ALL players drop off in their mid 30s, that's just a fact of life and the club is not interested in sitting with players over the hill on MASSIVE contracts in a few years just cause they are great now. If Salah wants to be one of the best paid players into his late 30s he's should be looking elsewhere.

I can't see why he wouldn't play at the highest level next season, and we may get one more after that. A 2 year deal with a record high weekly payment seems worth it to me.

A player’s contract is a reflection on what he’s done and not what is going to do. He has produced the whole time he was here, it’s fair enough he wants to get paid for it. Think of all the players that have got paid more than him in the world of football that haven’t produced even a fraction of what he has, so if I’m him I’d think I deserve a lot on this next contract.

It’s not sentimental either as it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume he will stay fit for another 3 years at least. I say give him a couple of years with a third year option.

A contract is given based on the output over the length of the contract

It’s now a reward or based on previous performances

That’s what bonuses and incentives are for

When he said we are far from it, maybe his made up his mind now. He knows he'll be gone so he is just giving it his all this season. Win EPL, acheive his own personal records and sign off.

2 more years is fine. It's when you get in the latter half of your 30s that players fall off.

Could get Hunt if he stays but will never touch Rush.

Manchester United have scored 30 goals so far this season.
Mo has scored 25 alone.
Liverpool are playing superb football, without which Mo wouldn't have his 25 goals.
Man United aren't scoring goals because of their lack of general quality, goals reflect the teams footprint on the game.
If Mo leaves LFC this season for any other club, anywhere in the world, his performance will dip because he doesn't have a team as good as LFC around him.
If he leaves, this will always be his finest season.
Mo knows that and would be crazy to leave.

We’d likely be mid-table without his goals.

I really, really hope there is a plan to:

A) renew his contract
And
B) find a long term replacement

Even if he stays, he probably has 2 or 3 seasons left at the very top. Add a major injury and you can cut that to 12 or 18 months.

Some serious planning is require to replace the spine of our team. Get it wrong and we’ll end up back in the wilderness,  like we were in the 1990s

Agree, he knows this and imo wants to stay, and I think he will. Better for LFC, better for Mo.

I think him and VVD will stay, their performances and attitude says it all.

VVD might be staying yeah, but I'm not sure about Mo. He is crucial to our team with all of his goal involvements, but I can't say I agree with all the "pay him his dough" talks. He's already being paid a ridiculous amount, only 2 Man City players (a team that we can't possibly match with money) are being paid more. What he's asking for is just greed. Where do we think his paycheck will be coming from anyway? From us the fans of course. Prices are skyrocketing of tickets etc because of greedy people like him. I want him to stay but I don't support him in his plea for more money. If he's dumb enough to go to Saudi Arabia (the only ones that can pay him what he wants apart from Man City and Real Madrid maybe) after a season like this then I don't know what to say about him.

One thing about Mo that makes him a cut above is his injury record. He wants to play every minute but thankfully he doesn’t miss games through injury. So when you pay him for a shift, he gives it to you.

You say it's greed but to FSG it's business. They avoid or delay spending £60 million replacing him so they'll pay out an extra £10 million in wages to keep him.

If he walks away he can command £500,000 a week wages, so why not split the difference, pay £400 and get on with life? Unfortunately Konate will do the same next year.

Sorry lads but I think we face a massive risk if we give Mo a mega package 2-3 year contract.

His stats are superb for this season but in the 2 PSG games and now Newcastle, he made no impact. It's the clubs Kevin Keegan moment and its the chance to use what we might have budgeted on a contract extension and break the bank on a 25-26 year old. My concern is that he plays for one more season then we're stuck bank rolling a player who isn't good enough in a top 4 side - it could cost us millions.

What makes it worse is we have to replace Nunez as well but there's never a good time to make difficult decisions.
