Brendan Rodgers thread (signs extended contract)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Im happy enough with Rodgers so far and think he's doing a great job with what he has.
My biggest concern with us is nothing to do with Rodgers, Im just not sure if we have the funds to compete.

I guess 2013 should give us a clearer indication on how much we actually have.
If we can't invest we won't move up the table, star players will leave and we'll be permanently stuck in a rebuilding phase... losing our top youngsters to bigger clubs.

I don't think that will happen, but its my biggest fear like  :D

we can compete mate, our owners are rich. they just wont spunk it on any old sh!te just yet, until Brendan has identified the areas he wants to strengthen.

January transfer window is probably not when they'll unleash him with a big fat wedge, more likely in the summer when FSG and Brenden have analysed the team over a full season. then it'll be a clear out and go crazy

The owners won't spend out of their own pocket

Any money spent will be generated by the club.

They want the club to be sustainable.

fine, that`s basically what they did when they signed carroll, suarez and henderson etc anyway. most of the money came from the sale of the likes of torres, babel, ngog etc
they have signed plenty of lucrative sponsorship deals with the likes of standard chartered, warrior, chevrolet, that indonesian airline, thomas cook etc not to mention the pre season tours to their own baseball stadium and the £54 million t.v money etc
the warrior deal alone is reported to be worth £125m (the club announced it was one of the biggest shirt deals ever) so the club is generating money.
we are earning more money now than we did when rafa was getting us into the CL and at the same time they have drastically cut the wage bill.
time for them to put their hands in their pockets and back their man. they hired him the least they can do is back him.

I concur. All of the money that this club generates needs to be pumped back into the clubs transfer budget.

Unbeaten in the last 4 in all competitions and also the last 4 in the premier league.

Its all begining to click into place and for that we have to give Brendan credit.

When the transfer window shut and we were down to 2 fit senior strikers (Suarez and Borini) When we had injuries to deal with. You have to praise the courage and Shrewdness for Old Rodgers to bring in the 3 young lads in Suso Wisdom and Sterling. I know Wisdom and Suso didnt have the best games yesterday.

Were starting to climb up the table now and a win yesterday would have put us only 3 points behind Arsenal in 4th. Thats gone now and we need to keep calm forget about the awful descion by the linesman yesterday and move on.

This Project of Brendans is starting to take shape and all the stuff thats gone against the team will only unite us and make them stronger as a unit. Hopefully we will get money to spend in the next two windows for Brendan to Strenghten were he thinks we need improving.

If we can get through the next two league games Newcastle (H) Chelsea (A) with 3 points then i feel we can really make a challenge for top 4 this year.

I agree he's starting to implement a style that is beginning to suit us. It's a shame Suarez is about 1 yellow off a games ban but I'm sure we'll manage.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if he plays him on Wednesday against Swansea in the league cup. The ban applies to all domestic competitions, if he picks up a card against Swansea - he'll miss the Newcastle game on Sunday.

I reckon just play him if he's fit. Don't not play him due to a potential ban if he gets a yellow. I'd go so far as to say play your normal game. If the ban happens, it happens. Lets get it over with.

Play Suarez for a Capital One game? No way man, I wouldn't play any of our regular starters. Let the kids handle it.

I meant don't let the potential ban be a factor a decision making. For league cup or any other game

was impressed with his half time subs yesterday. allowed us to regain some control in the second half after we were completely outplayed for the last twenty minutes of the first half.

he was spot on after the game aswell with his comments about phil neville.

Credit due where is due. We came on stronger with the change of formation after halftime. I give it to the man. Sadly after 9 games we are 12th and only managed double figures in terms of points. I have seen the good in the man and also the worst!
