Since when has money been free?

If you buy the shop down the road, the business will automatically have a debt repayment every month. We didnt get 350 million out of thin air, someone, somewhere within the G&H empire has to pay both the interest and repayment of the loan value - is 30 million simply interest or also includes repayment of the capital amount - ie are we repaying the debt as well as servicing it?

If just interest then you could pay we are better of than if LFC Ltd also had to pay off the capital loan but someone, somewhere is also repaying that value to the banks.

Dont get me wrong, I've changed my views and I want these busters out tomorrow but lets also remember that money aint free. :(

No the loan will almost certainly be interest only Reg. The accountants like the interest only loans for businesses as it allows the company to offset interest payments against it's taxable profit (at least I think that's the guts of what my bean counter told me whan I bought my business). He has since told me there's no point in paying off the capital value of the loan on the business, far better to steer any spare cash (as if) onto paying off the mortgage on the house.

The way I see it (and I could be talking absolute b0ll0cks here), the owners are in a kind of win win situation. If we can't pay off the interest on the loan, they personally are not liable as it's held by this KOP LTD front thing. We'd probably either have to sell a significant amount of our assets (ie players such as Torres and Gerrard), cut down significantly on our outgoings (sell some players to reduce the wage bill) or alternatively, they could flog the club to somebody rich enough to wipe out the debts and give them a nice klittle pay off. If on the other hand we are successful and can service the loan, the value of the club goes up and they'll be able to sell it for more, as well as the fact that they'll pocket a few million a year in straight skims. A classic win win situation.

Two things spring to mind here. Firstly it can't be beyond the realms of possibility for the government to put legislation in place which prevents the possibility of sporting institutions whose asset base is entirely the result of years of fan worship being raped of their heritage like this. Secondly, David Moores and Rick Parry should hang their heads in shame. The whole thing is an insult to the literally millions of fans throughout the years who have spent much of their hard earned going through the turnstiles at Anfield and have built up the club so these two fools could allow it to be molested in the way that it cuurently is. They should be embarrased to show their faces at the scene of their heineous crime.

Honestly, HG is doing what businessmen should be doing. There is a possibility that they could succeed in bring us a stadium and finally success in PL. There is too much negativity the way I see it. Yes, the debt is huge, but how else are we going to built the stadium. Without the stadium, we can't compete financially with the rest.

I know some will be happy with the same old stadium and all, but what will happen to Liverpool down the road? not much going for us.

Now it is a gamble that are willing to take. The question is do we want Liverpool to succeed and not go the way of Leed? If we do then like it or not we have to support it 100% and make sure we will not go that way. Fill the stadium and buy the clubs stuff. Just get the marketing department going so we can rival ManU and Real Madrid and Arsenal in term of income. Then suddenly you will see the bright light at the end of the tunnel..

The begining is tough.. the end will be better. Perseverence and optimism is needed.. Because without it, Liverpool will fail. It is not an option. Put aside our opinions and feelings and go support the club.

Have a look at the profit the Club has made over the last few years and then you may understand why everyone is so concerned.

£30m is the reported interest a year so far. That loan was only for G&H to buy the Club. If they have plans to build a stadium they will have to borrow a further £300m or so. How the hell will we pay for that and remain competitive?

Have a little think.

I can't wait to read the replies that this post is going to get from people who can be ar*sed to pick it apart. I would, but my space bar is being a c*nt. I practically have to punch it to get it to work.

Unfortunately we had to put our faith in the previous owners making the right choices but looks like they screwed up.

No doubt Moores and Parry are more than aware of this but they put us here and now where flaming stuck arent we and saddled with a monumental debt.

I assume that if these people had known we would end up debt ridden they would not not have sold the club and they could have taken a loan out themselves.

The whole idea of selling was to ensure the clubs future was secure but that is not what has happended.

Moores and Parry have had their pants pulled down and frankly they must be mortified at the daily fiasco that is Hicks and Gillett.

It's not just about persevering through this, the fact is that the interest on the loan is gonna eat up most of the profits the club makes. Thats before we've even begun to pay off the the loan - all £350 million of it. Where is the club gonna find that kind of money from whilst still remaining competitive on the pitch. In a word it won't. This debt is basically the club paying for the honour of being taken over by these two numpties.
The club would have been in a much healthier position had David Moores just gone to the banks cap in hand and said, 'I'd like a loan for £350 million to build a new stadium for my football club'. Instead we've got these two who've gone to the banks last year and said, 'we want to take over Liverpool FC can we have a couple of hundred million to buy all the shares. The time has come for that loan to be paid back and now H&G have gone back to the banks and said, 'OK we don't wanna pay for that loan out of our own assets so can we have an even bigger loan to cover last years and to cover all of the wasted admin work we've had done for a new stadium'. By the way the club is gonna pay for all of this, if they can't pay some we agree that we'll cover some of it but otherwise the clubs the one you go to for the dosh'.
This could very well send us down the Leeds Utd road and we aren't even getting a stadium out of this current debt. These two are basically gambling with LFC's future just to cover their take over.

I know some will be happy with the same old stadium and all, but what will happen to Liverpool down the road? not much going for us.

Now it is a gamble that are willing to take. The question is do we want Liverpool to succeed and not go the way of Leed? The anger is not about not wanting to move forward it's the fact that this debt WILL set the club back. As it stands the club has very little going for it. Unless G&H are going to personally finance team building out of their own pockets (fat fucking chance) we've got very little chance of progressing as a team.

I agree that the club/team does need our support at this time but Hicks is just gonna cream every last cent out of this club unless he is run out of town (think the Yankee little cowboy should understand that term  :p )

Was listening to that phone in for a bit.

That was a right spoon talking about turning Anfield around (physically) and redeveloping it and backing the Yanks for bringing in Torres. Well f*cking excuse me, but it was Rafa that brought him in, not the Yanks!

I heard that as well! :D

He wanted to keep the main stand as the Kop and knock the rest down then build 3 more sides onto it!
That would be strange, then the new stadium would be as wide as it is long now!

It would be the widest stadium in the world!

Not to mention we'd have demolish the whole thing apart from one stand. So we'd be watching a game with a one stand stadium when all this is taking place. Some people are just born stupid, honestly. What a dildo.

With these two clowns as owners our future is Leeds.

But the big question is why it was sold to them in the first place. Their record with other clubs isnt exactly great, so who was deluded enough to think that they would be good for Liverpool?
