Put Llorente in there and we are a different team. That one signing makes the difference. Its small margins, and that particular decision has cost us (quite probably top 4 as i dont see us nicking it). Its the major reason i have a problem with people who say "give him time".. he has already cost us this season, no way can we afford this to happen another year.
My one concern following the Suarez suspension was we needed to sign a forward otherwise our season would be over in 6 weeks. Well we managed to navigate the first leg of the League Cup semi (so thats still intact) but in the league we have won 1 in our last 5. Carroll has scored 1 in the last 12, and made no assists. The personnel we had out there yesterday (Kuyt, Carroll, Downing) and 5 in defence, theres no threat there so we will continue to struggle opening teams up. One shot on target at home to Stoke.. 90 minutes, at Anfield.. and we get one shot on target. The worst thing is it wasn't a surprise. Its predictable.. and the team needs major surgery in the attack department.

And if it happens again I personally dont care how many games we scrape 1-0 or even have to endure the 0-0 from yesterday just so long as I see it coming, and in all honesty part 1 of that 'plan' if indeed thats what it is, is already workin. We are hard to beat, aberrations apart like Pepe divin over the ball at citeh or refs sendin half the team off at spudz. We're not there yet, not by a long way but ffs we're alot nearer than we were in december 2010 and thats what I'm lookin for. We're a few points off a CL spot - whether we deserve it is a difrent matter, tho the old adage is the league dont lie come May and thats quite a long time ahead of us yet. I still think we can nick that 4th spot, its still not out of our own hands as we stand now.
Yes, I'd love a prolific goal scorer to come in this month, a creative midfielder in the Gerrard mould but 10 yrs younger'd be very nice too. But lets be realistic - we aint got CL football for these stars to come for, we aint even got Europa yet and we aint gonna pay stupid salaries as promised down the road, so your top top stars wont be attracted. But if we fail to get CL football next season - it wont solely be down to Andy Carroll!!!

That would be all fine and well if we had focused on defence (build from the back type thing), and then turn our attention to attack. But we haven't as we spent 70 million on attacking players Carroll, Downing and Henderson.
Our defence has been pretty solid for over 10 years now.. both Houllier and Rafa's teams were tight (why we were a successful Cup team). Four of the current back five are Rafa's (Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson).
The main focus of Kenny's transfer dealings have been in attack, and its that that is our weakness. He signed poor British players for a fortune. Its how he undoes this error that will ultimately decide things for him. After signing a poor player, the worst mistake a manager can make is persisting with him, it compounds the error. On the Sunday Supplement today they spoke of not seeing Carroll playing for a big club, and were shocked when we went for him. It was a signing that caught everyone by surprise, and only Kenny knows why he did. When the subject of Carroll gets brought up in press conferences Kenny gets touchy. As early as last February he was saying "we bought him for 5 years not 5 months". Its a signing that is on his head, but the worst thing he can do is be stubborn and persist with the error, rather than try and limit the damage and get a replacement as soon as possible.
Without Suarez we offer very little in attack, and are incredibly easy to defend against. The description of yesterdays performance was "toothless". We had one shot on targer, and over 21 games we average just over a goal a game. Kenny has to start again from scratch as bar Luis and Gerrard the forward players are not good enough.
