I think being a good manager means showing leadership qualities. Him being our skipper will surely mean he has the right mentality to do the job. Time will tell.

Gerrard I think could be just like Robson - top player but just doesn't have the tactical know how to manage - where as I think Carra does - just have to read their Auto Bios and the DVD about Gerrard to see the difference between the two in terms of how they studying the game. For me it's more about the tactics as opposed to the character.

So you've written Gerrard off from management because you have read his biography?

There is little reward in management these days anyways so a lot more people seem to avoid it altogether. 
One of the most respected managers these days is Jose Mourinho, a man with little class who has never really achieved any sort of long term stability at a club and instead is out for individual honours.
Most managers rarely get time anymore and quickly become a scapegoat with their reputations battered.

You only have to listen to some Liverpool fans negative opinions on Ged, Rafa and even Kenny to see how little reward there is in it.

I think Gerrard is the type of player, who can play on until he's about 40, or as player/ coach. Like Giggs. Presuming he avoids big injuries. I can see him as a 1st team coach or assistant manager at Anfield.
Only reason he hasn't left Anfield is he knows he's got a big money contract for life at Anfield, with the option to manage weaved into his contract somewhere i'm sure.

He should have been a sh!t player, then he would be a better manager. Are you also implying Carra isn't that good?

no chance, most fans these days are realistic, they know it`s going to take a lot of investment to break into that cabal of top clubs and rodgers isnt getting that type of financial backing from our owners.
at the moment most fans would accept us being there or thereabouts and playing good footy, rodgers is ticking both boxes.
plus you never know, we may defy the odds and do something spectacular.

And pigs might fly. Forget winning the league, top four will do. Rodgers has got financial backing, but top players dont want us as we arent in Champions League.

No, he is not. He is saying that in his opinion top players rarely succeed as managers, however he thinks Carra is better suited to the job than Gerrard. For what it's worth, I suspect the same.

However, I do think we need to be careful about elevating one single aspect of mgmt. tactics are important but so is man management, and I've no idea which of them would be best at that. Probably Gerrard, as hardly anyone outside the city understands Jamie's accent!

No I'm waiting for Stevie's next goal to be a 30 yards thunderbolt. 

i think the days of gerrard nearly ripping the net off the goal frame with a 30 yard thunderbolt are well gone, didnt he say himself that his groin injuries have stopped him putting full power into his shots? his last groin injury nearly ended his career, the muscle had all but seperated from his thigh bone, his football career was literally hanging by a thread.
