Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I fear he believes his own spin now.

He's claiming to be the strong majority shareholder the club needs?

Kiss my Curleywurley, I'd rather have Cap'n Mainwaring.

If we have overseas owners they have to be sleeping partners leaving the running of the business to the local management team.

How can this fella know, understand and decide what is best for the business and convince a totally anti fanbase, when he is in Dallas? Its totally unrealistic.

I hope he chokes on his sunday roast tomorrow.

Heard today that Gilette actually could be planning to buy out Hicks, which would be interesting. Wouldnt want either of them owning us but if it had to be one of them id go for Gillette.

Looks like you where right Bob  :no  What a low life scumbag I am lost for words this man cannot stoop any lower.

I think the supporters will quickly move back on to the players when we play Blackburn. In addition, of course, I realise Tuesday being Hillsborough Memorial Day is a very emotional day in Liverpool history and should have its own special reverence from everyone at the club.”

RAFA BENITEZ will challenge Tom Hicks on claims the American still uses Jurgen Klinsmann as an advisor.

The NOTW understands Klinsmann's representatives contacted Liverpool officials to warn them that Benitez's early transfer plans had been passed to their man.

The club were stunned to discover Klinsmann's view was sought on the quality of at least one target they are in the process of scouting.

The revelation will antagonise boss Benitez, who has sent private e-mails to co-owner Hicks outlining the players he wants to recruit for a title assault next season.
Knowledge

He will want an investigation into how Klinsmann could know the identity of his targets.

Klinsmann, who was interviewed for the Kop hotseat last November, has since been named the next Bayern Munich manager.

There would be nothing to stop him sending the German club's scouts to watch the same players and bidding higher.

A source close to Hicks insists ‘to their knowledge' there has been no contact between the co-owner and Klinsmann for months. If so, that will leave Benitez baffled as to how Klinsmann knew the contents of his e-mails.

The latest claims end a turbulent week when Euro success was overshadowed by Hicks' explosive letter calling for chief executive Rick Parry's resignation.

All parties agree Benitez had no idea about the document.
Refused

He refused to take questions on the latest controversy ahead of today's visit of Blackburn.

Benitez's love affair with The Kop has intensified following Tuesday's win over Arsenal and his supporters are eager for him to distance himself from the sentiments of the Hicks letter.

The majority of the board, fans and players stand firmly behind Parry and George Gillett in the dispute.

Now before people just dismiss the source of the story, this, no matter who reported it THIS is exactly the type of thing I would expect that tw@t to do, I am convinced he is like a spoilt child that doesn't want anyone else to play with his toys, and he determined to ruin our club, we need to get them out NOW !

I  cant figure this out, why is Hicks telling Klinnsman about our targets? It doesnt make sense unless he is seeking his advice on them players e.g are they good? are they worth ex amount?

What a feckin balloon head.

I was thinking the same thing, what does that say for his trust in Raffas ability to buy the right players though ? Surely if Raffa says he wants a player then their only involvement should be to make sure he has the money available to go and get him. Who else seeks the advice of a novice manager as to wether that player would be a suitable buy for Liverpool, fair enough if the player is someone who Klinsmann has worked with and Klinsmann was no longer in Management but apart from that it is insulting to seek the advice of him over Raffa ???

Hicks Leaked Info To Klinsmann, Rafa Furious
Rafa Benitez will reportedly confront Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks after it came to light that the American has maintained contact with Jurgen Klinsmann

It is believed that Klinsmann’s representatives contacted Liverpool in order to warn them that the ex-Germany striker had got wind of Benitez’s transfer schemes.

The Merseyside club were shocked when they discovered that someone had supposedly sought Klinsmann’s opinion regarding at least one possible target they had been tracking.

This information will surely infuriate Rafa Benitez, who has been alerting Hicks via private emails of his transfer plans as Liverpool prepare to launch into the summer market, and he will want an explanation as to why the former Tottenham star had been contacted at all.

Repercussions

Klinsmann was interviewed in November as a candidate to succeed Benitez, who was in the midst of a public dispute with Hicks and his policies at the time.

Now Klinsmann is in line to take the reigns from Ottmar Hitzfeld next season at Bayern Munich, and information of this sort being leaked to one of Liverpool’s stronger competitors in the transfer market could be very damaging to the Reds’ hopes of securing their preferred targets this summer.

Control

It has been a turbulent week at Anfield, after Hicks asked Liverpool CEO Rick Parry to resign, sending shockwaves through Merseyside amid the celebrations of Tuesday’s thrilling Champions League victory over Arsenal.

This is just the latest development in Hicks’ attempt to secure sole executive control of the club, following his falling out with co-owner George Gillett and his deflections of Dubai Investment Capital’s efforts to mount a takeover bid.

Rafa Refusal, Revival

Benitez refused to comment on the matter ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Blackburn Rovers at Anfield today.

Despite a substandard patch of league form that sees his side occupying fourth spot in the table, Benitez has won over many sceptical fans in recent months due to Liverpool’s continued dominance in Europe, as they prepare to face Chelsea in the Champions League semi-finals in two weeks’ time.

Many of Rafa’s supporters are adamant that he should distance himself from Hicks’ regime, as most Liverpool fans seem to prefer the prospect of Gillett selling his majority stake in the club to DIC.

Who knows but with the games and spin coming out of the club how can you differentiate between fact and fiction these days?

Most likely - and lets be honest - its a jorno working in collusion with Moores and Coco trying to suck Rafa into the fight.

What do you read into the following from teh Independant, maybe the yanks have reason to sack Coco  AND Moores, if they refinanced basis the Americn company and not the club against instructions then that is a major act of sabotage for which they would/could/should be sacked??

''......... with Parry admitting he has felt like he is on borrowed time ever since insisting a refinancing deal was secured against the Americans' holding company and not the club.

"David (former chairman David Moores) and I thought we would be out on our ears in December," Parry told the Independent. "We thought they might fire us. They didn't, to be fair, though what we did has not been forgotten.''

REPEAT : though what we did has not been forgotten. - So he clearly knows that what he and Moores dd was wrong (but for the good of the club) BUT ALSO becuase it was the terms of the sale agreement that no debt would come onto our books - BUT THEN the yanks countered saying LFC would have to pay 30 million a year to service the debt didnt they?? It all falls into place now.

Hicks is also alleging that Parry was fully supportive of their proposal to approach Klinsman behind Rafa's back  . Thats something I was unaware of and if true Parry can f'uck off right now ! . Never been impressed with the fella but always thought he was a fairly straight forward sort, until today !
