Which, in turn, makes me think of how great it's gonna feel when we knock them off their perch this season.  Especially if Bellamy does the business against them and gets them right wound up!

There...back on topic!   :D

Nicely done, kofi!!!  :D

is he? well see

Bellamy has pace and thats it, he is not a good finisher, injury prone and rarely gets his eyes up from looking at his feet. We can do better, and i hope to god he is not the only striker we get.

I don't care if you knock him for being an :censored:, but please please don't slag his ability. It just makes you look like a fool because Bellamy has been excellent this entire year with Blackburn.

Bellamy has pace and thats it...rarely gets his eyes up from looking at his feet

myth #1. wait...It sounds like you describing another player i know. I just can't remember his name.. goofy haircut, kind of nutty, terrible injury extremely petulant and selfish though.

Bellamy really does look up a fair amount. He's no Bergkamp, but he not a complete selfish git like Defoe.

he is not a good finisher

myth #2. Bellamy was probably the most effiecient Striker in the EPL this year outside of Roon, Fowler, RVN, and Henry. Unlike Ruud and Fowler, he creates chances on his own. Plus if you watch his compilation, he scores with his head, right boot, and left boot.

i hope to god he is not the only striker we get.

Well if we get Kuyt you will be massively let down. He sucked so bad against argentina today. Im hoping it was an off day, but to be honest he looked slow on the ball and off of it. In my oppinion, not as good as Bellamy.

You entitled to you oppinion, but I'm just trying to enlighten you. I recomend you watch a replay of some of Blackburn's matches. Bellamy even when he didn't score was terrific.

I've kept quiet on this so far, with it looking more likely by the day its a done deal I supose I'll say what I feel this.

In my opinion we could and should have signed a better player. I rate Bellamy as a good player, but I'm not convinced he's the 25 goal a season striker we need. This clubs always had class strikers, Owen, Fowler, Rush, Beardsley, Dalglish, Keegan... he's not that standard of player.

Some of Rafa's signings so far have been questionable to say the least and he's got it wrong with quite a few so far. I'm hoping this turns out to be a good signing but I can't help myself thinking that this is another Crouch situation where he could have got a far better player for similar money. He signed Crouch when he should have signed Ashton and if i'm honest i although he's a greedy little **** i think Defoe's a better footballer and would be available for not a great deal in price.

The lad does have a good alround game though, but his only truely outstanding attributes are work rate and pace.

I remember him coming from Norwich where he looked a real prospect, then at Coventry he really did struggle to impress consitently and failed to do what Robbie Keane had done the season before.

He improved at Newcastle and was then made a scape goat by Souness once he took charge.

What concerns me is can he do is against the very best defence's, IE Chelsea and United and can he stay injury free.

The lads injury prone, granted, not as much as Owen, but he still misses alot of games throughout the seasons with injury. Also his obvious attitude, although i think alot of this is simply down to bad press i would agree this is something that would cause a slight concern.

The scarey thing is if Rafa has this wrong and Bellamy fails we could find ourselves even further behind Chelsea.

Will Belamy improve the squad and help us beat lesser sides more convincingly? I think he will do yes.
Can Bellamy help us open up Chelsea and Uniteds defence consitently? I'm not so sure...

The reason i ask that question is i can see United, Chelsea and Liverpool being so strong next season that the only teams they will drop points against is against each other and MAYBE Arsenal and Tottenham away.

As I see it there seems to be 5 issues that have split the "want Bellamys" from "the Dont want Bellamys"

1 Bellamys attitude (Bit of a c*nt)

2 behavioural problems (ALLEGEDLY assaulting a young girl)

3 ability(has he got any?)

4 goal scoring(can he get enough)

5 injury prone(Move over Cisse?)

1/ His attitude is a concern because we did well last season and seemed to have a good team spirit that we dont want damaged or ruined for the sake of any player however good he may be. I am however convinced that Rafa has done his research and spoken to players and managers who KNOW the truth about Bellamys attitude. This will have been seriously considered before any approach was made and from what I understand Rafa will be talking to Bellamy personally just to make sure.

2/The alleged assault happened in March this year while he was a BLACKBURN PLAYER. The case has not yet come to court so I am not willing to find someone guilty before a court does. It does however highlight the fact that he has not been trouble free since joining Blackburn as others have suggested. I am sure Liverpool would have serious doubts about buying him if the case was one which a good lawyer and a wedge of cash couldnt solve. (cynical but true) As long as it doesnt harm any sponsorship deals or Liverpools reputation I am willing to leave this to the court to decide.

3/I dont see how anyone can really question his ability.Think of Baros with better finishing, the ability to lookup and see other players, and whos head doesnt drop when things arnt going well and thats Bellamy.

4/ His goalscoring ability has only been questioned by me so either Im a genius or Im wrong and as I am no genius I must be wrong.(I still cant see him getting 20 goals a season or scoring against top teams)Sorry for the outburst!

5/He will have to pass a medical examination before he signs, during which all his past medical problems will be thoroughly checked prodded and poked. Fast players seem more prone to injury than slower players and is maybe the price you pay for having such a quick player. Perhaps better training and a more restricted lifestyle could help in this respect, and nothing restricts your lifestyle like getting married.

In conclusion I would say Bellamy will prove to be a good signing, and if he scores the goals that help us win the EPL will soon become a fans favourite including most of the "dont sign Bellamy brigade". I would have preferred a different striker personally but at the price hes probably the best we could get. Remember Houllier was going to sign Lee Bowyer who I consider to have a much worse reputation. By the way Bellamy only texted Shearer not Souness (hes crazy not suicidal!)

I am feeling depressed. It seems like there are no good strikers on the market. Yea Bellamy for 6m would be good but more which to be honest isn't available right now. Kuyt looked depressingly bad today. I am just going to throw some names out right now for people we should maybe take a look at:

1). Tevez: I was impressed watching him today. How much would he cost??

2). Alan Smith: Although he plays for United, he plays with heart and determination. Whenever he gets a runout at striker he looks good. Ferguson might be looking to sell as he seems excess to requirements after he acquires some midfielders this year.

3). Darren Huckerby....

:nod  :oh:

ok even more depressed.

Hope .... ( I still hope Defoe and Salviola ) ... but I love Liverpool and Rafa is a part of it. If he wanted to sign Bellamy, let him sign bacause Rafa already have plan for Bellamy. Hope that with this signing we can improve than last season.

Runner-up or Champion is what I would like to see Liverpool next season.

According to the Guardian, Bellamy has signed for us for 4 years at £45,000 a week.

Bellamy joins Liverpool on four-year deal

Dominic Fifield and Ewan Murray
Thursday June 22, 2006
The Guardian

Craig Bellamy will today complete his £6m transfer from Blackburn Rovers to Liverpool after agreeing a four-year deal with the Merseyside club commanding wages of around £45,000 a week, considerably less than was on offer had he opted to prolong his stay at Ewood Park.
Rovers had proposed a similar four-year deal which would have increased his weekly pay packet to nearer £60,000 but the Wales international opted for Anfield. The boyhood Liverpool fan undertook a medical yesterday, cutting short a holiday in Greece, and met Rafael Benítez to discuss the terms of the transfer.

Confirmation of the deal will disappoint Blackburn's manager Mark Hughes, who had revitalised Bellamy's career last season after a turbulent spell under Graeme Souness at Newcastle. The 26-year-old scored 17 times in 32 appearances as a Rover, with the club reluctantly allowing him to talk to Liverpool as the £6m fee activated a clause in his contract if interest was expressed by a club participating in the Champions League

I am really excited

I watched this guy many times and I really wanted us to get him last year but knew it would not happen

He has took a huge pay cut to come here

He'll have a couple of dodgy moments thats the sort of guy he is, however, he has got a really fierce determination to win which will rub off on everyone around him (not that we need to much of it after a few recent finals!!!!).

To those of you that are whining like we have signed the anti-christ ......

6MILLION IS CHICKEN FEED FOR A PLAYER THAT WILL SCORE 15+ NEXT YEAR

HEY IF HE'S GOD IS EXCITED THEN WHY IS ANYONE QUESTIONING HIS IMMINENT ARRIVAL  ???? ??????

:bowdown

ping pong your not a Blackburn fan by any chance??
