Now let us not loose focus and start comparing Benitez and Parry. TBH, Parry has underperfomed as a chief executive, and it was him who put the spanner in the works for the DIC deal in the first instance.  The only symphathy he will get from me, he is a liverpool fan, and being fired from a job wont stop him from being one. Let us not drag Benitez into this fiasco, he has just given us a fantastic week by outclassing the much vaunted Wenger.

Couldn't believe this when I got home last night and turned on Sky Sports news.

In a week where we qualify for another European semi final in another cracking game we get this pile of b#llocks. The timing is a complete joke.

The way we are being run at present is way, way beyond a joke, it is a f#cking disgrace.

SSN:

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has vowed to continue in his job, despite being asked to resign by co-owner Tom Hicks.

Hicks has written a letter to Parry calling for him to step down from his position as the boardroom battle at Anfield took another twist on Thursday.

Hicks is understood to be unhappy at the commercial performance of the club under Parry's stewardship and the American tycoon also claims that Rafa Benitez believes a lack of communication from Parry has allowed big-name signings to slip through the net.

Parry, who has been at Liverpool for ten years, is unhappy at how the news has come into the public light and he insists he will carry on with his job.

"Well I have not seen the letter. You guys seem to know a lot more about the letter than I do, which says something," Parry told Sky Sports News.

"My family saw it on Sky Sports, so they were delighted.

Dirty linen

"This week I shouldn't be the story, the story should be the team. It is offensive to the manager, players and fans in a week when we had another great European triumph there is more dirty linen being washed.

"No individual, certainly not me, is bigger than the club. The club will be fine but once again it shows there is a little bit of a lack of unity at the top.

"I am just getting on with the job, there is work to do."

I think we should launch a save Rick campaign, at least until the cancer has been cut out from the club, then the powers that be (whoever they may be by then) can look at Parry's situation again.

Parry has been shrewd. He is obviously aware that the fans hatred lies much more with Hicks that Gillett and has sided with the lesser of two evils. Obviously this has wound up Hicks something chronic and especially so since Parry is not going to resign lightly.

Barry has brought this situation upon himself, he the one was responsible for bring in those two American profiteering sharks, instead of completing the initial deal with DIC at the time when J. Moors was selling LFC ownership.

I am wear that Barry had made some bad mistakes, but somehow he deserve the fans support for now, in order to get the club out of Hick's claws for ever. The timing of this new saga is wrong, and the LFC ownership must be sorted out just as the season ends, and the Liverpool supporters Club are really should pursuit with their new scheme of obtaining the club ownership through the supporters shares ownership, or put a huge pressure on Yankee sharks to force them to sell their ownership shares to new owners who is prepared to care about LFC interest.

I'm no fan of the guy but Parry simply has to stay in the short term because Hicks is simply using the age old tactics of " divide and conquer ".Anybody who thinks any different I think is being naive imo.

In the long term, post Hicks, without doubt the whole commercial management structure requires serious attention. This will then enable us to catch up and compete with the Utd and Chelsea in terms of stadia, player acquisition and marketing.

It is tragic that despite having the best History, club and supporters we simply have failed over the years to capitalise on the massive commercial opportunities that the likes of Utd and Real Madrid have exploited to the full. As a result we have been at a massive disadvantage in terms of the financial benefits marketing can provide.

So he must stay, it was a big mistake selling to the Yanks and he knows that now, but if he resigned I think this would prove to be even bigger mistake and prove to be even more detrimental.

u reap what u sow.  Parry and Moores chose the Yanks instead of DIC. They brought this on themselves and I have no sympathy for any of them.

I agree with StMick, I can't stand the bloke, but he needs to sort out the mess he started in the first place, he at least owes us that. Hicks is trying everything in the book to unstablise the club and once he has done, he will pounce. Parry needs to stand his ground over this, try and get the DIC deal done and dusted and then he can f*ck off.

Rick Parry hits back in Anfield power struggle  -  The Times

Rick Parry, the Liverpool chief executive, is refusing to back down in the civil war that is engulfing Anfield, claiming that Tom Hicks' request for him to resign was 'offensive'.

Hicks wrote to Parry yesterday formally requesting his resignation from the board, citing failures in the club’s commercial strategy and problems in his relationship with Rafael Benitez, the manager. However, Parry has rebuffed Hicks' request and has increased tensions at the club by insisting that not only had he not seen the letter, but that he remains focused on 'getting on with the job'. In the wake of the rift, Liverpool have cancelled a press conference which had been due to take place this afternoon to preview Sunday's Premier League match with Blackburn Rovers.

"I've not seen the letter," Parry said. "You guys know a lot more about the letter than I do. This week, I shouldn't be the story, the story should be the team. It's offensive to the players, the manager, the fans, in the week when we had another great European triumph there's more dirty linen being washed [in public]."

Parry, who has been chief executive at Liverpool for a decade, oversaw the takeover of the club by Hicks and George Gillett, his co-owner, last year. But since then the relationship between the pair has broken down and the future ownership of the club remains the subject of continual speculation.

Parry added: "No individual, certainly not me, is bigger than the club. The club will be fine but once again it shows there's a little bit of a lack of unity at the top. I'm just getting on the with the job."

In the latest twist, Gillett has publicly backed Parry in clear defiance of his co-owners wishes. He said: "Rick Parry retains our full support. Any decision to remove him would need the approval of the full Liverpool board which, it should be remembered, consists of six people - myself, Foster [Gillett's son], David Moores, Rick himself, Tom Hicks and Tom junior. We have not seen the document in question and we were not party to it. We are not able to comment on the detail because we have not seen it. But I would reiterate that Rick retains our full support."

Hicks' letter reportedly ran to three pages and is thought to have been prompted by a recent interview in which the chief executive urged the American owners to end their long-running dispute. The Texan is currently thought to be attempting to raise the finances to buy out his co-owner. However, doubts have been raised about Hicks' ability to raise the funds needed, with Gillett indicating that he would refuse to sell him his 50 per cent stake.

Dubai International Capital (DIC), the Arab investment group, remains committed to buying out the co-owners, even though Sameer al-Ansari, the company’s chief executive, suggested yesterday that he had decided to 'pull out completely' because of the problems in breaking the stalemate that exists between Hicks and Gillett.
