are you being serious? Don't want to offend you Dawson but how old are you? Just because Hick's PR machine is going into overdrive it doesn't mean it's the truth. Don't believe everything you read- yeah he's trying to sweeten us up but if you think he's pulling his fat wallet out of his even fatter trousers then you're falling for his lies.

If he could afford the club he would have bought it outright by now- he's going to squeeze us of every penny he can then fu.ck off back to his ranch to munch on hotdogs paid for with our money! Don't believe this guy- he's lied to us from day 1 and is now using Rafa to get us on side. Have you heard Rafa come out and support him yet? No! Rafa has to keep his head down at the moment and be used as a pawn in Hick's game.

Hick's will rip us off one way or another- i'd just rather it be sooner so we can recover from it!

By giving PR interviews to Sky in his Texas home that has feck all to do with LFC, telling Sky to tell Rick Parry he should resign. Is that sorting things out Daws ???

Right daws, hicks has shat his pants ,because he's been made to look the bad guy by gillett , people think that gillett wants to sell to dic but hicks doesn't. They are both going to sell daws , it's all posturing to get a better deal out of dic. Gillett and Hicks are both trying to get out of this mess without looking like the tw@ts they are ,to the rest of the business world. Some thing like ."well we tried are best for the club ,but them darn scousers were not interested " It's all pr daws ,from all sides and we the fans ,along with rafa are stuck in the middle with our head up our @rses mate. Best thing you can do mate in all honesty is carry on the way your going ,otherwise you will seriously get your head fecked by this sorry mess.

i know where you're coming from dawson, mate. there's so much propoganda and counter propoganda, stories in the press and the forums saying hicks is the bad guy, then gillet is the bad guy, then rafa is the bad guy, then hicks is trying to sort it out, then.... etc etc etc. at times you just want to grab onto something vaguely positive and hang on to it until the whole sorry mess is sorted out.

but you have to keep focussed mate, use the force and repeat to yourself "americans are bad, americans are bad" 50 times each hour. the probable truth is that they are doing nothing but harm to the club at the moment, parry got it badly wrong again, and that we'll be much better of with DIC. until they sell us on to the americans again for a profit in 5 years time.

Nope I disagree, Parry and Moores are incompetent bumbling idiots. Gillet is a mug and Hicks is a complete and utter tit. I agree that DIC are the saviours though, or at least I hope they'll be, one thing is for certain they will end up buying the club.

Gillett is no mug and he's been playing this quite cleverly.

i agree- i also don't think he's 'as' bad as Hicks. He certainly isn't perfect but at least he seems to have a conscience and is trying to do the right thing (and make money at the same time).

Is he though? Gillett has been playing his little game as well. Remember, it was he who brought Hicks to the party in the first place, it was both he and Hicks who have procrastinated over the stadium (promising the world but delivering nothing), it was also he who dragged his feet on transfer dealings, and it was he who got the Klinsman thing up and running. Gillett has not denied Hicks' accusations over Klinsmann, namely that Gillett is a mate of Klinsmann, that Gillett rang Hicks up and told him that they needed to talk to Klinsmann, he set the meeting up and met with Klinsmann privately for a couple of hours before Parry and Hicks turned up and he has said little in support of Rafa.

Remember also that Gillett has not actually agreed a sum with DIC and Gillett is playing the Liverpool fans by making Hicks out to be the ogre and making public gestures such as inviting DIC to Tuesday's game.

I do believe that Gillett's motives are simpler than Hicks': he wants out of Liverpool but only at a good price and I believe he is prepared to play the waiting game to get as much money as he wants and also to get one over on Hicks.

I do think Hicks actually has a long term interest in Liverpool but they are purely selfish. I personally think that he wants to get full control of the club, improve it commercially and then sell it in a few years for a handsome profit. This may or may not be compatible with funding a new stadium and taking the team to a new level on the pitch. Hicks aint stupid: he knows that Liverpool FC has outstanding commercial potential and under Rick Parry's half baked incompetent reign the club has been massively underperforming commercially. I think Hicks may improve the club commercially if he got overall control but I'm convinced he doesn't care whos toes he threads on to do this and I could see him hiring and firing like there's no tomorrow, upsetting the staff, players and coaches, alienating the fans, paying lip service to player investment, saddling the club with debt and fudging the stadium issue.

I think people need to stop ganging up on Dawson. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, and especially in this situation it is VERY difficult to determine the true facts and who exactly is at fault for everything and where everyone's motives lie.  I think some of the anti-americans on this forum need to stop being so dogmatic in their beliefs and start judging each action on its own merits. Rafa has said straight from his mouth this week that he has had talks and that they have been positive.  I am sure all the players invovled know 500 times more about the situation and its intricate details than anyone on this forum AND even they probably aren't sure of how exactly we got here, and what the next turn of events are going to be.

Joe i dont think were Anti American mate were just Anti them .and they happen to be American. If they were Spanish or Italians we woild still fell the same mate.

Regarding the bit with Raffa i thought that was a brilliant piece of PR on hes part hes said hed had positive dissgussions but he also mentioned that Gillette and Parry were knowlegable about them. Throwing there names in the mix is his way of saying Im not taking sides with anyone.

Raffa is playing games with all of them to get what he thinks is best for him and the team

Some of us have actually done some background work on this joe, some people are not just led by what's being said in the papers. If you cared to look ,all the information you need is on the internet . From hicks ownership of the stars and rangers ,to his ownership of corinthians in brazil. From gilletts and hicks promises to there lies. Dawson is not being picked on , ffs the lad is a good lad ,me and others are just trying to give him information that he patently doesn't have.

Now i'm glad you've brought up this anti-american lie. This is not anti-american , it's anti hicks and gillett , it just so happens that they are your countymen much to your shame i'm sure.

By the way ,spot on with your post JBG.

Interesting

By Roger Blitz, Leisure Industries Correspondent - Financial Times

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, is playing an active role in negotiations over Liverpool Football Club, underlining the prospect of a Premier League club being wholly owned and guaranteed for the first time by a sovereign state.

Dubai’s attempt to buy Liverpool has for months been channelled through Dubai International Capital, Sheikh Mohammed’s investment arm.

Sameer al-Ansari, DIC’s chief executive and a longstanding Liverpool fan, was regarded as the prime mover of the attempt to prise the club from its warring US owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

However, people close to the situation say the Liverpool takeover bid has become one in which Sheikh Mohammed has taken a close personal interest. He receives personal regular updates on developments by PCP Capital Partners, Dubai’s UK-based advisers, which co-invests with Dubai and its investment vehicles.

In spite of Mr Hicks’s determination to block Dubai, Mr Gillett is equally adamant he will not sell his half share to his estranged business partner. But the club’s future may become clearer tomorrow night if the team fails to win the second leg of its Champions League semi-final at Chelsea.
Though his sport of choice is horseracing, Sheikh Mohammed is a Liverpool supporter dating back to the early 1980s. Hamdan bin Mohammed, his 25-year-old son, who in February was named crown prince, is a fanatical supporter.

Should the club be sold, Liverpool would end up being owned by a vehicle of the Dubai government – partly via PCP – rather than DIC.

The upshot would be that Liverpool, in the hands of a sovereign state, would not be bound by the level of returns DIC, as a private equity business, would require.

It would also suggest Dubai would hang on to the club for an indefinite period whereas DIC would have been expected to sell the club when it felt it had made a sufficient return from its investment.
