Or perhaps we already have someone who can come in and pull the strings in the middle - Suso.

I might sound harsh and I hate to give up on a kid, but he just doesn't seem like he's going to make it at Liverpool. He lacks too much in pace and nothing about his performances here or at Almeria convinces me that he has an appetite to get stuck in and fight.

I'd aim for a midfield of Hendersons but with a little more craft, vision and shooting ability. That said, I'm really pleased with Hendo and I think he has so much desire and ability to continue improving on all of those fronts.

Way too high, the complete player.

Whilst acknowledging Gerrard as possibly one of the finest players to wear the red of Liverpool ,I still firmly believe the game we're currently playing
suits Gerrard more than it does Liverpool FC.

Gerrard still has enough quality to make it worth while even if he makes more mistakes than we are used to. When his 50 yard passes stop hitting the mark & he becomes a defensive liability costing us points maybe then we can with respect move him to the bench.

Denmark defender Simon Kjaer has said he has his sights set on England captain Steven Gerrard’s shirt ahead of Wednesday’s friendly at Wembley.

Kjaer, who plays for Lille, was quoted as telling the Daily Mirror: “For the first time in my career I have to go to another player and ask for his shirt -- and that’s a bit embarrassing, really.

“My father and the rest of my family are huge Liverpool supporters, and my father has literally forced me to ask for Steven Gerrard’s jersey after the game, so I am a man with a mission - also after the game.

“I have never done that before, because normally you just exchange jerseys with the guy you play directly against. I’m pretty much down to earth with full focus on football and not easy to impress -- a player and not a fan -- but I must say that Steven Gerrard is a very special character and player who deserves the highest respect from anyone in the world of football.”

Once Steven Gerrard retires *cries continuously* he should be given a role of ambassador of the club and joins  Ayre to help him sell Liverpool to top potential players. Potential signings will listen to Steven Gerrard

Another superb performance from the complete liability who's out of his depth!

How on earth anyone can advocate playing Lucas instead of Steven is beyond me and its not suprising that he's ramming the criticism down certain peoples throats.

I salute you, my captain  :bowdown

Fun fact: Gerrard now holds the record for most goals scored by a Liverpool player against the mancs (8 goals).

Best display I've seen from Gerrard in this role ,especially in a defensive sense ,absolutely phenomenal and pivotal in the win against the Mancs.
This was the Gerrard I've been waiting to see all season ,even had the time to knock the fuck  out of Fellaini for climbing all over Sterling.

Top performance from the reds and Gerrard was everywhere.

RBG - Gerrard has been growing into his new role and yes this was his finest performance of the season. However his contribution during the last 9 games has been excellent. 23points out of 27. What a captain  :nod

He's had a good season with the exception of five or six games. He's a major reason we're in the position we're in! :)

See this is where we disagree ,yes today Gerrard was phenomenal because that's how we all  want to see our captain  play ,but its our strikeforce
that should be receiving the plaudits for taking three points from Swansea and Southampton ......However ,lets not argue today as today Gerrard
was a colossus from a defensive perspective and it was completely the type of blood and guts display I have longed to see from Gerrard.

Lets get one thing straight mate ,today was about Liverpool FC  not the Gerrard v Lucas argument.....Absolutely buzzing my tits off with this
result  and it confirms the Title is most definitely on  :buttrock

Think it was the entire team mate. United had one shot on goal and Mignolet produced a fantastic save. Confidence is unbelievably powerful. Synergy can also help to produce incredible performances. The team spirit is nothing short of amazing and BR has a lot to do with that but Gerrard's contribution in that area is also vital. People will say that United were poor today but we certainly helped make them look useless. This is a team that includes Rooney, RVP and Mata who are probably worth close to a £100m and we never gave them an inch. If we can get 23 points out of the next 27 then I think the title is ours. Momentum in sport is critical and at the moment we have it in abundance.

We looked like a side on its way to something very special ,maybe we will once again see the steps of St Georges Hall covered in exuberant reds fans
hailing a championship winning team ......Its been a while mate ,but I can practically taste our rise back to greatness.  :buttrock
