Moores and Parry employed professional advisers to value the club and find buyers. They apparantly valued it at about a third of what it is worth 12 months later? ???

Not just a case of what did M&P get us into but how could the advisers be so incompetent undervaluing the club - but also in vetting and approving G&H?

The whole process has been a disaster and instead of DIC taking control of the club at a reasonable price they're going to have to pay top dollar with the knock on effect of how that will impact the investment funds put into the club.

Article from the Daily Telegraph site.
Rafael Benitez: League is not vital for Liverpool
By Richard Bright

The dust may have only just settled on the Premier League season, but Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is already busy playing down his side's chances of winning it next year and fighting off speculation over the future of his best player.

Benitez feels the League is harder to win now than when he joined Liverpool in 2004, and knows that his task will be much harder if reports last night that linked Fernando Torres with a move to Chelsea, turn out to be than speculation. Chelsea were last night reported to have made Torres their main transfer target and are prepared to offer up to £50 million.

"There is a desire among certain people at Liverpool to sell at a right price," said a Chelsea insider. "It is just a case of whether they have the nerve to incur the wrath of the Liverpool fans."

The relationship between American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett has left Benitez convinced the club are unable to match the spending power of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal in the transfer market.

"It's more difficult because after two years of Chelsea winning the league and spending big money, United needed to do the same," Benitez said. "They started spending big money and Arsenal were also spending big money. We will try to do our best and the key for me is to not talk about the title."

Benitez has warned that teams below Liverpool are spending big money in a bid to qualify for the Champions League. "You see Aston Villa, Newcastle, West Ham and Everton spending money and having strong teams. It's not easy to be in the top four and be contenders, but because we have a young squad we can try again."

I will personally kill G & H if they sell Torres pair of kunts.

well, at this stage, i'd say even if the powers that be accepted a £50million offer for torres, I think a quiet word from Rafa in nando's ear saying we want him to stay and its only the board that want the money, and Nando will reject whatever chelsea throw at him anyway. I loves this club and the fans, and I doubt very much he'd move at the moment

Disruption reigns at Anfield, with the ownership of the club as well as the future of manager Rafa Benitez and chief executive Rick Parry uncertain.

Tom Hicks says he is desperate to raise funds to take sole control and the sale of Torres only a year after he arrived from Atletico Madrid for £23m could be good business.

Benitez: will raise strong objections if owner Tom Hicks decides to cash in on Torres

Benitez will not think so and agreeing to sell could add more tension. The Liverpool manager claims a lack of resources means his side will again be fighting against the tide for the title next term.

But his objections regarding the sale of Torres may not hold sway and it would represent good business for Chelsea as well as Hicks because striker Didier Drogba is up for sale.

Tom Hicks And His Corinthians Past
May 23, 2008

It seems Tom Hicks leaves a trail of devastation wherever goes. His disastrous foray into the Brazilian football market as chairman of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst left Corinthians, the second most popular club in Brazil, in a state of turmoil.

The parallels between what happened to Corinthians and what is currently happening at Liverpool are unsettling to say the least:

Unable to resist the temptation to make a quick buck, HICKS BEGAN SELLING TRANSFER RIGHTS TO THE CLUB’S STAR PLAYERS.  Then started selling off their best players.

Dont put nothing past this b@stard.

Usually you'd simply shrug it off as the same old off-season transfer bollox but you ACTUALLY wouldn't put it past the fat p.r..ick to try and do it if he thought he could get away with it.

I think theve got a :censored: cheek tbh even mentioning his name.

The snidey bas.tards might wanna make some money to pay there debts but can you honestly see Torres agreeing to go.
He has the last word.

If it did come true wed loose Gerrard,Riena and Raffa without a doubt. The Toxteth riots would be nothing compared to what youd see if this happend .

I really think its just :censored: stirring by the paper but i wouldnt trust these two so until there gone anyone from our team could be sold.

I hope this article though makes fans who dont really bother about the pair of gobs.hites actualy take notice now that until these two are gone this could happen.

Seriously what would people do if it was true (i don't think it is) .Would you then protest? Would you then want Hicks and Gillett out? or would you still think that the yanks have the best interests of the club at heart . I'm asking this seriously ,to see what it would take for people to sit up and realise what are owners are up to and where there interests lie.
