Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby flombs » Tue Mar 11, 2008 1:18 pm

Dont despair just yet guys. This has been taken from another forum and was written by dmjn100.

Well -

Yet another unexpected day of twists & turns.

So Hicks has ended' his negotiations with DIC after 3 of his senior wigs (including his son) met with DIC officials Monday morning in Dubai.

Talks are said to have lasted all of 40 minutes!

The Hicks camp are put out that DIC want things that involve LFC matters "to be managed by committee".

When DIC came out with that demand, that was the end of negotiations.

Again - all is not lost for the Liverpool fans & this is far from over.

Amanda Staveley has leaked' to AP that DIC's next route, far from giving up, is to now drop the offer of power share & go after both Tom Hicks & more so George Gillett "aggressively".

It is believed a formal offer for Gillett's entire share of Liverpool will be made 'within hours', if it hasnt already been done & is now on record.

This will give Tom Hicks 90 days to find the money to buy out his partner & assume over all control of Liverpool.

Now as I said before, Hicks was advised by JP Morgan a week ago that in trying to raise the money needed to buy out his partner he would put all his other assets at "serious risk".

Something he will NOT do.

There are too many reasons to explain in full why he wont do it - but trust me he wont.

Just a few of those reasons are the loan & debt, the building of the new stadium, players, cost of running the club & unforeseen expenses, which would amount to money Hicks just does not have.

So the only remaining option for him is to find a backer with unlimited resources who can out bid DIC.

Again I need not explain to you all - that is something that would prove extraordinarily difficult - if not impossible.

So the 90 days it is.

When that time arrives and Hicks cannot match DIC's bid, DIC would assume control of all of Gillett's shares - making them equal partners with Tom Hicks.

The day DIC get hold of 50% of the club, that is the day Tom Hick's can start thinking about different buisness ventures.

Again, too much to go into now, but alot of Hick's worry is the new stadium & the building plans.

He has already given out the contracts to his buisness people in the States & should DIC have an equal say in how things are done at Liverpool - they can cause him major headaches & stop those plans in there tracks.

That is something he cannot afford to let happen.

Someone I work with asked me about an hour ago - is this really the end of the DIC interest & I told him no - not at all.

All this latest twist means is it is going to get very messy, but with DIC being the aggressors - there will be only one winner.

Well two.

DIC & the fans.

I especially like the part how DIC are going after both Mrs Hicks and Gillette aggressively.

Again from dmjn100...

one more thing, that is EXCLUSIVE only to this forum at the moment:

Sources have suggested to me in the last 24 hours that Hicks 'recently' approached ex Liverpool suitor Robert Kraft to see if he would consider buying Gilletts shares out right.

However I was told that the idea was seen as fantasy by the Kraft Group & was rebuked.

yea we yanks love getting into wars without really being provoked too hard like WWI and the European Theatre of WWII.  :D

what you mean they love getting into wars. of late they do initiate them, but in WW1 and WW2 they turned up late

oh god we aren't getting into the whole England won both world wars on their own :censored: are we, if it wasn't for the yanks there never would have been a D-day and subsequent victory, and in the first world war it was pretty much stalemate until America joined the war so I'd say we owe them a pretty fecking big favour, but Iraq has probably cancelled that out!!
Anyway lets get back to talking about that asswipe Hicks.
Personally I think he knows he is in a tight spot and he will probably end up having to sell quite soon, his current situation is untenable in the long run.

What a ruin another season?!!

The time to do it is now! We need to hit him in the pocket now so he sells up and we can start afresh next season.
I also don't think abandoning games will happen as they'll be a million overseas fans clubs, fans down south etc that'll buy up the tickets if available. What we need is a serious figurehead- an ex player/manager or even Moores to get a serious movement going fo rwhich people will follow. What we can do is picket the club shop and food stands which'll have an instant visibility on the balance sheet- if he sees this and we let him know it will grow to us abandoning games then it'd be in his interst to take the money now before DIC start to reduce their offer as the club won't be worth as much. We can also stop buying Carlsberg and adidas products- just the bad press against these products will have them putting pressure on Hicks!

That is plain stupid, what can Carlsberg or Adidas do, do you really think Hicks is going to be worried about them when he doesn't give two sh1ts about us the fans?

I'm actually against any kind of boycott but I think it is very dangerous to talk of doing it now when our season is so delicately balanced between ok and disaster.

My idea is 'plain stupid' where as you want to wait until next season and then ruin our chances in that as well- get a grip! What power do adidas and carlsberg have- more than you standing outside in the cold! If people were to boycott buying shirts then i couldn't see adidas being happy, or a potential replacement- would you sponser a team who's fans are refusing to buy their merchandise?

Also- in doing this it means we can still support our team as we all want to!

Yepp good stuff and as I thought, although I fail to see what targeting Tom Hicks's wife will achieve  :p  :D

There is no way that Hicks can indefinitely block Gillett's sale, that would surely not be legal.

I would prefer hearing from the regular match goers like Leon about their thoughts on any boycott, as its easy for me to say boycott the games as I don't go anymore. I do think that the only way to make progress with Hicks is by hitting him where it hurts .... his money belt.

Feck him big style - to be creating all this :censored: in public, in the media and on match day against Inter Milan is simply unbelievable.

Even if Hicks stays for 20 years he will never become part of the club.

:D

If this is all true, i'm glad DIC are not going to leave the pratt alone.
It will hopefully show the fans how much they really want the club.

saint I go the match, and I still think boycotting the match is a waste of time and effort, because the ground will still be filled with people even if it's not the diehard supporters. This club is to big around the world for the ground not to be full.

Plus if we decide to boycott the games, every paper and telly station are going to want interviews with Hicks ensuring more money on his behalf.

Silly idea in my opinion.

4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

plus, aren't the tickets already paid for whether you show up or not?  I don't think you could get your money back for boycotting.  Impact would be more symbolic and in my opinion unnecessary.

I have an open mind on a boycott , but obviously if one were to take place there would have to be picketing outside the ground. I sincerely doubt that many true fans would cross a LFC fans picket line. One things for certain chanting Hicks out is not going to have any effect at all.

season tickets are already paid for joe, as well as every match that is already sold out, which is probably a fair share with not long left before the season ends.

Also how long does this boycott go on for? Do we stand outside for 10 years and still see Hicks in charge? How many would be outside come European Cup semi final night?

So how is the ground going to be filled anyway then , if the tickets are already sold?

If there was a boycott it wouldn't have to be for long before the banks start becoming uneasy about their money and reassessing the idea of loaning even more! Probably 2 or three matches would get the point across, but its whether it could be organised, enough people took part and the effect it had on team results.

This just seems like grasping onto straws if you ask me.

As for Kraft getting involved I remember him saying earlier in the season that anything was possible but he had concerns with being able to produce money for players. I think his exact words were "im not sure if we could be on a level playing field". Basically he doesnt have any DIC/Abramovich type money either.

What in gods name is happening to this club.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.
