Great post apart from its full of guess work - especially the bit about coming 2nd is ALL down to Suarez.. loved that bit.

There are lots of reason why we failed last season and unfortunately for you, we cannot blame them all on Rodgers (Im not going to type them all out again, there is a post earlier on in this thread)

Blaming Rodgers is far too easy, but say we get a new manager.. we would still have the same problems in the background of this club which is currently having a huge affect on the players we can bring in.

Oh and also I joined this forum the same year that Rafa joined the club..I was previously know as Ola Mr Benitez, but Ive forgotten my password...  I havent been on here too much in the past year as it was full of doom and gloom merchants who just wanted us to go out and spend million and millions (ala City and Chelsea) and win the  league.  Oh and probably making Liverpool bankrupt - Doesnt look like the mentality here has changed too much!

Welcome back.

For me...Rodgers has gone too far down the road to turn back. He preferred to play politics instead of continuing with the cards he was dealt with.

If rafa decided to play politics to make a point instead of using traore, biscan, mellor, pongolle, la tellac...etc, would we have won the champions league ?

I said this many times....but is it asking too much to setup the team to play to Balo's or Lambert's strength ? Instead he decided to make a 20 yr old di@khead our marquee player (at the expense of shattering the team morale of this club) and once he got too big for his head, our form dropped tremendously (and Rodgers still continued to pick him).

I want this club to progress. And for that to happen...Rodgers has to be at least 1000 miles away from this club.

But I also understand why quite a lot of our fans want to give him another season. I respect that. I don't like it though.

Anyway...welcome back. I remembered you were one of Rafa's biggest supporters. That's good.  :buttrock

Big rumour tonight that Ian Ayre has left the club, same source that broke the Pascoe and marsh news
Unconfirmed at the moment

Yeah they are discussing it over on RAWK. If the rumour is true I'm not sure what to make of it tbh, I know Ayre gets quite a bit of stick from some sections of our fan base but to be fair to him his expertise is in finance and marketing and that is probably the one area of the club that is over achieving at the moment.
I know he's on that transfer committee but I suspect he's there to answer financial questions along the lines of can we afford such and such a player, I doubt he has much input to who we sign.
If it does transpire that Ayre, Pascoe and Marsh have gone then Brendan has been lucky to survive a cull like that.

It's the kind of cull that says to BR, your next.
Whether that is pre-season, mid-season or end of season only the future will tell.
One things for sure is that next season will be all about results on the field regardless of any other commercial ventures LFC enter.

Unless we have a catastrophic run of form I can't see Rodgers going before next season is over.
Apparently Milner sought assurances from the board before he committed himself to a 4 year deal that Brendan wouldn't be sacked in the short term.

I can't see BR going before next season either. There does seem to be a greater push from within the club to correct the short-comings of last season as well as future proving forthcoming seasons. Things can only get better!

If Ayre was removed from anything to do with football matters I certainly wouldn't be mourning his loss.  :no

Apparently Nicola Cortese is being lined up as his replacement if the rumors are to be believed.

I wish I had your optimism mate, unless we bring in some quality players I can only see the gap between us and the top 4 clubs getting wider.

Southampton again! F**king Hell
This club is obsessed with Southampton!
I was expecting you to say he is the chief exec of AC Milan or Juventus or something!

Well look at what Barcelona did to get where they are today, it was a long process. One which adopted a certain football style that they endorse. It wasn't easy for them, especially with RM and Valencia Kickin a$$. Our current situation is born out of the love of wanting to copy a certain football style rather than being true to ourselves.  Just look at the two new signing. Both robust with good engines. Neither are pretty boys and will gladly get stuck in 'for the course'. This is more of a traditional LFC approach. To build a RED MACHINE, that is relentless for results even if the sight of our football isn't as pretty as others... A part of me still thinks BR is very venerable at the moment as it seems that someone is PI$$ING all over his footballing philosophy. The new signing are also economically viable for someone else to take over i.e. for the price, we may as well take 'em, then any new personnel coming though the doors will have better options and more to work with.

It's becoming a bit of a joke mate, look at all the Southampton players we have either bought or been strongly linked to over the past couple of seasons (Lambert, Lallana, Lovren, Bertrand, Fonte, Rodriguez, Clyne etc) and now we are supposedly being linked to their chief exec?
Even Ings is a product of Southamptons academy.
Our scouting team must live there or something.
