Our club will do this to you
It's becoming a bit of a joke mate, look at all the Southampton players we have either bought or been strongly linked to over the past couple of seasons (Lambert, Lallana, Lovren, Bertrand, Fonte, Rodriguez, Clyne etc) and now we are supposedly being linked to their chief exec?
Even Ings is a product of Southamptons academy.
Our scouting team must live there or something.

The Dutchman, who went on to manage Fulham briefly after leaving Old Trafford, is reportedly being considered for the role left open after Colin Pascoe was relieved of his duties last week.
While Meulensteen may be a controversial choice for his links with Manchester United and his previous criticism of Brendan Rodgers' lack of investment in backroom staff, he is highly respected in the coaching world.
The 51-year-old is currently working with MLS outfit Philadelphia Union but has a release clause that would enable him to escape if a Premier League club came calling.
And with his family still living in Cheshire, Meulensteen would find it very hard to turn down a job offer in the north-west.
Meanwhile Alex Inglethorpe, the club's academy director, is understood to have shown no interest in stepping up to first-team duties.

I wouldn't mind Meulensteen, he's dutch and his forte is one and two touch football which (if done well) is very hard to defend against. He's always seemed a bit of a grumpy t**t to me as well which is no bad thing when you have a squad like ours who throw the towel in at the slightest setback.

Great post apart from its full of guess work - especially the bit about coming 2nd is ALL down to Suarez.. loved that bit.
There are lots of reason why we failed last season and unfortunately for you, we cannot blame them all on Rodgers (Im not going to type them all out again, there is a post earlier on in this thread)
Blaming Rodgers is far too easy, but say we get a new manager.. we would still have the same problems in the background of this club which is currently having a huge affect on the players we can bring in.
Oh and also I joined this forum the same year that Rafa joined the club..I was previously know as Ola Mr Benitez, but Ive forgotten my password... I havent been on here too much in the past year as it was full of doom and gloom merchants who just wanted us to go out and spend million and millions (ala City and Chelsea) and win the league. Oh and probably making Liverpool bankrupt - Doesnt look like the mentality here has changed too much!
Welcome back.
For me...Rodgers has gone too far down the road to turn back. He preferred to play politics instead of continuing with the cards he was dealt with.
If rafa decided to play politics to make a point instead of using traore, biscan, mellor, pongolle, la tellac...etc, would we have won the champions league ?
I said this many times....but is it asking too much to setup the team to play to Balo's or Lambert's strength ? Instead he decided to make a 20 yr old di@khead our marquee player (at the expense of shattering the team morale of this club) and once he got too big for his head, our form dropped tremendously (and Rodgers still continued to pick him).
I want this club to progress. And for that to happen...Rodgers has to be at least 1000 miles away from this club.
But I also understand why quite a lot of our fans want to give him another season. I respect that. I don't like it though.
Anyway...welcome back. I remembered you were one of Rafa's biggest supporters. That's good.

Naa, that would be daft, they'd never do that.
That would be like selling your best striker without looking into lining up a suitable replacement..... Oh, wait....

Im not sure I totally agree with you with Rodgers playing politics.. but I agree he has got the Stirling thing wrong.. the only good thing is we should get a good price for him when he is sold.
I think Rafa got it right more than he got it wrong, but he was a bit negative, I like the way Rodgers sets this team up, we are exciting to watch and very attacking. I sometimes just wish he would take a leaf out of Rafa's book when we are facing teams that are obviously superior to us and learn to play it a bit safer
ps
Its good to be back, even when I'm moaning!
