Link 1 was Arsene Wenger

Link 2 was more interesting. Rafa. Good to see the players getting on with things. This is what rafa is up against. He has to keep the players focussed on the matches, and as supporters so must we. Whatever we say or do, we have more influence on the team then we do the men with money and no wits.

Link 1 - takes you to all the interviews of the day, including Rafa.

Yeah, but arsene is boring and it is he who I saw first !

Sky's the limit as Hicks goes public
22:02pm 13th April 2008

Liverpool's loose cannon owner Tom Hicks, who has already destabilised the club in his American civil war with partner George Gillett, is planning more public squabbling this week.

Despite Liverpool president David Moores and chief executive Rick Parry's joint plea to keep their internal quarrels for the boardroom rather than washing their dirty linen in public, Hicks has already arranged an in-depth interview with Sky Sports News.

The Texan sees the TV opportunity as his chance to spread further poison about Parry, who he has already called 'arrogant, rude and insensitive' in his letter calling for the chief executive's resignation, which has further alienated Liverpool fans against Hicks.

The TV interview was due to take place yesterday, which would have deflected attention from Liverpool's victory against Blackburn, but Hicks was advised to put back his full-frontal assault until after tomorrow (April 15), which is the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.

Mudslinging on a grand scale wasn't considered appropriate so close to such a date.

Hicks now plans to speak to Sky on Wednesday, which is seen as just as thoughtless, being even closer to the Hillsborough date.
Meanwhile, fans will be perplexed by Hicks's weekend comments that Liverpool will be debtfree under his command by 2011. Only the old guard of Parry and David Moores prevented the two Americans from lumping all the debt from the new stadium on to Liverpool's bank balance.

if it were possible to ignore the fact that it was being done publicly and possibly for alt. reasons, wouldn't people be happy to hear that Parry was going to be on his way out?  On the conduct side of things Gillett seems to outclass Hicks, but if GG is pro Parry and pro Klinnsman and Hicks is pro rafa, then I would be forced to change sides and say that hicks is the lesser of the two evils, and that people just need to stop freaking out about what they read in the papers, doesn't seem to be affecting the play much ( and i seriously doubt that it ever was).  I just want Rafa back next season, so whatever ownership outcome is neccessary for that is what I am rooting for.

No offence Joe but it is being played out in public all over Europe and not in America.

Read my post where he is going to sling more mud on Sky on wednesday a day after the Hillsborough anniversary the man has no clue how much our emotions run high this week.

It Hicks NOT Gillet who has remained in contact with Klinsmann. Its Hicks that has supposedly been divulging details of Rafa's future transfer plans. Hardly a great way of showing support for Rafa is it ..... going asking a rival manager what he thinks of Rafa's transfer plans?

Parry going is not, and should not be the issue UNTIL Hicks and Gillet have been forced out of the club. Once they are gone I think Parry will be close behind them.

Spot on S@int, people that are calling for Parry's head (and there are more than I thought there would be) are completely missing the bigger picture here.
Parry goes in the current climate THicks' grip on the club is strengthened, Parry stays for now then THicks can't do  a damn thing and will be backed into a corner.

THicks is proving himself to be one almighty hipocrite in this latest unsavoury episode, it's been designed to try and weaken Parry's position and further more drag Rafa into the middle of it, unfortunately it sounds like Rafa has bitten and now the shit is hitting the fan once again.

From the Times

Rafael BenÍtez weighed into the bitter war of words at Liverpool last night by demanding immediate talks with the Anfield board as the turmoil that has engulfed the club spiralled out of control. BenÍtez reacted furiously to claims by Tom Hicks, the club’s American co-owner, that Rick Parry was at the infamous meeting with Jürgen Klinsmann in November last year, when the former Germany coach was approached about taking over as Liverpool manager.

Although BenÍtez was aware that Hicks and George Gillett Jr, his estranged partner, attended the discussions in California, the news that the club’s chief executive was present has come as a nasty shock to the Liverpool manager. BenÍtez has not seen eye to eye with Parry for a long time and the latest revelations will only damage their relationship further and increase the pressure on the chief executive, who has so far withstood Hicks’s demands that he resign.

Hicks announced yesterday that he will “formally request” Gillett’s approval to terminate Parry’s contract after branding the chief executive, whom he has wanted out for four months, as “arrogant” and with an “inability to manage an organisation”. Hicks believes that Ian Ayre, the Liverpool commercial director, would make a far more suitable chief executive.

Although Parry received the full public backing of Gillett and the majority of the Liverpool board last week, whatever support he had from BenÍtez has probably evaporated. “It was not the first time I had heard about the meeting, but [about] the people that were in the meeting,” BenÍtez said after Liverpool’s 3-1 victory at home to Blackburn Rovers in the Barclays Premier League yesterday.

“I was surprised with the people that were in the meeting. That is the reason why I will talk with the board as soon as possible. I will try to clarify the situation with the board or the people that must clarify the situation.

“I will not talk about any owner. I want to talk with them and, if I can, all of them at the same time because they were all in the meeting together. I want to know something more. I will ask some questions and I will talk about this with them.”

Asked whether he believed that the revelations undermined his position, BenÍtez said: “That is the reason I want to clarify the situation.” Hicks had been irked by Parry’s claims that the Texan’s call for his resignation was “offensive” and responded by leaking reports of the meeting with Klinsmann.

“I didn’t hear Rick Parry say it was offensive when George gave his radio interview telling the world our relationship had become unbearable,” Hicks said. “When the Klinsmann story broke, I didn’t hear Rick Parry or George Gillett say that they were the ones that set up the meeting.

“Rick, George and Foster Gillett [the son of the owner and a member of the board] participated with my son, Tom Jr, and me in the meeting. Rick allowed all of the controversy to build without taking any responsibility.”

Hicks was alleged yesterday to be using Klinsmann as an adviser, but those claims were dismissed as “absolute rubbish” by the American’s camp and also denied by sources close to the former Germany coach, who takes charge of Bayern Munich on July 1. “Rafael BenÍtez retains the full support of Tom Hicks,” a spokesman for Hicks said.

Hicks terminated talks with Dubai International Capital on March 11, but while the private equity investment arm of the Arab state remains confident of winning control at Anfield, the Texan outlined his vision for the future of the club yesterday.

“It is time for Liverpool to have one strong owner that can give Rafa the support he needs to win trophies, oversee an outstanding management team to grow our commercial revenues and brand worldwide and can build the best football stadium in the world,” Hicks said. “I truly believe I can be that owner.”

Parry said: “I stand by my track record in English football and as chief executive of Liverpool Football Club. It would be inappropriate of me to comment in detail on these allegations that should be a matter for the Liverpool board. In fact, I would welcome an opportunity to discuss these matters with our co-owners and board colleagues. This continuous airing of issues in the media is clearly not helpful at this crucial stage of our season.”

I've only been out for the day but it looks like WW111 has sparked off whilst I was away.

Whats the key issue now with rafa, the transfer names going via Klinsman?

I'm WAY more concerned about Rafa walking than losing Parry (Barry to his mates), Moores or anyone else quite frankly. If Rafa goes, as others have said, it puts us back 5 years and we'd lose half the squad within 12 months. Not even worth contemplating.

Irish horse racing magnates John Magnier and JP McManus - formerly Manchester United's major shareholders - are considering buying into Liverpool and are keen to play a role in the future of the club. (Sunday Express)

Could this get any worse?

Why is everyone freaking out about this, it's just another episode in the soap opera, Rafa won't walk because he knows that DIC will soon takeover and there is a chance they won't sack him.

Hicks is clearly bad news because he is making Liverpool into a media circus and is trying to mainuplate everything it's an absolute disgrace! :veryangry

BTW I do not believe all this doom and gloom if Rafa leaves, as you know I want him to leave, but not at this exact moment.

I bet people thought that when Ranieri left Chelsea they would take years to bounce back! :wwww

ok looks like i mixed up the klinnsman thing, but it does seem that gillett was the the one who originally set that up, but it was Hicks who first revealed it to the public.

Yes, I do realize that you cannot take the situation out of context and that in the context it looks REALLY REALLY bad, I am just saying that if you could isolate the idea, and make it private, and take away the possible alt. motives (which I know you can't) then most people on here would be happy to see Rick Parry leave the club.

If it was MY millions of pounds that someone else was spending, and I knew FECK All about footy, I would want to bring in someone else's opinion on my manager's targets too.  Not saying that it was good that any of that information made the papers, but the move by itself wasn't dumb.
