What a ruin another season?!!

The time to do it is now! We need to hit him in the pocket now so he sells up and we can start afresh next season.
I also don't think abandoning games will happen as they'll be a million overseas fans clubs, fans down south etc that'll buy up the tickets if available. What we need is a serious figurehead- an ex player/manager or even Moores to get a serious movement going fo rwhich people will follow. What we can do is picket the club shop and food stands which'll have an instant visibility on the balance sheet- if he sees this and we let him know it will grow to us abandoning games then it'd be in his interst to take the money now before DIC start to reduce their offer as the club won't be worth as much. We can also stop buying Carlsberg and adidas products- just the bad press against these products will have them putting pressure on Hicks!

Dubai chief quits after failed Liverpool deal
By Simeon Kerr in Dubai
Published: March 11 2008 10:10 | Last updated: March 11 2008 10:10

Dubai International Capital said on Tuesday that the chief executive of its emerging markets division has left the company after Liverpool owner Tom Hicks on Monday blocked the sale of his co-owner’s shares to DIC.

Rabih Khoury, a senior executive within the government controlled private-equity group owned by Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is leaving ”with mutual consent” to pursue other interests, DIC said in a statement. In the meantime, Anand Krishnan, DIC’s chief operating officer, will fill his role on an interim basis.

It is unclear whether Mr Khoury’s departure is linked to the failed Liverpool deal, but he is a fan who has been photographed attending matches with chief executive Sameer al-Ansari. Mr Khoury had led DIC’s investments into emerging markets, including the Middle East and Asia.

The firm – with assets of $13bn – plans to treble its $1.5bn in regional holdings over the next few years as developed markets weaken and western suspicion of the intentions of sovereign wealth funds grows. DIC has three main divisions: a private-equity buyout arm; the Global Strategic Equities Fund that takes large positions in publicly-traded stocks; and the emerging markets division.

Mr Ansari had to clarify off-the-cuff remarks during a conference speech in Dubai last week, when he said even further injections of capital along the lines of Abu Dhabi’s $7.5bn investment into Citi might not be enough to rescue the bank.

His comments helped drive the largest US lender’s stock price to its lowest level for nearly a decade after an analyst report also forecast further writedowns at the bank. The next day DIC issued a statement saying it had never expressed an opinion in Citi’s “financial condition.”

Mr Hicks held talks with DIC in Dubai earlier this week, but he stopped his business partner George Gillett selling DIC his 49 per cent stake in the club, claiming Dubai’s plans for management by committee were unworkable.

Mr Gillett had been willing to sell 98 per cent of his half stake in the club to DIC for more than £80m, with the rest of his stake moving to Mr Hicks thus giving him control of the club.

DIC had said it was in advanced discussions about buying a stake in the club. The firm had tried in late 2006 to buy the club but was edged out by the current owners.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

That is plain stupid, what can Carlsberg or Adidas do, do you really think Hicks is going to be worried about them when he doesn't give two sh1ts about us the fans?

I'm actually against any kind of boycott but I think it is very dangerous to talk of doing it now when our season is so delicately balanced between ok and disaster.

One home game out of 19 equals 5% + of the seasons home revenue guys..don't underestimate boycotting one game ..it is a serious amount of money.

More importantly we will have done something no other supporters have ever done...show a depth of resolve never seen before and being the fat coward he is he will cr-p himself....and sell.

Also, the message will NOT get through by chanting before./after matches.

He doesn't give  fig about this club or it's supporters..if you haven't learned that by now you need a brain transplant.

Until I read a statement by DIC saying they have given up trying to buy a share of the company then I don't think it is the right time to be taking this kind of action, I would much rather that we secure champions league football for next year, irrespective of who owns us that must be the priority, it is stupid to cut off your nose to spite your face.

The way Hicks (The arrogant yankee) is behaving is a total disgrace to LFC and Liverpool fans, which it does indicate that he has no respect towards the LFC and its fans at all, this profiteer yankee is here for one and only reason, that is just to make more profit since his disgrace and unwelcoming taking over of LFC, and the whole blame of this saga is totally lies with the previous owner, and they should not be forgiven for what they have done, to put LFC in such mess, they originaly should sold the club interest to DIC rather than those two disgraceful disrespectful cawboys, they both have put the LFC in the mud, and the whole fans should stand up against them and espacially this :censored: Hicks, LFC's fans should never allow those two disgraceful owners to get away with it, and if we (the fans) do not take a firm action against them now, even if ti means boycotting games, otherwise, it will be well too late to save the club!!!!.

Reds owner rejects ‘fans in boardroom’
Mar 11 2008 by David Prentice, Liverpool Echo

TALKS between Liverpool’s co-owner Tom Hicks and Dubai International Capital collapsed after DIC proposed putting a fans’ representative on the Anfield board, the ECHO reveals today.

It is understood the Dubai negotiators wanted a supporter representative in the boardroom with full voting rights.

The plan to give fans a stake in the club’s running followed a trip to Liverpool by a representative of DIC who met members of supporters’ groups campaigning for the Americans to sell.

Billionaire Hicks swiftly pulled the plug on discussions held yesterday with DIC, saying: “Based on a meeting held earlier today in Dubai between my representatives and officials of Dubai International Capital LLC, as well as other recent contacts between us and them, I have decided to terminate any further discussions with DIC regarding their possible purchase of a minority stake in Kop and, in turn, in the club.

“DIC made it clear that if they invested in the club, they would want it to be managed by committee.

“Based on my 13 years of successful experience as an owner of professional sports teams, and based in particular on the situation at Liverpool Football Club over the past year, it is clear to me that such a committee approach would not be in the best interest of Kop, of the club or of the club's loyal and passionate supporters.

“Accordingly, I have decided to exercise my right under the Kop Football (Holdings) Limited partnership agreement to veto any sale of any portion of Kop and the club to DIC.

“I and my colleagues and representatives will continue to explore a number of other options with regard to the ownership of Kop and the club aimed at achieving an appropriate ownership, financial and organisational structure for Kop and the club over the long term.”

DIC have made no official comment since, but significantly have not said they are no longer interested in purchasing the club – or a significant stake in it.

It is understood their interest has not waned despite Hicks calling off the deal. It has also been suggested Hicks wanted the Dubains to pay for the building of the new stadium and for future transfer fees, but without any real say over big decision regarding the club’s future.

There has also been no comment from American co-owner George Gillett, who has fallen out with Hicks and has made no comment for many weeks and whose name has been missing from all recent statements issued from America.

Gillett is understood to have agreed in principle to sell 49% of his half stake to DIC, and the other 1% to Hicks to give the Texan a controlling interest.

DIC have accepted that Hicks will not sell his share in Liverpool in the near future, but would insist on a clause giving them first refusal to buy his stake.

Fans today reacted with dismay to the decisions. Les Lawson, secretary of Liverpool Official Supporters Association, said: “This has gone down like a lead balloon. We just want Hicks and Gillett to do what’s right for Liverpool Football Club.

“Hicks is doing this because he wants to run LFC in a particular way. DIC were saying they wanted to run the club by committee, that’s how it has always been done.

“I just hope they don’t walk away, but continue to force the issue.

“As far as I am concerned, there is no way Hicks and Gillett are going to win back the trust of the supporters.”
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Thats the worst news of the lot and I´d say it looks like its all over.

If this guy was the driver behind the move then DIC´s motivation has just walked out of the door.

:D OK you have a point there but the most important thing is to secure European football for next year, and boycotts etc will just affect the team and not Hicks.
Everyone is making the assumption that Hicks is a rational human being, he isn't, he thinks in the same way as his good old pal George Dubbya, who invaded Iraq for entirely wrong reasons.
