If hustler confirmed that he is in fact cheesecakery I wouldn't be surprised....

RED BEERGOGGLES » Thu Sep 19, 2013 4:03 pm wrote:Lets get one thing straight ,I don't think anyone is advocating removing Gerrard from our midfield ,rather acting on the sense of being more
practical when the need for a substitution is glaringly obvious. I think expecting Gerrard to expend the energy levels needed for 90 mins to
make a success or even a decent fist of adhering to Rodgers philosophy of retrieving the ball after 6 seconds is largely infeasible and at best
impractical.
It seems posters have come to the considered opinion, or indeed conclusion that pairing Gerrard up with a midfielder of similar ilk would allow
Gerrard to raise his energy levels . It matters not a jot what midfielder you bring in ,because there exists few that would be prepared to sit in
our midfield performing the thankless shift that Lucas currently does covering the chasm in our midfield when Gerrard decides he would sooner
sit in his own half pinging the odd 40/50 yard ball to our one outlet in attack .
I thought Supersub summed it up perfectly in his appraisal.supersub wrote:I don't think anyone , except cheesecakery (WUM), is saying SG should not be involved in every game, but there are some of us a bit more realistic with regards to Gerrard and his contribution for the full 90 minutes. In the words of Rodgers
The only time we rest is when we have the ball. When we haven’t got the ball is the moment for intense pressure to get the ball back. But you can’t go for 90 minutes, so in order to recuperate and conserve energy, we’ll do that sometimes by building our way through the game.”
“You cannot go (press) on your own,” he says. “You work on zonal pressure, so that when it is in your zone, you have the capacity to press. That ability to press immediately, within five or six seconds to get the ball, is important. But you also have to understand when you can’t and what the triggers are then to go for it again because you can’t run about like a madman.” Brendan Rodgers
Its fine to regress back to a time when Gerrard was an indomitable figure in our midfield for 90 minutes plus ,but reality has already sunk its teeth into
that particular definition ,and if we're seriously talking about playing Gerrard in every game then we have a problem.
Dont get me wrong we all hanker for a return of the power Gerrard proffered to his performances for the reds ,but the lad needs a wee break after he's
run his heart out for 50 minutes or so ,at least then we can stand and rightly applaud this legend of the game for another brilliant performance in a red
shirt . I just don't think watching him slink off the pitch struggling for breath after defending for our respective lives for 45 mins affords him the same
form of adoration the lads genius deserves.

Hang on Supersub, exactly when did I say that Gerrard should not be involved in every game?
