Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby omario » Mon May 09, 2005 10:04 pm

accordin to news in egypt, liverpool have sent an offer to trial alahly midfielder mohamed shawky, i must say as an egyptian this player is top class an i congratualte liverpool in findin this player, he is top class i must say an will be a great replacement for didi hamann. hes about 24 i think and is a big lad with good aerial strength and brilliant passing.  He has been a regualr with egypt's national team lately, and was meant to be going to crystal palace in december but i can assure u he is better than that.

I'm excited, being of jordanian descent myself, hopefully he'll pan out and we'll have someone who can hold the midfield half as well as did can.

im sure he will, btw his team this year alahly broke all kinds of records in the league, they were immensely strong, and non regular players r signin for top clubs already. 3rd keeper signed for feyenoord 2day, and 2nd choice left back is on his way to hamburg.  Shawky is an essential player and he now seems to be headin to the premiership.  alahly btw altho not famous r highly rated an if liverpool win UCL they cud very well meet ahly in world club cup as ahly r favs to win african CL.  Alahly have played a few european sides rescently, in 2001 they beat real 1-0 and a year later beat Roma 2-1, so shawky shud not take long to settle in as he is experienced

glad to see we are looking at players from different parts of the world. Would love to see someone from korea, like what psv has done with their two players.

Players from outside the EEC can not just come to this country and play with out a work permit. But as you have recomended him Iam sure Rafa will make sure its only a formality.

If he's played enough for their national team there should be little problem with a work permit...

What I worry about is the transition between the Egyptian team and Liverpool - a lot more money, a lot more prestige - a player in that situation could either work his a$$ off to live up to the great opportunity...or become a Diouf. What do you know about this guy's character, Omario?
