Did you miss when he almost played Everton through? It was almost like the one Distin gifted us but without the pressing from one of their player.

Did you only see his mistakes ? He was even covering for Johnson as well as playing CB .I mean granted it
was a gaff that gifted them the goal ,but after that the fella worked for the shirt ...credit him with that.

I will never fault Carras attitude and work ethic because there is very few that could equal him in that department anywhere but the time has sadly come for him to take a step back and do something else because when he plays for us you can see that it brings the whole defense down in quality. I haven't analysed his play more then the tidd bits I remember but it's hardly strange that a defender has less to do when the opposition team is being pegged back and when you are down a in a cup tie that your CBs will have to cover for your LB and RB because they go foward.

I know Reg ,and I have often voiced my concern on his hesitancy and the effect he has on our defence ,but on Saturday  after harbouring
serious  reservations and then seeing them unfolding before my disbelieving eyes ...I believe in the second half he redeemed himself
and played  with the heart and application we used to readily associate him with .

I know his ship has all but sailed ,but he deserves credit for his second half performance Reg .

Won't deny that I'm speaking partly from my heart here, but I can't forget what a servant this fella has been to LFC .

OK so Carra's past his best, he was never the quickest and now what "legs" he had have apparently have gone, having said that he still reads the game better than most and imo we should think twice before we rush to consign him to the scrap heap. Not suggesting he should be in the starting eleven but I believe as part of the squad he still has something to offer.

Skrtl and Agger when fit are (should be) our first choice CB's. Coates needs more game time to establish himself and is so far relatively unproven in the premiership. Given "Sods Law" (all that can go wrong will at some point go wrong) we wave bye bye to Carra, Agger cracks another rib and Skrtl picks up a red card, what do we do then ?   :wwww  !

Many of us (me included)  were writing  Sammi off two seasons before his time, let's not make the same mistake with Jamie Carragher, he deserves better than that.

I can agree with that and i think we should keep him in the squad for another season. But we should never change the defense to make room for him anymore. Agger and Skrtel should be first choice if both are available, and we need to give Coates more chance when one of them cant play. As a 4th choice CB he is still decent enough, and he can contribute with his experience and leadership in training.

I believe Carragher still has a lot to offer the club both on and off field. For me he's certainly fourth choice after Agger, Skrtel and Coates, but his versatility, experience, influence and knowledge of the game will be invaluable if we are to climb the table next season. I think Carragher like so many others has been a victim of ...well...whatever has made the entire team look so sh*t this year. I'm postive that we as a club are not as bad as we've looked this year. With a better start, a little more luck and a couple more players coming in, we really can be up there next year, and hopefully Carragher can, against the odds, finally get his hands on that trophy that he and Stevie G have coveted for so long. I'm pleased to see that no one has ridiculed him.

Carra is a legend and deserves another season at the club.  Of course he shouldn't be in the starting 11 though unless its completely neccesary.  Its not just his work on the field, but off the field im sure him and Stevie told all the players what to expect in finals, semi finals etc.

I hope there will still be a place for him at the club when his playing days do end.

I don't think you are speaking from your heart at all, I think you are speaking from your head. He is an experienced player, a local lad, someone who we know will do a job for us when needed. You are right, Agger and Skrtel are THE partnership now, but we need quality back up. I think with Coates and Carra we've got that. Perhaps his wages may been seen as too much for a squad player, but I can't see why we'd want to let him go.

In an ideal world we'll have money to spend on another Agger or Skrtel, but I think we all agree that other parts of the squad need more attention. Carra stays. He and Coates should be get plenty of game time next year with the Europa League to play in as well as the league and defending the League and FA Cups!  :grinning:

dont know how many of you saw him push camera away in the build up to the game but it turns out he did not take the news of being left out very well.
he was told he was rested from the last game as he was in the first team for the final only to be told 30sec before the wembley pitch walk he had not made the starting line up.

Since Rodgers was appointed Carragher has been written off but he was probably the most composed and calmest player on the ball today and MOTM by a country mile.

Well done Jamie.

He shouldnt be a starter anymore. If its him and Skrtel in the middle we will be ripped apart. Last night poor finishing from them let poor defending off

i find it odd that rodgers is so full of gushing praise for carragher who is probably the biggest hoof merchant in the squad but yet the likes of aquilani and carroll are being shown the door without even having the opportunity to show the manager what they can do.

I think 700 games for the same club is a major achievement for Carra.

it's irrelevent to think if he is past his best or not or whatever you think he did, he is a proper legend who put sweat and blood for the club and I'll never forget his performances against AC Milan and Juventus in 2005.

Well in Jamie

700 and not out
