Now he's shown his class and is in demand. We'll probably have to double what we would have paid him. Well done Mr Parry.

We should keep him, particularly given Hicks' support for Rafa's targets as he's said in the new interview with Radio 5 (and we all know how trustworthy he is :;): ??? )

To be fair they were hoping that the FA would step in during the lst year or so, make those type of deals illegal and that we would get him for next to nothing. Unfortunately the gamble doesn't seem to have worked and we will have to pay the price. I think the FA are still investigating things though.

I think nearly everything printed about Masch and his contracts etc you will find either in the various Mascherano threads or in this one mate.

Next best thing would be LFC2007 he seems to be the legal expert on these matters since peewee went AWOL

Legal expert  :D

TBH, it's difficult to come to any sort of meaningful conclusion concerning his current transfer status, because all we can go by are media reports. Actual quotes, if they are actual quotes, are hard to come by.

I haven't seen any direct quotes from Joorabchian recently, all we know is, the player wants to stay with us, Rafa wants him to stay and he'd like a seal to be struck as soon as possible. You'd imagine it would be possible to strike a deal, if all parties are willing. I'm not aware of any legal complications that have arisen recently concerning his ownership status.

Mascherano joined Liverpool in an unusual lease arrangement in January, with the Merseyside club paying Joorabchian’s company, Media Sports Investment (MSI), a loan fee to secure the player’s services until the end of this season. Under the terms of that agreement, Liverpool can sign a long-term deal with Mascherano before June 30 next year by paying MSI £17 million and assuming control of his economic rights as well as his playing registration, but planned changes to Fifa’s regulations on third-party ownership mean that the club will wait before deciding to pay that sum.

I should have said FIFA not FA before mate

In hope that this doesn't confuse things further:

Had we got Masch to sign an agreement to join us if we exercised the £17m purchase clause he would have to join us in June. If FIFA had changed their rules and outlawed the deal then Masch would have been a free agent. We still wouldn't have had to pay the money until this June even if Masch had signed up.

Brazilian fans hit out at Liverpool owner
Rory Smith 27/01/2008

Tom Hicks left a legacy of furious fans, broken promises and legal wrangling after his first attempt to crack football fell apart, it has been claimed.

The Texan tycoon's firm Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst bought into Brazilian giants Corinthians in 1999 in a bid to tap in to the lucrative South American market.

Just as at Liverpool, they promised a state-of-the-art stadium - but were soon left facing a fans' backlash. And when Hicks's company struggled to make the venture profitable, they pulled out after just three years.

Hicks and co-owner George Gillett revealed a £350million re-financing deal for Liverpool last week which means work can commence on the club's new 70,000-seat stadium. But a source close to Hicks said: "The company invested heavily in South America throughout the 1990s and the deal with Corinthians was part of that.

"But the funds they set up did not return money for their investors and it went downhill completely after 9/11.

"Hicks, Muse lost a great deal of money on the investment and it was large factor in Tom 'retiring' from that company."

Through its subsidiary PanAmerican Sports Teams, Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst invested more than £40m in Corinthians in the first year of what was supposedly a 10-year partnership alone.

The deal was part of a project to invest in Brazilian football and broadcast it all over Latin America on the Hicks-owned TV station PSN. The cash injection fired Corinthians to victory in the 2000 World Club Cup and even gave the club the funds to sign Brazil stars Dida and Luizao.
SOUND FAMILIAR ?
But the new regime infuriated fans when they started selling off star players the following summer and announced plans to change Corinthians' famous black-and-white kit.

One Brazilian source said: "The Americans came into Corinthians with a lot of money but did not understand the way football works. They brought in a strong team of advisers to administer the club but the way they did things was very American, in the crudest sense. The model they wanted does not function here. Things had to be done their way.

"I can understand why Liverpool fans are angry with Hicks - but perhaps they should ask why their football industry has come to such a point that he was able to buy the club."

Hicks announced on Friday a £350m refinancing plan which strengthened his grip on Anfield despite fury from fans over a perceived lack of backing for boss Rafa Benitez. The deal loads £105m worth of debt on to the club, including £60m for work on the much-delayed new stadium.

But Corinthians fans never saw the 45,000-seat ground on the outskirts of Sao Paulo which Hicks, Muse promised them in 1999. Brazilian pundit Paulo Vinicius Coelho said: "They promised a new ground and it never arrived."

Even though Hicks, Muse pulled out of the club in 2003 after a row with a local partner over funding, it was not until December 28 2007 that the legal wrangling between the company and Corinthians finally ended.

------------------------------------------------------

The only way we can move forward as a club is when these two sell up and never come back.

They well Hicks more so has turned the whole club upside down within 3 months, I hate his guts and wish he would just go, we are a laughing stock, riddled with debt we cannot afford and our team is playing woeful all down to one man Tom Hicks.

This man has given me many sleepless nights I am so worried about the future of the club whilst it remains in this mans hands dont be fooled by him people he does NOT have our best interests at heart he doesnt give a fu.ck about us or the club just $$$$.

He is making everyone extremly upset and unhappy and we cannot move forward till he is ousted and its up to us to give him that one final push so we can get back to some stability and winning ways.

Tom Hicks will be the death of LFC dont be fooled by fancy pictures.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Kenny Dalglish 1/2/2011

REST IN PEACE PHIL, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

I'm telling you, Hicks is the devil incarnate and what really worries me is that a significant amount of our fans are gullible, fickle, twa.ts who will accept the current situation just because of the glossing over operation that Hicks thinks he's masterminding.

Are we going to go the way of all these other clubs/franchises he has bought and ruined or are we better? You know I have my doubts :(  Maybe we should accept that under Hicks we will be selling Gerrard and Torres within 3 years and will be fighting relegation and administration.

We must be able to do something which gets rid of him. I think it's time for a hardcore of fans to make it personal. Let's fly over and find this cun.t and let him know. This is like watching someone in your family slowly being killed. Would you accept that or find the perppetrator and sort him out?

Maybe i need to sleep on it - on second thoughts i'm packing my toothbrush and my kecks :D

Tom Hicks finally came out and addressed some of the issues that have been raised between the Liverpool owner and the club - and for right now - he's being careful to say the right things.

Along with publicly backing Rafa Benitez, Hicks also said that Rafa will get the money needed to keep star midfielder Javier Mascherano at Anfield.

Would I endorse a proposal from him to sign Mascherano? Absolutely. We have never turned down Rafa's request for money for any player. We have funded his transfer request in January (£6m for defender Martin Skrtel) and are already having conversations about plans for the summer.

It wasn't all hearts and flowers from the Texan, who admitted talking to DIC and a rift between he and co-owner George Gillett, but the public backing for the Argentine midfielder should give the red half of Liverpool a little something to be happy with.

Here's hoping at least.

I don't trust either of them but hicks especially, I'm sick of seeing 'new pictures' of the stadium now and don't care about it, I just want to see the team doing the business on the field and getting results.

I listened to Hicks on BBC sports week and although he said Rafa would have the money for Mascherano, we'd get a new stadium, Rafa would be the manager for another 2 years at least and that he wouldn't sell the club I didn't believe a f$ckin word of it

I'm scared sh1tless of what these two are going to do to our beloved club :(

I noticed the following on RAWK (which in-turn was ripped from RAOTL).

Now who knows if its true, partly true, or just a load of ol' bullsh.ite

but i found it plausable.... so as I hadn't seen it on here, I'd thought I'd post it on here as well for anyone who hasn't seen it....

--------------------------

Posted on RAOTL by John Mackin with the following introduction:

"This is from someone who should know whats happening as he is a confidant of several of those involved. I trust this source entirely:"

Read on...

Quote
The goings on within Anfield at the moment are quite outstanding.

Let me be clear from the off –

D.I.C or Dubai International Capital – Remain intent on securing Liverpool.

Regardless of what Tom Hicks said on Sportsweek on Sunday morning, which for me was at best vague, there remain serious divisions between Hicks & George Gillett.

George Gillett did sign the new finance deal, as so to safeguard his own ‘investment’ (loosely used term there) – but the relationship between the pair is at crisis point.

George Gillett’s son has LEFT Anfield at his fathers request & it’s understood by those within Anfield, he will not be returning.

George Gillett was said to be ‘outraged’ by Hick’s public comments about the approach made for Jurgen Klinsmann & pulling his son out from Anfield was a public show of his anger.

However with Foster leaving, big problems will arise as he was responsible for all the communication between the American owners & Roffa’.

I understand he got on very well with Foster & he was responsible impart for Benitez not walking out just recently. Benitez was made aware he had Gillett seniors full support, where as Hicks, as I said in another post – wanted him sacked.

Gillett vetoed the move & a power struggle ensued.

Gillett’s refusal to back Hick’s caused problems, on top of the big problems that already exist due to the financing.

George Gillett is it seems quite a decent chap. From the people I have spoken with who know him or have knowledge of him, he sounds affable, charming & I suppose most importantly, has a genuine liking for Liverpool.

Gillett wants to remain true to his word. When he promised Mr. Moore’s & the board members, his intention was not to saddle the club with debt, he meant it, but when he was gifted his opportunity to buy Liverpool, it fast became obvious he wouldn’t be able to do it on his own.

He’s paper rich – not cash rich, so as a result he approached Tom Hicks & a plan was put together quicker than a weeks holiday & the lack of initial groundwork is proving severely ill-advised.

George Gillett is said to favour doing a deal with D.I.C, as he has realised the ‘Project’ is going to prove impossible with the limited finances they have.

He understands that:

Yes – they have the money to as Tom Hicks said ‘Start digging’ but that is just about it. They do not have the means to pay for a further minimum £300+ million it will take to complete the stadium.

This is something that Tom Hicks is all too well known for.

Promising the earth – delivering nothing.

Many thousands of Texas Rangers fans would testify to that.

Promising to build the worlds best this and that’ – instead bleeding the companies of every single Dollar, Dime & Cent.

He sells club assets – from the clubs land to the best players. He minimizes wage bills & raises costs for real fans astronomically.

For any Liverpool fan who wants to see the degree of hate felt towards this man – read this:

http://rangersorrobbers.wordpress.com/2007....t-hicks

Many people are of the view that it is only a matter of time before George Gillett makes public his intention to do business with D.I.C.

Gillett knows if he forces Hicks to sell his share of Liverpool to him, then he can sell the whole package on to D.I.C, which in turn will stand to make Gillett a massive profit.

He is the one individual who can realise D.I.C’s dream.

Mr. David Moore’s held recent meetings with Gillett, with the sole intention of making it clear how deeply he disapproves of what’s gone on at the club in recent months & weeks.

He called on Gillett to honour the original terms of the takeover & has even sought legal advice, even though that avenue would achieve little in real terms.

Moore’s is seriously worried his name is turning to mud in Liverpool & is determined to win back the fans he still regards as his own. He doesn’t want to go down in Liverpool’s proud history as the man that managed to help sink Liverpool FC.

When Moore’s made his feelings known to Gillett, Gillett promised he would either live up to the original promise but if that proved impossible, he would look to do a deal with Dubai International Capital.

My friend told me Moore’s was promised Tom Hicks does not & would not have carte blanche over what happens to Liverpool.

Only last week discussions between Tom Hicks, George Gillett & D.I.C regarding the sale of Liverpool FC were ongoing – regardless of what Hicks claims.

Those negotiations are said to be ongoing as we speak.

D.I.C are determined to gain hold of Liverpool, but do not want to be seen or be perceived to be paying massively over the odds for the club. They think that would set a dangerous precedent & send out the wrong message to people who they deal with in the future.

But no matter how vitriolic the statements Hicks makes regarding selling, the facts are:

He is hanging on to his piece of Liverpool by a thread.

When D.I.C make there move and come to agreement with Gillett, Hicks will have no choice but to re-evaluate his options.

So Liverpool FC Fans.

Don’t panic.

There really is a bright light at the end of this ugly tunnel & that light in the form of D.I.C will make recent events pale into insignificance & resign Tom Hicks to his rightful place:

The history books.

One thing is for sure, word from Gillett on anything at all recently is very, very conspicuous by its absence.

To me George Gillet has always seemed to be an ok type of fella, but Hicks just has a look of arrogance about him. I hope that tw*t sees sence and sells before he takes us down the Leeds utd route. :veryangry
