I agree.  I dont want the new stadium whilst these two pr.icks are in charge, guaranteed to be a compromise and we'll be left ruing it for years to come.

Please, please, please get the :censored: out of our club.

I wonder what Moores is upto these days?

I just read a summary of what he said on skysports, to me it looks like they both don't intend to sell their shares in the future.

I think we are stuck with them for a long time :(

Yeah I think so too metalhead. I know it sounds silly but in the short term scheme of things its probably a good thing that they sort out their differences and work together again as its obvious neither is willing to budge on selling each others shares. We need money in the next few weeks to be buying players and preparing for pre season so any notion of a buyout from someone like DIC would take months to go complete.

Im hoping that they give Rafa the players he wants so we can just get the season under way. As soon as the season starts they know we wont kick up much of a fuss as look what all that rift talk did last time.

They are here to stay and we cant do anything about it.

The thing about the fall out between Hicks and Gillett is a lot of it was blown out of proportion and they have always been on talking terms.

Gillett is right about them two getting along better and hopefully they can hopefully sit down and sort out a deal to sell the club.

So, with twiddle dee and twiddle dum set to stay, what's in store for our club now??

Financially, I can only see 2 outcomes...

1) We're gonna be like ManUre, forever in debt and in danger of going the Leeds way IF something happens and we fail to qualify for the champs league.
2) We spend only what we earn, forever buying fringe/squad/bosman players, no improvement in buying power since Moores was in charge and we pray hard that our half-stars bought fight well against the big stars of Man U, Chelski, Spurs, Arsenal, ManCity... and also pray hard we don't end up 6th in this pecking order of squad strength.

Outcome #1 seems the best for us if we wanted to challenge for the title. We can always borrow more and more money to buy top players. We can act ignorant of the giant debt and bask in the glory of winning, just like ManUre fans.

Now, on to marketing and fufilling Liverpool's full potential as the best supported club in the world. This I see as our lifeline if the Yanks remain in charge. A good marketing strategy can help overcome the shortfalls of the Yanks' small wealth compared to Abramovich. A lot has been said of the Yanks and their strength in marketing the club well. I have my doubts, opening a club megastore in Liverpool??
Those of you living in Liverpool, is the megastore making any money at all? How's the reception of that megastore?

As a non-british Liverpool supporter, I would really like too see more non-jersey non-football club themed clothes and stuff becoming more accessible to my part of the world. The last time I was at the club's anfield store, I went absolutely bonkers and bought almost all the different kinds of polo-tees with our club logo on it. I would like to buy summore now but I have no access to it and the club's online store doesn't sell some of the designs that are available in the store and online lacks the personal feel (literally) of touching the memorabilia.

Liverpool FC really needs to get out of its comfort zone in England and force a bigger presence around the world. I feel very ashamed and disappointed when I see Chelski, ManUre and even Arsenal heavily promoting their club and products here where I am in the East and Liverpool's presence non-existent.

Gillett - Time is a healer

Reds co-owners begin to build bridges

George Gillett has revealed that he and fellow Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks are attempting to rebuild their strained business relationship.

The American duo endured a much-publicised bust-up last season and Gillett, who is thought to be keen to sell his share in the Reds, went as far as to describe the partnership as 'unworkable'.

However, Gillett now insists that he and Hicks are attempting to build bridges in order to help Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez mount a realistic challenge for the Premier League next season.

"It's fair to say that communication between the Hicks and the Gilletts has been substantially improved and I believe that it will be for the benefit of the club," Gillett told Canadian radio station Fan590.

"Time is a healer and there were things that had happened previously. It took a while for both of us to realise that we weren't communicating very well and the huge responsibility we have to the fans to do the right thing for the club. I believe that the Hicks family are communicating better with us and we're communicating better with them and I think that will be much better for the club."

However, Gillett refused to give a direct answer when asked if he was still interested in selling his share, saying: "I'm not going to comment on anything specifically."

Gillett, though, expects improvements next season and has hinted that Benitez will be supported in the transfer market, where Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry is a top target.

"All of us are focused on the transfer window and we want to be ready for that," added Gillett. "We want to have adequate resources and good communication with Rafa and our hope is that we're making better progress. For a club that has a history of winning trophies, any season that you don't win one of the five or six trophies that we compete for, I suspect the fans, as well as the Hicks and Gilletts, are disappointed.

"We have to help Rafa try and be more competitive in the chase for the Premier League."

Hicks still has to re-finance so just because he and GG are talking again doesnt take away the credit squeeze.

When is that refinance deadline - thats the next target - if he cant refinance then he has to sell in advance.

Funnily enough Saint, I found out a couple of hours ago that letters have been issued from the club to all parking permit holders at Stanley Park that they will not be able to park there with effect from the 2008 - 2009 season due to construction beginning on the new stadium in August.

Park and Ride facilities are already in place at Sandhills and have been extended to Pall Mall in the city centre to help cope with the 900+ cars that have to be deflected from the current Stanley Park parking site.

Other car parks in the Anfield area have already been booked for the coming season for Anfield employees etc.

I'm sure I will get 'source?' thrown at me - i'd rather not reveal, but I will say I certainly can't be ar$ed or am sad enough to make something up just to get a reaction on a forum!

At least they are talking in the transfer window, so now maybe we can get some extra targets and then they can discuss the selling.
