Neill, Kewell link doubtful

August 31, 2006 BLACKBURN Rovers have rejected a Liverpool bid for Australia defender Lucas Neill.
And Socceroo teammate Harry Kewell is one of three players reportedly set to be shipped out of Anfield.
The Reds made an offer this week for Neill, 28, who can play anywhere in the back four, but it has been rejected.
It is understood Blackburn manager Mark Hughes is determined to hold onto the Aussie, who joined Rovers from Millwall in 2001.
Liverpool's move is a surprise given the versatile defender's past record against the Reds.
Neill was involved when Jamie Carragher broke a leg leg three years ago, an incident which led to a furious war of words between former managers Gerard Houllier and Graeme Souness.
"Jamie Carragher was injured at ten past three on Saturday and the apology came 48 hours later - it was absolutely pathetic," Houllier said at the time.
"Maybe Neill is a good footballer but he behaves like a bad gentleman."
Neill was sent off for his challenge in that league match in September 2003, and he was again red-carded against the same opposition in a Cup game a month later.
His signing could coincide with the departure of Kewell who, with Salif Diao and Jan Kromkamp, has been linked with moves elsewhere.
Newly-promoted La Liga club Recreativo Huelva has French striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle from Liverpool overnight.
Simana-Pongolle, 21, signed a one-year deal with an option for another year.
The former youth international joined Liverpool in 2001 but found himself out of favour with manager Rafael Benitez and was loaned to Blackburn for half of last season.
