opposition penalty box with spain than he does with LFC ?

If you have don't have anything worthwhile to add.... then pls don't post.

Ok.

If Xabi Alonso is an attacking midfielder then, Xavi Iniesta and Fabegras must be strikers then  :D Xabi ALonso either plays as a pure holding mid or as the companion of Senna. When he plays along Senna, he goes up more often, but always with another midfielder on front of him.

So you see, every one considers him a holding midfielder, he plays behind attacking midfielders, and thus, he doesn't play as an attacking midfielder.

Don't try to make a point about something you know nothing about.
