His hamstring is minor and won't affect him long term. I'm also confident Mo will remain world class for another two years.

But I would sell him in the summer if a huge offer came in.

He's lost a yard or two of pace and this is probably our last chance to cash in before his contract runs out.

The big question is replacing him. Manure are proof that big money signings don't always produce world class. performances. My worry is replacing Mo's goals and consistency.

Unfortunately, I tend to agree with you woof. Salah will fully recover from the hamstring I'm sure of it, but fact is, he'll be 32 in June and even though he's still our best forward right now, at that age there's no telling when his form might suddenly dip (and it WILL happen) and we end up with a very expensive bench warmer.

So yeah, it's a risk and we may not be able to replace him if we sell, but keeping him is also a risk IMO. Best to sell him while he still has value.

Egypt went out a couple of days ago but Salah probably won't be back until late February.

Egypt apparently declined our request to exclude Salah from their upcoming friendlies. The audacity, they're the reason he got injured in the first place and now they want to risk injuring him again for some freaking friendly matches and they're not even the ones paying him!

I know that we can't deny nations their right to call up players but I think for friendlies we can. Can't we just tell them to f*ck off?

don't be surprised if Mo doesn't get a twinge this weekend, after the City match. This will prevent him from leaving to go play for the egyptians. Klopp will sort it

A few reliable sources saying that Salah is staying and a new contract will be offered to him. Edwards is a big fan of him and would like to keep him. Not sure it's a good thing tbh.

It would be INSANELY stupid to sig a 32 year old to a long term deal that would make him the highest paid player on the team. I'll give it 2 years and it will
look horrible...

I really hope the Salah contract rumours are just a ploy to get the Saudis to pay up. He needs to go as if he stays it causes more problems because the new manager won't be able to drop him if his form stays bad. He won't take a pay cut either so paying him the kind of money we are at his age is silly. Holding out for 100 to 150 mil is fanciful tbh. He's not worth that or anything close to it.

No way FSG is going to allow Slot to sign whatever he wants either. He could be sacked by Christmas if the wheels fall off.

Michael Edwards has consitantly been against giving aging players new contracts: Hendo, Milly quickly come to mind.

Good point Reg. However, it was Edwards that wanted Salah while Klopp wanted Brandt. Edwards might see Salah as his masterstroke and might believe he can still do a great job for us and he's got every reason to believe that, given that Mo's still our top scorer even though he's in poor form.

I as well hope it's just a ploy to get more money for him. If the Saudis offer anything close to £100m we should take the money right away.

Maybe I'm imagining it.
I watched the end of the ceremony after the Wolves game, in particular at Salah. He just seemed emotionless at Klopp and the others leaving and when they were all serenaded. He had no expression on his face.
Could be nothing.
Just curious.

He's still a world class player. And if we can surround him with some classy and pacey forwards he'll easily get 20+ league goals for is next season.

But as many have said, if a huge bid came in, we'd be foolish to not consider it.
